Powerful song. Just beautiful. I HEard you on the SYRIUS XM radio today whilr driving home from Goodwill in Rosenberg Texas. The song they played was "I Drink". Went home and youtubed your name and my husband and I made our beans and cornbread with the dogs napping and the kitchen window open. A strong steady rain fell and we listened to your songs one by one. Thank you. Your music has integrity and truth and sounds soooo soothing and pretty. My husband is a musician He says you sound a lot like Lucinda Williams.

Lucinda Williams is an awesome singer/songwriter, but she has a completely different vibe. She’s grittier and not hopeful.

Just one of 11 songs from Rifles and Rosary Beads. Every single one is a gem. I’m a singer/songwriter guy and I have never heard a better CD in 50 years.

Mary I just discovered you last night in an old interview with David Bromberg who gave you wonderful praise. Now I cannot get enough of your songs. The lyrics and performance on this are so powerful. The words remind me of my feelings when I came home 53 years ago from combat. But they apply equally to anyone who has had extreme trauma in their life.

Mary, if you ever get closer to Mobile, AL, I will definitely come to your concert. I moved back here after 33 years away either due to military or having to spend time in the Midwest to raise my sons. I am definitely back in the South now to fill that void for all those years. I wish you would come closer for a concert for just thirty minutes away from me in two directions are military bases (Pensacola, FL and Gulfport, MS)...as well as many soldiers residing in the area who would absolutely love you. All your songs hit the heartstrings and brings us back again....to either what is real or for real! Really look forward to that experience one day...

I was bound to something bigger And more important than a single human life I wore my uniform with honor My service was not a sacrifice But what saves you in the battle Can kill you at home A soldier, soldiering on You don't fight for yourself You fight for the ones by your side And they do the same for you And to live you must be willing to die But what saves you in the battle Can kill you at home A soldier, soldiering on Suck it up, shut it down It don't matter how you feel Mission first, just drive on A soldier is a cog inside a wheel Up or down, all for one The closest family I have known A soldier, soldiering on I was bound to something bigger And more important than a single human life I wore my uniform with honor My service was not a sacrifice But what saves you in the battle Can kill you at home A soldier, soldiering on

There are vets who kneel for the anthem and/or support the right to kneel by those who do. That's a totally separate issue.
