At this moment in time when Mary Poppins gliding above the audience nodded her head in respect to an enthralled Julie Andrews, we all reverted back to that moment in time when, as children, we first met and fell in love with Mary Poppins...and Julie Andrews. Magical innocence just rushes through you and for that "moment" we are eternally grateful. Thank you, Ms. Andrews. You are a world treasure.

During an interview years ago, Julie Andrews reported that one of the wires which held her up in the Mary Poppins movie suddenly snapped and she went crashing to the studio floor. It was at that moment that everyone on the set learned that Julie can swear like a sailor. Her dirty jokes are what attracted Blake Edwards to her at a party. Well, she DID grow up in theaters.

I would have cussed like a sailor too if I crashed on the ground. Another reason to love Julie Andrews!

The story of Blake Edwards and dirty jokes was not accurate. He was the one who told the joke about having lilacs for pubic hair. And Julie didn't know he said it until he told the story to her.

Like Lynda Carter is the reason why I love Wonder Woman (I also love Lynda Carter as herself) the same thing goes with Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins. Although Julie filmed the movie back in the 60s and I wasn’t born until 1977 over the 20 to 30 years that I have watched the original Mary Poppins starring Julie, Mary Poppins happens to be one of my favorite Julie Andrews movies. Julie herself is very magical not just as Mary Poppins but as her self because she is just absolutely divine. And also to see that Julie and Carol are still friends after these mini years is just beautiful. I also love Carol Burnett

Beatitud to see a little bit of that Wow feeling she always made us feel as Mary Poppins shining in her eyes. Dear Julie Andrews, what you felt in that minute is what you always made us feel with your charisma, and the passion and love you always showed us in whatever project you made. I have nothing else to say, but thank you. Thank you for teaching us that with a spoonful of sugar all bad things in life can get better, and that if we feed the birds we can forget about our own problems and realize how small sometimes they can be by helping someone in more or different need than us.❤

What an interesting life and career Julie Andrews has experienced! Her career started long before Mary Poppins, but as a child that was my introduction to Julie Andrews, then came Thoroughly Modern Millie and Sound of Music. It's hard to believe that 50 years plus has passed and she is still loved and relevant in so many ways. She really is a grand dame of theatre and film and voice over entertainment, deserving of such an award as Life Time Achievement. She exhibits true humility and seems quite humbled when ever interviewed. Julie Andrews was truly "A Star is Born!".
@manuelorozco776010 ай бұрын
I discovered Throughly Modern Millie during the lockdown. It’s decent for its time but I’m not a fan of the Japanese slaver storyline. But it was Mary Poppins that made me a fan of her too as a kid in the 90’s.

@@manuelorozco7760 We both discovered her far later in her career than many people imagine! If she were to perform the British National Anthem for King Charles 3rd she would have performed for 3 British Monarchs in her illustrious career!. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYHRqHiEj8aLbrc

I recently listened to a multi-part podcast from the Disney History Institute on the Sherman Brothers and the INCREDIBLE amount of work they put into the music for "Mary Poppins". When you consider that the studio was operating at its absolute peak and firing on ALL cylinders to make this film (and Walt knowing it was something special thus pushing everybody even harder), it's no wonder it turned into the legendary classic it has become.

I was eight when I first saw M.P. in 1965. Now a 64 year young man I still believe in the magic and lessons from this great film. # 1. In every job that must be done there is an element of fun. You find the fun and snap🤌the jobs a game...#2.Don't wait to give yourself to your child. #3. Remember to feed the birds. #4 Never judge a book by its cover, I'm sure I never do #5. Enjoy flying a kite or whatever brings out the kid in you....there are more but Mary Poppins is not only a step in time but listen and learn. Just a spoonful of sugar is all it takes.
