Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite Like You've Never Seen! Is MvCI Back?!?

THIS IS SHOWING US WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN! CAN MVCI BE REVIVED?!?
An amazing collaborative effort is underway to completely revamp Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite's graphics. And it's being funded by none other than Maximillian Dood! Developer "Ryn" aka WistfulHopes began an effort to improve MvCI's graphics and, once Max got word of it, the project has gone into full gear. Check out the super beautiful beginnings of one of the most amazing glowups we've ever seen!

I wish people would stop mistaking cell shading for bad graphics. It’s a stylistic choice to make the game look as close to the show as possible.

I'd say if it's not paired with great animation it can look quite bad, even the mod doesn't look groundbreaking or anything but it at least brings it up to speed with MVC3, which I'd say arguably doesn't look that great either but holds up waaaay better than if it didn't have cel shading. It can actually be a decent way of masking a games age because it doesn't concern itself with how high fidelity a realistic game has to be to look alright

Very interesting. The initiative power that can only be motivated by true hunger, i'd say. It turned out that MvC truly was abandoned... which wasnt obvious for a while in the very late 2010s or very early 2020s, but now there's no room to doubt. The makers didnt even try to save the game with an "emergency revision" like it happens sometimes over fg history. So the MvC community started to mobilize and not let the feelings for the franchise and the public attention cool off completely (except the 2d games that are well on fightcade).

If I had to pick additional characters for MVCI, I'd add 2 new rows for both sides, but because of Winter Soldier, the Marvel side will have 1 character less. So... CAPCOM: - Edward Falcon (Powerstone) - Devilotte (Cyberbots) - Wesker (RE5) - Captain Commando - Lady (DMC4) - Ruby Heart (MVC2) MARVEL: - Cyclops (Astonishing X-Men) - Storm (Astonishing X-Men) - Daredevil - Dr. Doom - Blade (or the Thing)

Finally someone I can agree with when it comes to UMVC3 mods. The people creating them have no design philosophy. Every new character has a otg, wb, gb, for the free solo. lol As much as i love the community, its way to hectic.

I love the idea of what the community is doing with UMVC3, but like James Chen said "It's becoming too much MUGEN" because there isn't a top head person managing the characters and trying to balance out the rosters. Characters are coming in too overpowered with way too much in their kit.

Tough subject when talking about the industry which needs to be brought up more within the fgc. But im gonna put you on the spot since we're saying graphics matters and i agree with you. James, did you buy pocket bravery? If you havent, its one thing to say graphics matters when your favorite studio/company is involved. Its another thing when that studio is indie and has a small budget. We're all waiting for 2xko, but i think only justin and maybe kizzie has spoken about Coreupt. HxH at least has eyes on it. The gaming community as a whole already knows indie devs need support. The fgc, i dont know if anyone has even heard of those games i mentioned. I dont even want to speak on mvci since it just makes me salty. Just know, i was defending everyone being called shills back in 2017 More industry talk in the future? Great video

And/or create a bubble in where devs think there's more interest in a particular type of game than there actually is? Let's say I support HxH even though I don't like the anime or vs. Gameplay... Am I supposed to buy HxH2 as well? What happens when all the "buying on principle" ppl leave? I feel like just buying what you want to play is the best way to get more of what you want to play... Regardless of if its indie, AAA, or whatever else. Maybe I'm missing something tho. Idk

I get your frustration with realistic graphics, especially because as you said, it seems like the default for modern games is to always go in that direction, even when that might not even seem like to right fit for a specific game, and if I want to add another thing about that, it is hard to make a game with realistic graphcis and animations look truly great, because with realism you need to work with a lot of subtle things, especially when it comes to the animations, so I get the that, because I also want more games to try different styles, BUT...I also think you are wrong about this idea that styalized graphics don't age, they do, a modern styalized game like Hi-Fi-Rush (2023) looks way ahead of something like Jet Set Radio (2000), from the animations, models, world, etc, the latter aged, and I don't say that as a negative, everything ages, and there's nothing bad about that, the same appplies to games that aimed at realism, like Max Payne (2001) and Hitman: Blood Money (2006), but for some reason, people would look at those two last games and say that, because they don't look up to the modern standards of what realistic graphics are supposed to be now, that means that realistc graphics have a inherently problem with them, which just makes me think that the real problem is how people look at them, more than the games itself. Another thing, and I know this comment is already kinda long, but I think that a mistake that you and a lot of other people make, is to forget that even with realism, you are still at the end of the day dealing with creating something, even when shooting a film with real people, there's still the costuming, setting decoration, use of light, shadows, colors, which is what makes things look different, some better, others worst, I believe that even Richmond Lee has talked about that on twitter, and he's also super in favor of more games having what I believe he likes to call ´´ambiguous`` graphics, just like I do, because even tho i'm here talking about this stuff, I am more into things having a very strong style, especially when it comes to how the characters and world look, still, I feel annoyed at how often people seem to not give any credit to things that aren't like that, and view anything realistic like it's just vapid, I just find that very simple minded.

I was super excited for MCVI but the gameplay just isn't great and the 2 v 2 killed me a little on the inside . It'll never have the staying power 3 has. I know it has its fans still but I just can't get into it as much as I try
