Just to give you a plot summary: Decades ago Nick Fury promised to help Skrulls find a new home in exchange for their service, but after realizing he can never find a home for them, he stays quiet and kept using them as lapdogs. After the Blip, Nick Fury just abandoned them and hide in space, only came back after a young Skrull started a rebellion. After getting 2 of his best friends killed because he sucks at his job, someone else took out the rebellion leader for him, but the whole event started an all out race war towards the Skrulls. However, instead of trying to fix that or stop it, Nick Fury once again abandon everyone and hide back to his space with his wife, leaving all Skrulls on Earth to fend for themselves

@@jomol4598 I heard that in the comics there was constant tension because they didn’t just tell you who were and were not skrulls which I felt would’ve helped massively. I never really felt any tension during the show as they were pretty quick to spill the thea, and not just for who’s skrull but also character deaths. Remember G’iah dying and then returning the next episode? Her ‘immortality’ also didn’t sit right with me. I don’t think Marvel will start to recognize that their shows are failing due to bad writing, they’ll probably pass it off as a fail (so no s2) and carry on to release the next disaster on the assembly line.

The reason it is giving you Winter Soldier vibes is because this trailer reveals that the MCU version of Secret Invasion is taking some influence from the same comic that inspired The Winter Soldier: Secret Warriors by Jonathan Hickman. This isn't surprising, given that Nick Fury is the main character of their adaptation of Secret Invasion, which is a clue that they are focusing specifically on the Nick Fury storyline from the Secret Invasion comic, rather than adapting the whole event (and hence it not being a big movie full of tons of big characters like Civil War was). The whole point of Nick Fury's storyline in Secret Invasion was to set up a comic that began immediately after it. That comic was Secret Warriors, which explains the influence we see here - for example the scene in the restaurant where lots of people are revealed to be agents of some kind, and not regular diners. That happened in Secret Warriors too. And the quick shot near the end with the group of people behind the guy who shoots his arm out, that guy and the others might be the MCU version of the Caterpillars, the clandestine superhero team working for Fury in Secret Warriors (they're called that because they are young and Fury's mentorship and training will make them into butterflies, as the metaphor goes).

The MCU is not something I’m particularly thrilled about. Mainly because a LOT of the comic lore and wider Marvel universe is cut out especially for a turning point event like Secret Invasion. In the comics Secret Invasion was an event that affected everyone on Earth, all factions currently known Hero, Villain, inbetween. Literally no one was safe. And knowing that MCU Earth doesn’t have Fantastic Four, X-Men, Doom, Magneto and his allies, Sinister Six, AIM, or even Masters of Evil is going to severely limit the audience impact of just how deep this whole thing goes.

Most of the recent films have been pretty serious in tone. Black Widow (outside of Red Guardian being played broadly, pretty dark), Wakanda Forever (basically a funeral) & Eternals (very dry drama) were all pretty serious in tone. While not as dark as those, Shang-Chi was mostly serious (minus the sidekick). Spider-Man was heavier than usual. Even Ant-Man was more serious than usual (though still leaned towards the absurd). And while Doctor Strange got campier because they brought Raimi in, the only outright comedy, by design, was Thor 4. Even the shows were more serious than usual, outside of the two designed to be of a lighter tone due to the nature of the characters (Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk) and the only animated one (What If? And even that went darker than the older films in many cases). WandaVision (outside of the sitcom wrappings) was pretty dark, Falcon & Winter Soldier (outside of the buddy cop banter) was very serious. Even Moon Knight was more serious than not (the Steven personality swapping around being the only real humor in it). All examples of projects that had a minimum amount of humor in them. Loki I guess would be somewhere in-between, though.

@@The2ndQuest i think the broader issue is the disney + series. whilst some films were appalling like Thor and large parts of ant man, She hulk was a travesty of failed humour at every step. mrs marvel was about as funny as standing on lego etc. wouldn’t be an issue if their tone was serious and they weren’t constantly trying to be a comedy sketch. the issue is, they keep trying to make unfunny actors (or scripts) funny, which just makes it hard to watch and thoroughly forgetful. the only marvel ips i’ve actually enjoyed in the last few years were the genuinely serious ones like MK, WV and loki. i LOVED the MCU up to and slightly post endgame. because it was always serious with appropriate and well timed humour mixed in. now it’s horridly written humour and comedy with tiny amounts of serious scenes mixed in, which can’t even be taken seriously as the whole thing is a big poorly executed joke. all my opinions ofc.

I still loved the show but it still felt rushed. I wanted them to explore more into how the blip effected Fury and seeing him do more action scenes, the skrulls were insane and a bit disturbing to watch. Gravik has got to be my top favourite villain now but I hate that he dies so easily especially seeing how we was throughout the show, I hope there’s a season two although I feel it’s not worth it now.

Indeed. I thought that this would be important information to share. 35% of all ocean microplastics come from clothing/textiles, mostly polyester, but also acrylic and nylon as well. This is largely due to clothes made of these materials being washed, which causes these clothes to quickly erode, with the microplastic fibers entering the water system and eventually the sea.
