Relax, people! In previous centuries, it was perfectly acceptable to call the Scots 'the Scotch'; the standardization of the language happened later and people were more flexible verbally in those days.

Why cannot religious people be content in their belief that those who believe differently will simply burn in hell forever instead of having to commit atrocities unto each other? Cookiemonster my gawd I thought it was just me. Between scotch, the use of melancholy within two sentences and the lengthy asides, I can't make it to chapter 3. I know these are volunteers but their accents aren't helping.

This book was published in 1861. The author wasn't offensive. He was writing as they wrote in that era.
