Being 50 years old, AKUMA is a real life role model to me. Gotetsu put limitations on his training but he was like "f*ck it" I'm gonna train anyway and eventually defeating Gotetsu. He went past his limits to become the best.

Akuma/Gouki is rather more deep than people realize. Akuma enjoys the fight not the killing. And it isn't that he lacks emotion. If anything he shows love in one of its perverted forms. Gouki loved Goutetsu's niece but he chose to become what he believed to be the pinnacle of warriors. Is he evil? In a manner of speaking, yes. But not in the sense of what Bison or even Seth are. But while people think Akuma is held under the sway of the Satsui no Hado the opposite is in fact true. He enjoys the power for the love of the fight not to kill which is what Ansatsken is designed for. So in a way he both proved Goutetsu right and wrong.

Besides his refusal to kill, or to even fight in some cases, those who haven't met or surpassed his strength, there's arguably another reason that makes him not bad. Using the Raging Demon on M. Bison, no matter what the reason was, is a GOOD action if you view it through the "ends justify the means" ideology. The dictator is a monster in nearly every way, and his continued existence leads to torture, brain washing, slavery, murder, and more. So taking out Bison the way he did (idk if it's canon) in SF2 was not only not a bad thing, but a heroic act. Bison survived by jumping to another body, but during the time he's inactive he can't engage in his usual malicious actions. So it's a good thing Akuma did.

And while he's not a good guy in any sense, look at his interactions with his Gouken, Goutetsu (I think that was his Master's name), and Ryu if anyone thinks so, I stand by him taking out Bison being an overall good act. Some times the best thing to stop a monster is not a hero, but is another monster.

Jamal Vargas Oh Akuma would absolutely wreck Shang Tsung in a direct fight, especially if he could connect with a Raging Demon cause of how much evil the Outworlder has commited... But is it a fair comparison to make? Akuma is a physical powerhouse who fights his own battles, stands alone, and is more of an anti villain than a villain. He's a "I want to be the greatest ever" type of character, with dark leanings. Shang Tsung is more reliant on sorcery and soul power than physicality (but isn't physically weak by any margin), is a full "bent on world domination" kind of villain, and his villainy is more of a "power behind the throne" and acting indirectly through minions kind. So while they're both not good guys, they're also VERY different in their motivations and ways of taking action. Shang Tsung is more like M. Bison if he's compared to Street Fighter characters. And as for Akuma... I'm not really sure who in Mortal Kombat I would compare him to, cause all the bad guys in MK are focused on taking over and ruling as tyrants, and not on just building their own strength for its own sake. Addendum: If you're familiar with the KZbin series, and later channel, called Death Battle, one of their earliest episodes was Akuma versus Shang Tsung. You should check it out. They don't just show the fights, but they examine both characters first and then explain the result after with evidence from both characters' actions and history UP TO THE TIME THE EPISODE IS MADE.

I think what he meant was emotionally weak, in Akuma's philosophy when you defeat an opponent he sees it as respectful to kill them, this makes some sense as in old Japanese tradition you could be seen as a dishonor to your family and community if you were to flee battle or surrender to an enemy in order to save your life in war. So Akuma is angry because he's embarrassed and ashamed with having to live after suffering a defeat. He thinks if gouken were truly serious about battle he would have finished him.

Decent video, lore is mostly accurate save for the fact Akuma was banished from his master Goutetsu's Dojo for attempting to access texts he kept hidden about the Satsui No Hado. Namely related to the Shun Goku Satsu but also other forbidden techniques that caused the user to tap into the dark art thus corrupting them.

When Akuma says "I am evil incarnate", I beg to differ. He's evil, yeah, but true evil values personal satisfaction over restraint. Selfishness, absolute selfishness, to the point of utter cruelty, is the core of being evil. So, "evil incarnate" WILL have the ability to abide by a code (such as Akuma's) for pride reasons, but that will not stop him from violating that code if doing something selfish would feel more satisfying than sticking to his code based upon his evil arrogance-based faux pride. Perhaps he should have used an evil term instead of the word evil in "I am evil incarnate"... like brutality, bloodthirst, strife, conflict, etc... something less all-inclusive to evil than the word "evil". I mean, if Akuma was evil incarnate, he'd be sitting upon a pile of gold, commanding minions, generally cowardly (despite being godlike in violent physical capability), having millions of people seeing him as some great leader, and only showing up to finish off someone his minions could not kill. Oh, and most of his attacks would be from the dark, often when his target is asleep, and killing off that target's friends/allies/loved ones in the area too...then looting them. There would also be violations of people of hostage and sexual nature too, but let's not get into that. Evil, yep, hands-down no-doubt evil. As for "evil incarnate", nope... he's a far cry from that. He's actually pretty saintly compared to how evil one who is truly evil is.

