I definitely get where Woolie's worries come from but the Marvel games division has been pretty hands off in recent years. Ultimate Alliance 3 came out two years after MVCI and had a fuckton of X-Men and a bunch of other characters that have nothing to do with the MCU. Midnight Suns has multiple characters that casual fans would have no idea who they are. Obviously Disney/marvel could always fuck things up but Infinite genuinely came out at the worst possible time it could've and I don't think a hypothetical marvel 4 would have even half the issues MVCI did

See, I agree with Woolie that Disney would most likely meddle with the roster of any new game to promote the MCU… the thing is the MCU now encompasses just about every Marvel character with even the tiniest bit of notoriety. The X-Men, the FF, even Shuma! So I don’t really think the roster would be an issue this time.

The X-Men being cut from the roster is absolutely the most devastating part of MvCI for most people and it absolutely was Marvel/Disney's fault but trying to pin every problem that game had like the ugly graphics or the low budget on Marvel or Disney is so not true. Like for some reason when people talk about MvC they just forget what a wreck Capcom's fighting game division was at the time, like do you not remember the launch of SFV or Street Fighter x Tekken? I also can't be the only one who thinks Capcom's side of the roster was also mostly boring and the X-Men not being there wasn't the only problem that the game had in that department

I might be pulling this out of my ass, but I think the reason MvCC ain’t on Xbox is cause Xbox doesn’t want it on Xbone: they want it on Series X/S, but Capcom doesn’t wanna spend too much to rework the engine to make it compatible, so they will probably either wait until sales of the current version does well enough to warrant a new version, or they might just skip Xbox entirely. Who knows.

Yeah MvC2 characters feel like they're not part of the stages at all. It looks like one of those "Super Mario Bros 4K 120fps 😲😲!" Videos where they grab Mario 1, they remove every layer but sprites and green screen a hyper realistic background that vaguely resembles the level design of the original game. MvC1 characters actually looked like they belong on the stages.

For the record, I thin k Children of the Atom is the Capcom / Marvel fighting game I have the fondest memories of and enjoyed the most. It took forever for Omega Red to show up again in other games which was so frustrating. MvC 1 is probably tied with the Infinity War game for number 2.

9:55 Where's all this coming from? Disney had fuck all to do with how Infinite ended up the way it did. They don't even meddle in Marvel Games' day to day operations. Infinite was a result of a petty and bitter ex-Marvel CEO who was throwing a hissy fit over the fact that Fox wouldn't accept his deal for the 2nd time. Along with Capcom's hire ups not giving Ono the budget he needed as a result of his financial failures aside from SFIV and him spending so much money marketing them.

the reason the collections don't appear on Xbox is honestly very simple and boring. the collections are on MT framework and MT framework is not Xbox series or PS5 compatible (why there is no PS5 native version) and due to some weird Xbox console parity mandate they can't just release an Xbox one version without making a native series X version. then they just decided the resources needed for making that version wouldn't be worth the sales they'd get so they just don't make it.

Apparently, the reason Xbox ain’t getting the MvC Collection is cause they supposedly aren’t supporting the MT Frameworks engine that most previous collections run on. Idk if that’s the case, but we’re still getting the Ace Attorney collections on Xbox, so the issue is mainly with the MAHVEL one and not ALL Capcom games. Idk how true that is, but it kinda makes some level of sense since the last fighting game collection released on Xbox came out like a year or two ago, and post Activision acquisition Xbox is different from pre-acquisition as well. We will most likely see MvCC on Xbox once they work things out or they do something when it’s Series S/X mainly and not on Xbone. That’s probably why the game ain’t on Xbox yet, and Capcom probably doesn’t wanna spend extra to port it.

I'm totally with Woolie. After my grief cycle ended with MVCI, my hope was that Capcom and Marvel work on their own games for a while and come back together to reboot MVC. I am way more interested in a Capcom All-Stars type of deal and a pure Marvel fighting game done by NRS now than I am of an MVC4, even though it would still rock.

You want marvel 4 okay, here's the requirement: 1) It WILL be 70USD. No compromise on that. It's marvel, they'll insist. 2)The budget will be 150M in total. Because the highest grossing Marvel game(MVCInfinite) managed to sell 2.2M units over the course of it's lifetime. And if people are clamoring for a new Mahevl that badly, then they better show up to that degree(BTW, MVC3 onlie sold 1.5M units. So yeah. And MVC2 didn't even scratch the 1M mark.) 3)BTW half of the budget goes into marketing. No discussion, you know that's what'll happen. And considering each character costs 150,00USD(the cheapest character in SFV was Abigail, which cost that much. Also the amount of money SNK spent to make their rotoscoped charcaters. So I assume it's the average cost of making a character) to make... 4)the roster will be anemic as f. With 10 to 15(if they skimp out on budget, or they get a someone crazy ebough to do overtime for free)character at launch. You bet it'll be a DLC fest. Also the MTX. 5) Will be the worst part. The Battle Network collection didn't come out on Xbox, and a few months back there was that info bout publishers talking bout how it's not worth it to port games to it due to how bad the platform sells. Because, according to Max, the devs wanted just Bone Claw Wolverine since in the comics at the time, Logan was without his Adamantium because of Magneto. However, Marvel mandated that Adamantium Wolverine be on the roster because he would be getting it back in upcoming issues. Devs wanted to have it both ways.
