Last week my husband, a big youtube afficianado, asked me if I knew Mary Chaplin Carpenter. I said only for most of my life! I asked him why and he said he got a suggested video on MCC performing hits from her home. What a treat and a necessary time to reflect on what’s important in your life. Other than family, friends and, hopefully, health, the other biggie is music for me, and I am sure for a lot of people. When a song can capture a moment, a feeling, a memory, it becomes a part of us. And you were there. Thank you for your music and words. Always.

Mary, I am grateful you chose this career. Your music and voice mean a lot to me. I listen to your music often, and the most signifcant times are when I ride my motorycle. Through the Rockies, Silverton, Carbonville, Wyoming, Beartooth pass Montana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennesee, the Apalachains... Your music is a companion. It truly enhances the trip, and this is why I appreciate what you do. Stay strong. Take care of You. [I'll be listening]

Thank you, MCC, for making your art and presence so real. No stage, no lights, no musicians, just an artist, her work and a connection that is hard to explain. You make us feel better, more united and more hopeful. You're filling a void in many people's lives, and we thank you.

I used to check in on several things on KZbin to lift my spirits during this virus mess, familiar talk shows hosts from home mainly. Now I only look forward to these Songs From Home. Mary's tone seems somehow the only thing that feels right. Jubilee helped me talk to my depressed teenage daughter who's missing her friends right now and sad she'll not have high school prom, graduation etc. I realize it's trite compared to real hardships going on at the moment, but she's still grieving a loss of something most of us experience senior year. Anyway, thank you, Mary, for Jubilee. The song lifted her spirits, especially the line "In your own good time you'll be back where the sun can find you." I'm grateful for how you keep on singing and playing these beautiful words and chords ... and smiling.

Not trite at all. Only happens once in a life and is the culmination of 13 years of work. Sad. Hope you are well.

Sometimes what we think is trite, to our kids it's major. I feel for your daughter and understand her emotions. I find myself on some days quite depressed. Miss hugging my grandkids and visiting them. Even though guys according to the world are not supposed to show emotions I'm the opposite. This world is going to be different and somethings will not be the same but at least we have music that softens the heart.

Was there ever a musical performers who was more comfortable and authentic than MCC? None come to mind for me. When you listen to her songs you get a strong sense of who she is as a person. And now we have this series of home performances. Lo and behold, she turns out to be exactly the person we all thought she was when we first heard her thoughtful, lovely songs. You are a gift to the world, MCC, especially now.

This is such a beautiful song. It always amazes me how you write this poetry and the music. Reading other comments on this Songs From Home series, I see how much myself and others appreciate your sharing your words, songs, and music. Again, I am re-watching this series. I'm working from home these days. And as much as I love not having to dress up and drive to an office, it is isolating. I find Mary Chapin Carpenter's voice to be comforting. So thank you again Ms. Carpenter for your generousity of spirit in making these videos and sharing your music.

My son, who wishes he'd been around for the "original" Metallica, and blasts it from every speaker around our house, walked by my bedroom (where I hide out from the virus, ha!) and stopped and said: wow, that's really nice; when did you learn how to do that; you're really getting good -- I play guitar and he thought it was me -- I was honest and replied: this is a real artist; she does not need a huge band and auto-tune. Thank you so much for these uploads. They mean a lot. Patricia (PS: we have napping fur babies, too)

I was never one to check my phone first thing in the morning, nor did I turn on my computer without a moment of grace and respect for my life, every day. My routines have changed during this outbreak, and my meditation considerably swayed in a darker direction. I am looking, perhaps, to find clarity and peace where there used to be. I find myself impatiently waiting for my computer to warm up so that I may listen to Mary's daily gentile conversation she has with all of us. And her music. Oh, yes, her music. Thank you once again for lifting my spirit.