By claiming that, he's claiming to be the physical embodiment of all evil, not just being evil. I mean, I can see him claiming that to be intimidating... but the claim is wrong. If he said that to me in person, he'd probably kill me for my pointing out how wrong he is by saying that. And his demon form, it's cool. Not all Oni are born Oni. Some Oni were once people, becoming such monsters via giving in to the mind, body, spirit, and power of being an Oni. It's a nice nod to mythology. Oni are also varied in personality and in power (always evil, no matter the personality). Aku from Samauri Jack is technically an Oni... and Akuma would take issue with such an OP coward and probably COMPETE with Jack in his quest to destroy Aku... before taking on Jack himself. Sorry for nerd-vomiting again. I used to be an avid reader, among other things... the whole infinite curiosity thing.

I wouldn’t say his presence is a danger to everyone he is around just because of that moral code he has. He has refused to fight people or even stopped fighting people just because he found out they were not a worthy opponent or posed any threat to him. If he and Dan were to cross paths and Dan wanted a fight Akuma wouldnt give him any mind. Heck even RYU, who is very capable, akuma has stopped short of killing him numerous times because akuma knows that Ryu wasn’t fighting to his most potential. M Bison on the other hand has no problems killing anyone he wants. It’s his unbridled thirst for power is what disgusts Akuma who only wants to better himself by facing only the best.

Mostly good video; but please stop calling his martial art form "unidentified". Im not even a very big SF fan and i know the basic canonical lore behind it. In real world Martial Arts; Shotohan was the first named form of the combined forms of Okiniwa. They were a combination of Okinawan exercise techniques similar to what we call calisthenics today; routines made up of body-weight exercises like pushups and Chinese Martial Arts. Canonically in SF a group of the original Masters behind Shotokan did not like the idea of it being used in sport; and wennt of to develop the true physical and spiritual potential Martial Arts like the Shaolin did. The developed a Martial Art known as "Ansatsuken". This is Japanese for "Assassins Fist" and the very reason for the movie subtitle "Assassins Fist". Ansatsuken does not exist, although new Katas were developed by Martial Artists for scenes in the "Ansatsuken" that do actually work as a Kata when put together. It however is now real and actually made to make the training scenes in the movie look real. The people that made it however knew what they were doing. Ansatsuken in SF lore is a sister form of Shotokan that chose to evolve in isolation away from Shotokan. It doesnt and has never actuallt existed; but it represents the back side of Martial Arts; the masters that dedicate their lives to improving the form above all other things. This is even shown in the Story for Ryu and Akuma; where Akuma becomes less evil as he masters the form fully and gainscontrol over its greater powers. Ryu needs to accept his darker side and overcome it to truly surpass Akuma. As they both reach the same highest pedestal; the become more alike. Honor and respect become the chief emotions of their choices; just the like practitioners of the theologies behind Martial Arts aim to do. To this extent, Akuma seeks adversaries that are beyond him and doesnt generally harm those too weak to be a threat. His even shown able to use his Oni form in some media; as if he actually takes control. His later self is depicted less villanous and simple the result of surviving the hardest and quickest path to power. A soul full of only pain.

I've watched 3 of these origins videos today and 1 had the narrator saying Rye-you instead of Ree-you for Ryu. Another said Sag-gat instead of Sah-got for Sagat. And Gow-ken instead of Go-ken for Gouken. And Mag-net-oh instead of Mag-neat-oh for Magneto. If you're not going to do even the slightest bit of research before blindly reading something then it just shows how little you care about the material. And the fact that nobody even caught it before putting it out on an official video for your channel means nobody in editing cares either. The info is all pretty solid so the writer might care. But that's about it. Please do better. That's all im asking. As a fan of most of the content yall cover on this channel. It really does mean a lot when you can at least get the names right.
