I left the game 10 months ago (checked like 2 days ago because somehow algorithms decided to remind me of Marvel Snap when series drops hit). It was because i felt the economy was crappy in every possible way and even putting money into a game didn't feel good as I was still grinding through series 3, couldn't make decks I like in any forseeable future. And I had couple of months of everyday play behind me, for hours and season pass every month. For me it's super funny that after the entire year and so many videos of big content creators about economy... it was all for nothing, it was empty shout. Nothing changed, it is still this game which corners you into spending lot of money and giving you nothing in return. I laughed even harder when I saw an add "welcome back rewards" for players who left the game months ago... Wow, after being 10 months behind I will get 3000 tokens to exchange it for 1 series 4 card (as I recall). People at marvel snap think people are really that stupid.

So I’m a new player, been playing for about a week or so. And this isn’t the first video I’ve come across that’s kinda warning of an impending doom for this game. I love it so far, and it’s actually replaced Dokkan Battle for me for the time being (10th anniversary is right around the corner), so I’d hate to get too deep and end up losing it all down the line cuz they shut the game down or something. It’s definitely a daunting task to figure out how many cards their actually are and how far I have to go, but I’m having fun

they’re not scared, they are milking the player base. taking gold away from gauntlet, insane 99.99 ‘bundles’ for S4 cards, making every new card S5, loading caches with S4 mines etc, the only changes they implement are greedy ones that frustrate players eventually hoping that through fear or frustration they ‘encourage’ people to spend money.

SD is an amalgamation of incompetence, lack of foresight and gluttonous levels of greed. They are predators squeezing people with no self-restraint and poor spending habits dry. I like how the drops hit the value of December and January spotlights that were already pretty trash. The whole process of vibes based filler compounds the series 5 bloat to make spotlights a failed system. To say it is better than the last one without taking into account the lack of drops is just blind devotion.

The thing is that for as long as people on the team keep saying “we don’t want everyone to have every card. We want players to have unique collections” nothing will change. This is all purpose. Whether it’s for them to maximize profit because people are more willing to spend money to get cards or whether it’s because they truly believe that people not having the ability to get every card is better because of “unique collections”. It’s still very telling that they occasionally still drop that line. Until that edict is lifted, I fear they will not make the changes necessary.

At the start the spotlight system was enough. Then since Skaar season they out +1 additional cards each season. Then 1 months After they silently canceled the direct series 4, and all of a sudden the poor Drops caused this situation. It's their greed...we Players allowed them to be too Easy and still get the money

Great video! For me, I already gave up on the FOMO gravy train. As such, I pretty much just use surfer, Thanos, and a few more old reliable decks without worrying too much about the current meta. I’ve had pretty good success, still. I only open caches if I like the variant art or if the new card is extremely interesting. I think the last card I specifically opened on was probably Arishem lol. Since I don’t open too much any more, I have around 20 keys and 20k tokens. It seems like a lot, but it’s not nearly enough to catch up with the amount of cards I’m missing now. But it is enough for me to get the art I like, and hopefully whatever I’m missing I can eventually score from the random series 4&5 cache, since caches get better the more cards you’re missing. It’s definitely not ideal, but it’s the system and mindset I’ve developed to survive the current economy haha

The game needs a new mode and an improved economy desperately. These mini modes like Deadpool diner aren't very good. Leaving the game for a month could be a death sentence if you miss a good spotlight week with no idea when the card will be a available again.

Im playing this game since a month or lil bit longer and it’s still addictive and it can be fun but my problem I have with this game is that I can’t build nice or really good decks because the randomness for drawing cards or from the spotlights. I’m already on level 978 and still play an ongoing deck with literally only pool 1-2 cards and maybe one pool 3 card that I can usefully use there but for all other decks like discard or destroy I need more then half of my deck removed and put so many pool 3-5 cards in there. I don’t know if this game will keep me on track while playing one deck because with other decks I play I get demolished everyone has so many great cards. Nice video by the way 👍🏽

The $1 Samsung SP is what's kept me playing the game these past couple months honestly. One thing you didn't even bring up is how bad spotlights tend to be, with this series drop announcement the next 4 weeks of spotlights are all s4 cards. Meanwhile SP cards as far back as Zemo and Blink still haven't had a spotlight. I pulled for Gorr and just got my second Legion spotlight when hes been a s4 card since release a year and a half ago. Whereas it could have been any number of s5 cards released in the past 6 months that haven't had a spotlight. We so rarely get slam dunk spotlight weeks despite the insane bloat of s5.

