Oh that voice! MCC draws up something deep from inside. So human, so tender, so strong. Hurtin' never felt this good! And oh my, that piano player! Doesn't he bring something special to the table?

Mary is about as good as they get. Such a wonderful songwriter and interpreter of songs. Such smart and beautiful lyrics. Too bad everything's so dumbed down today. I guess this is why this kind of thinking persons song doesn't get the traction it deserves.

This song is so beautiful, it stops you dead in your tracks; takes your breath away. It would have been a welcomed addition to Ashes and Roses, but it's a BEAUTIFUL album without it. Very intimate, moving and powerful. I LOVE this CD!

When you're standing at the edge of the world Every move is carefully planned All it takes is one step that's unsure To find your solid ground has turned to sand And I remember trying not to breathe Not to speak, or make the slightest sound As if I could enjoin this life to freeze Perhaps then I could make it turn around Going back to who we used to be When there was no such thing as retreat It was if my eyes had found new ways to see And as if my heart had learned new ways to beat I'd never felt that way before or since But what I'd give to have it back again When time can't be persuaded or convinced Hope is just a garden that we tend So now I'm standing at the edge of the world Trying to decide which way to go Am I brave if I suddenly step forward Or a coward if I hear myself say no I guess it's never been up to me Though fate has fooled me time and time before Like thinking I could really watch you leave Without the need to run and bar the door

I have listened and listened to this. I found it while my life's love was battling his cancer. It was so exactly what I felt and still feel since he left me. How can I get it? Is it going to be on the next CD? I saw her in concert during that time also - unforgettable experience. She is just so REAL.

@debnfredvanz It's on The Age of Miracles in a special edition from Amazon. Unfortunately, it's not this version. I bought the album mostly for this song, and the album version sounds artificial and synthetic. I've been trying to find a way to buy this exact song, but I haven't found a way yet.
