If a cartoon can make me feel for a character's relationship with their hair! You know that a show is doing wonders. I like how this show is unashamed with exploring its concepts, its setting, and unashamed with delivering bangers of animation and music!!! I NEED MORE CARTOONS WITH MEMORABLE MUSIC! MAKE ME WANT TO USE MY SPOTIFY!

Its 70% cardcaptors, 20%static shock and a 10% splash of samurai jack. It's really fun, wholesome and looks fantastic!

The hair episode really got to me as well. I was like Lunella for a long time, Not taking care of me hair and asking my mom to do it. I even went through phase of being envous of people with naturally straight hair, still do some times. I always wore ponytails and only recently started taking care of my own curls. It felt really touching to see Lunella put on her silk bonnet at the end of the episode so I touched my own silk bonnet on my head. I felt so seen.

So there are actually several animation studios working together to make this show, one of them being Flying Bark Productions who also did Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I highly recommend if you haven't checked it out yet. It's a very different take on the turtles but very fun and high energy. It also has a lot of heart and really explores the characters as a family. Plus it has some of the best and most stylistic action scenes I've seen in western animation recently.

I was so unbelievably excited when I heard that Flying Bark would be doing a Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur show--The are absolutely stellar at delightfully dynamic action animation, like their talent is displayed in pretty much everything they've done, from Glitch Techs, to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to Lego Monkie Kid, and now Moon Girl gets that too! They'd already worked on Marvel property with What If... but I honestly think that they shined so brightly with this one. The neon action sequences we get every episode are stunning and I just love all of the heart and flavor that brings Lunella and her world to life

As a CNA working mostly in nursing homes, I had to discover I was very ignorant about black people's hair too, and even to advocate for black patients whose nurses wanted their hair treated like, say, my hair. I'm sure there's still plenty I don't know and don't even know enough about to ask.

These are some of those characters I hope and pray are going to crossover into the greater mcu. Lunella fits into this universe in the same way ms marvel can and can be a gateway for character like power pack to exist without having to consistently be in live action. I hope this is the direction they go, especially since they’re leaning into this multiverse idea already

The soundtrack is ridic! I want a full version of the Beyonder's song *NOW!* The hair episode worried me at first, it almost seemed like they were going to barely touch it, but for a 22-minute long show, they covered a lot. And while they did not explicitly state it, I found it interesting that they made sure the person who told her her hair looked messy was a white girl. Because yes, that is relevant. We've all heard it, and it wasn't from other black girls. In a world where things like The Crown Act are *_still_* necessary, this remains an important subject. I know I hated my hair when I was a kid. It helped that growing up in the '70s, natural was the way to be, and the elementary school I went to was 70% Black, but I still wanted my hair straight. I did the hot combs and relaxers, burning my scalp, damaging my hair, never being satisfied with the way it grew out of my head. I was hooked long before that, though, halfway through the first episode, actually. The representation... OMG. Not just the LGBT+, but that her family - her BLACK family - owns a business, she's brilliant, and they tackle subjects that I've rarely seen. And her grandmother *absolutely* knows. I'd bet on it.

I love it that you watched this show. I just watched it last night so so so good!!! The hair episode was just plain real life. That's basically literally what it's like. The skating rink episode had me actually worried. Lunella was messing up real bad.

Ohhh man I held off watching this video until I finished watching the series myself, (which I love!!!! This series is not only beautiful but really thoughtful as well I like the themes they explore) so imagine my shock when you only cover the first 6 episodes hahaha. No pressure of course, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the rest of the series. I feel like this show went under the radar and it deserves a lot of love. Thank you for making your videos though, this was yet another good watch :)

The series overall is great. Absolutely wonderful. But that 44 minute first episode special is an absolute masterpiece. Like, one of the best pieces of animation I've ever seen, and it works really well as a contained short film. Again, rest of the first season is also very good (and I am on pins and needles waiting to see what happens in S2, because it's definitely coming), but that first episode is incredible. A perfect storm of creative talent.

Hey bill, I dont normally comment on videos - and definitely not to make requests of said video's creator - but I implore you to check out "Hi Ren" by the artist Ren. The song has had a profound effect on myself and almost all other people who have witnessed this masterpiece. as one comment on the video puts it: "This is no longer a song. This is no longer music. This is a soul splitting open and exploding into art." and I wholeheartedly concur with their assessment. It has been likened to this generations bohemian rhapsody, completely unique and awe-inspiring. I would love it if you made a video on it and other songs by Ren such as "The tale of jenny and screech (full)" and "Sick Boi". All said, love your stuff and croeso from wales!

I'm making this message still at the early point of your video, but I just had to give my thoughts. I'm honestly so happy that you're reacting/reviewing/talking about this show, because I've not seen anyone else talk about this show and I really wish more people would. The music, animation, characters, and story are all amazing. I also was surprised to see the LGBTQ+ representation in the show. It's not the greatest of any show, but its something I still really appreciated seeing! Also, I know some dislike the whole thing where they turn LGBTQ+ characters into villains, but I personally loved seeing what they did with LOS!

I know this is an old video but i totally agree! Im not a woman of color but i can relate to how rude and weirdly handsy complete strangers can be! I have a knee problem so i wear a knee brace 24/7. And so. many. total strangers have come up to me and been like what haopened to your knee or just randomly touched my brace! Adults! All of them have been adults! Like it seems like such common sense! 😂 I can not imagine walking up to a stranger and touching them or being like whats wrong with your face.

I watch binged the whole season while taking out my box braids. It’s literally an all day process and Hair Today Gone Tomorrow makes me feel so scene. Everything they said is true. My curls are a power symbol, a political statement and if you want your hair to be good to you, you better detangle, moisturize, and protect it with everything you’ve got. I especially felt seen as someone who struggled with hair care during my depression. Years later my found-family younger sibling is going through the same thing and her mother calls her messy. I’ve had the great honor of talking her through and letting her know we all go through that hard time. She’s since found what works for her and had the freshest of fades. Representation matters and as a kid who got called “Lion Girl” and told my afro was blocking the whiteboard in middle school I felt seen.

14:10 I'm a black male and I know a little bit about black girl hair. When the girl in class insulted Lunela's hair I said oof. You can't call black hair messy sweety that's offensive. I get it you are still a kid.
