Just an FYI: The 3 "long coat" cavalry poses were never issued in the Marx Blue and Gray sets. They were used in the Fort Apache Indian war sets. There were 5 poses but for some unknown reason only 3 were re-issued, the flag bearer, the sgt. with pistol and the officer leaning forward with his sword (great pose!). There was also a bugler and a trooper with arms at his sides pose. All had the bandana's on their necks which was generally for later Indian war cavalry. Only cavalry poses Marx put in his sets were the kepi guy with sword and the slouch hat guy with sword, issued in both blue and gray colors. The 2 caisson poses you have were also found in blue and gray colors in the civil war sets. Finally Marx did issue in gray only a fantastic falling horse and rider pose. It was only issued in a few civil war sets but it was the greatest and most sort after piece in the set. Fortunately, it was reissued many years ago and readily available.

I remember buying a whole bag of long coat cavalry figures from Stone Castle Imports back in the 1980's. It was not mixed with Civil War poses like this small group shown here I think it was 25 figures. I don't know what I did with them. I still remember the first time I saw them .my neighbor had the Fort Apache playset sold by Montgomery Wards in 1964. The set came with a Falling Horse and rider too. Those were the days! I never had the Dirt Apache set back then, but my brother and I got the Civil war set Hours and hours of fun back then

@@iggystoyparadesoldierrevie1092 Yes, the genius of Louis Marx was incredible. He always said when his developers were pitching a new playset to put as much in it as possible. When the Ben Hur set was done Louis and about 10 Marx executives got free tickets to the movie premier of Ben Hur, since the studio had asked Marx to produce the set. When the developers saw the movie and realized there were no gladiators in the movie they asked Louis if they should remove them from the almost finished set and Louis said "No, let's give the kids as much as we can. Kids use their imagination, play their own games, and let's give them as much as we can.". That was his philosophy. His sets always give kids play value. As you say, hours and hours of fun!

Luv the review. That's terrible whats happend to your stuff in storage. I'm remembering so much. We had the marx tent in red or maybe MPC. Stay cool my friend. Those neihborhood battles were epic. Us baby boomers always alot of kids ln the suburbs to form up armys.