This was the straw that broke the camel’s back, you’re correct it’s not so much the cards that dropped themselves. It’s the lack of good faith they’ve shown over and over again. This compounded with the Dinner was far too much! Lower collection levels are left to deal with us that have higher collection levels. This can lock lower levels out of a time limited mode with a buy back of spend real money. Then they took the bots out at higher tables and then hot fixed it to put them back in when some complained about the level differences. All in all it sucks to see the best mobile digital card game go to shit for poor money decisions. It will probably end up killing the game, I can’t honestly recommend this game to family of friends. It’s far too predatory, fomo driven and super slow card acquisition at the higher tiers. No way, the base will slowly leave and can’t come back when you’re that far behind from a few months. New players will not be jumping on board and staying. Sad to see, I wonder what SD’s nut is to pay Marvel for their royalties? I bet that’s more than half the money problem. I almost wish this was a regular un-licensed IP game! It’s really nice having the polish but could be better if we could actually all get to play with the new shiny toys every week

The whole series thing defo needs a rework, but it wouldn't be so bad if they dropped not only more cards, but some actual playable cards. Notice how in all the drops they drop like 80% fringe/bad cards then only a few staples? Like in reality the best cards here are X-23, Lad and Kitty and the majority of people have Kitty for free already anyway... It's not to say all the other cards are bad, but even if you pick up something like Pixie/Bill/Giant etc, you are still going to need a lot of newer cards to build any relevant deck involving them.

The entire community has shifted from " I love this game , I want to help, here are my opinions, I want this to continue to be a successful venture for you, the game to grow prosper, thrive & succeed. To "Whatever." ,apathy. When any mobile game takes the path of pushing multiple, more than usual cash offers first... Do you see that?😅... Yes but also no, I never understood why they are so stingy on their card collection when most of their money is made from selling art for those cards. The less cards one has. The less likely they are to buy variants and bundles are all variants, now you can argue buying variants for cards you don't have, but that just seems like a weird incentive for their horrible system. It just seems to me that they are afraid they might not be able to keep up with how fast people could be getting cards?!?! But I feel like that's a good problem to have since it means people will be more excited for new content more often.

Here's my top-4 Christmas wishes for Second Dinner: 1. Slow down the card release cadence. Card per week is too frequent. And you won't be able to keep it up for years: there just isn't enough characters in the MCU and the card collection will become too bloated. 2. Improve the spotlight caches: duplicate protection or 3k tokens per dubplicate. 3. Add more content. Like you, Rez, mentioned: new game modes, thematic events, story events, etc. That will add variety and spice up the game. 4. Quality of life and customization: more deck slots (+folders), more albums with existing cards, new game boards (it's been 2 years; how we still don't have this is mind-boggling!), custom backgrounds for main screen, collection tab, game loading screen, and sounds (like in Fortnite: every season a game pass should contain a new soundtrack for you to use in the future).

Yeah, after the December season I may be done with Snap. Might check in later on, but that doesn't guarantee I'll pick it up full time again (looking at you Apex Legends). Went from buying every pass since launch to skipping the Symbiote season and potentially the current one as well. Every issue with this game just compounds the fact that the devs seemingly don't care about us (just our wallets). This series drop was their chance to turn it around and give their playerbase something good, instead they chose to insult us and valid criticisms with doodles in that awful rehashed diner mode.

It is funny too that they are not alarmed with the sudden boom to popularity of Pocket and we thought that they are trying to match that with their own opening packs mechanic, it seems opening packs can only work for a card game that has so many cards, what Snap is abundant is variants, and titles only, not cards themselves. The only saving grace of the game is the game mechanic, if other companies try to emulate it, Snap is doom.

Giving them 1yr. My issue is what 24 keys /4 =6 fucking cards guaranteed taking into account the lowest spotlight rolls. Assuming you only have 1 card a week you need to get. 40k tokens saved for what 6 cards. (Name the last “good s4 card) than half of those gonna get nerfed to the ground cause of an OTA. 👎 And I don’t even have the agency of choosing what exact cards I want, gotta wait an 8hr stupid cycle, just let us get whatever card we want at any time. Idk they have a crapload of issues to fix, they need to do it ASAP

