I actually liked the cinematic version of apocalypse because he was an apex predator. His character arc was poorly written, it was hard to resonate with him as the antagonist but he was conveyed as the ultimate mutant powerhouse. The demonstration of his abilities, outmatching the X-men and displaying great range in scale, it actually made him a cool villain. One note but still entertaining and imposing nonetheless.

Apocalypse in the Krakoa era was immense. His redemption arc was great to see. Apocalypse turned out to be a better leader than Charles Xavier.

Selene Gallio would be the first/oldest mutant or if you wanted to argue cannon then Namor. Apoc is 6-7k years old, Selene is 17k years old.

I love Magneto but I see him more as a antihero. Apocalypse ( along with Dr. Doom and Mr. Sinister ) are my 3 favorite villains in all of comics. I think he deserves a cosmic power boost and being the big bad moving forward. Not the biggest fan of how he's been treated this decade. I would have Apocalypse be a major MCU villain for multiple phases. I would make Apocalypse and Doom the next 2 big Thanos level villains with Galactus playing a mcguffin role.

Negative he possesses self-molecular manipulation meaning he can most likely retain some abilities because he has complete control over his molecular structure. He can also mimic and adapt making it difficult to weaken him.
