Mary Queen of Scots (FULL Audio Book)
by Jacob Abbott
There are certain names which are familiar, as names, to all mankind; and every person who seeks for any degree of mental cultivation, feels desirous of informing himself of the leading outlines of their history, that he may know, in brief, what it was in their characters or their doings which has given them so widely-extended a fame. Consequently, great historical names alone are selected; and it has been the writer's aim to present the prominent and leading traits in their characters, and all the important events in their lives, in a bold and free manner, and yet in the plain and simple language which is so obviously required in works which aim at permanent and practical usefulness. This volume is dedicated to Mary Queen of Scots. (Summary from the preface of the book)

Some pictures of the area would be lovely 😍. I've a great imagination, love reading books to put me there, however your narrative is taking us some place real. Let's see it :)) thank you so much 💓

Relax, people! In previous centuries, it was perfectly acceptable to call the Scots 'the Scotch'; the standardization of the language happened later and people were more flexible verbally in those days.

Why cannot religious people be content in their belief that those who believe differently will simply burn in hell forever instead of having to commit atrocities unto each other? If you're so damn sure you're right & they're wrong, let it go. Let them be. According to you, they'll get theirs in the afterlife. There is nothing noble nor pure nor justified in such abominable actions. Just stop it already. Ffs. We Are capable of being better than that. We just refuse to bother to try. "We" being humanity in general.

I can't listen to any more of this! Scotch is a drink, a broth or a bonnet, not a person. The author is offensive. Thanks anyway to the uploader and reader(s).

Cookiemonster my gawd I thought it was just me. Between scotch, the use of melancholy within two sentences and the lengthy asides, I can't make it to chapter 3. I know these are volunteers but their accents aren't helping.

This book was published in 1861. The author wasn't offensive. He was writing as they wrote in that era.

That is how it's pronounced. Good for you, being able to make sport of someone else instead of stepping up yourself. Have you tried reading aloud to people who haven't even enough respect to keep quiet instead of showing their nastiness?