I've seen so many nuanced takes on this and in short there's so many possible things they could do to address these problems and their refusal to commit to any of them until it is 100% ready to go is going to drive people away for sure and because they lack any catchup mechanics they have no way of bringing those players back once they do fix the economy. What really stands out among the takes I've heard though is that they need the economy to be this way to make money or they don't and neither is a good sign. If this is what they need to do to make money then we're looking at a terribly managed company that can't budget accordingly and has to desperately milk their player base for all they can. If they don't then they're being greedy and don't deserve the money they're asking for and should've been cutting players slack long ago. Either way not a good look for them

unfortunately I haven't found a solid alternative yet, though I have been trying some auto battlers and they scratch a similar itch. TFT and the Bazaar have been fun, TFT has a mobile app and the Bazaar will be launching on mobile next year

Maybe for every series 5 card that enters the game a current series 5 goes to series 4, a current series 4 drops to 3…to speed this up run for say 3 months but double it, series 5 entered game and 2 current series 5 drops to series 4 and 2 series 4’s drops to series 3. During this time triple rewards; credits, gold, etc. After 3 months then just go to 1 for 1; 1 enters series 5, 1 series 5 drops to series 4, 1 series 4 drops to series 3, etc. and rewards go back to normal.

For a new player I am sure it's impossible at the moment so not doubting that, though I would argue the game was actually more fun in the lower pools but maybe that's changed idk was fun back in the day where even Medusa could be played and it was more random what your opponent actually had in their collection to even use in the first place. But anyway for a long term player I fail to see how they don't have all cards they want and have an issue with the system? I've got 20 keys and missing 15 cards but on purpose they are cards that aren't very good nor do I see much use in them and will likely be in spotlights as a thrown in because they are bad surprisingly they haven't been yet or they've been put with a new also bad card lol. Any card that I did want I've got, I even have spent Tokens to get the card sometimes so I can use keys to get their Variant as well if it's one I really like in fact I did it for Martyr who's seriously not a card I needed but thought was a funny flex win and pf avatar just showing that yes I really opened keys to get this card and Variant. Point being I've felt not impact in my keys getting lower, and haven't spent money in a long while besides Bps so I don't see any issue with it myself and have a hard time getting where people even come from on that, if you are skipping bad weeks Keys are plenty idk. I've heard stories of bad management of resources like only having 2 keys but trying to get a new card and didn't, maybe that's why a lot have issues because they simply are wasting keys rather than learning to horde them up and only open if you can certainly get a card.

Ya I’m starting to feel like I want to quit this game. Around 12,000 collection level. Missing like 15 cards. Bought all season pass’s since starting on the Daken season. Have about 14 keys and 24,000 collectors tokens. Just hanging on to my resources because every spotlight week is terrible with the cards they shove in there and some of these new “season 5” cards are totally not worth it. Terrible card acquisition getting really bored and brain drained from trying to keep up with this terrible system.

Snap has a dichotomy of vastly different experience for original players and new players/returning players. And their card acquisition system pushed the gap between them even further with each passing week. While original players complain is valid with the unacquired cards grows further and further, the same problem is much more pronounced for new players. And this cannot be solved with Series drop. As catering to one side of players would have made it worse for the other. Veteran players might be disappointed with the few numbers of S3 drops, but a large number of S3 drops brings about the problem of bloated S3 roster with junks and landmines new players don't want to draw early on. It also pushed S3 completion further away from 4 months when we originally started to at least 6.5 months now. No newbie in their right mind would have stick it up for such a long time to reach start of endgame. To make matter worse, new player experience has been made even more awful by SD never updated their MMR floor for newbie. We're still at CL3000 floor separating newbie players with the rest of the world. That is far too low to release them into the wild now. It makes for awful experience and for them to have to stick it up for the next 3 months through that? It's very unlikely for them to stay.

The part I don't like is the constant otas. A lot of it is what you mentioned like all of a sudden cards you have aren't good and cards you don't have get a boost but it also makes watching content older than a month pointless. I was watching a creators video and I couldn't understand why some of the results were the way they were. Turns out the cards changed. Those videos are pointless now

More concerned with scam robots or real people that is rigged, by second dinner. Locations are set against the deck you are playing, or you draw all 5 or 6 cost cards....so you can't play first few turns....or your combos come out completely broken, but other guys all line up perfectly, and are perfect for the locations. What's up with the timer also, some get what feels like 5 min, and seems like mines in the red or timed out less then 5 seconds. But other guy still hasn't played yet.

I get why everyone is complaining. The card acquisition economy has some serious problems. That being said what is the equitable solution for the design philosophy of this game? I just came back to the game after taking a seven month break and I definitely see the issues but has someone really laid out realistic alternatives? It feels like all the content creators are all beating the same drum. You all are trying to make money off the game and the system hurts all of your bottom lines too. However, no developer is doing this not to make money. Holding SD to some higher standard was always ridiculous.
