Thats because Josh is apt socially and doesnt mind talking for a while to really make his point. Trust me there are far harder people to interview where this approach would not work. You have to be flexible as an interviewer, you cant have as a rule of thumb to not talk much

You may want to check out Jacob Collier. Brace yourself.
@Kleyguy7
@Kleyguy7 3 жыл бұрын
@@dknapp100 to me jacob collier is like "look at all the crazy things I can do", while turner just tries to do justice to a song he covers and convey it's mood. His compositions are also not as flashy as colliers. But I'm fan of Turner for a few years now so my opinion may be biased. For me they are two different musicians really.
@dknapp100
@dknapp100 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kleyguy7 I am a fan of Josh as well, for 8 years. In your reply you mentioned "doing justice to a song he covers" & I agree. Jacob, on the other hand, is a supremely gifted human being... covers, originals, collaborations, speeches, teaching, etc. Josh knows very well who/what Jacob is, as do most of the greatest living musicians on Earth. Enough said. I was replying to a comment of someone saying they've" seriously never seen anyone better", I was simply sharing Jacob Collier's talent. Its quite ok to like both! I'm sorry you don't enjoy him. Maybe try an original song of his? - "In the Real Early Morning" is a very down to Earth, not flashy, original comp. Truly hope you enjoy, & have a great day.

Josh's analysis of Nick Drake's tone first brought me to his channel. I found it really refreshing for him to breakdown all the techniques and equipment (like strings) instead of simply perpetuating the mythical guild rumors.

I’m a big fan of Josh even though I’m 69. I can see young talent when I hear it. I saw him in Leicester UK doing Graceland. Josh’s focus and comments about the 60s was spot on. I was a teenager at the time. I have a wacky theory about the impact of 1860s yes 1860s. I sense there’s a resonance in the turn of the century. Long story! It was a decade of great creativity and monumental discovery.

Agree with Josh -- the 60's from the first day to the end of them = incredible amount of really great groups, harmonies that were always spot on beautiful, the words used back then were so perfect for that time... You can spend years in the 60's music and never hear it all, there is so much !!! I also grew up in those 60's years and enjoyed every musical minute of those years too !!! Wish we had more time to learn more time to learn about both of you !!!

I never thought I could get excited about music again. Growing up in the 60s and 70s with the stadium concerts and the blow-out rock parties was the be all and end all I thought. And to a certain degree I guess I still feel that is true to a certain degree. I remember heading down Interstate 91 to see my first concert in a New Haven, CT arena. Kansas! Then there was Journey and the Stones in Philly at the football stadium, in 1981 I believe. Living in Western, Massachusetts, I recall being 17 and driving my dad's car to the Hartford Civic Center to see AC/DC play to a packed arena. There were other teenagers everywhere for that concert, drinking booze outside of the Hartford Civic Center, and then stumbling into a packed arena just to have AC/DC blow everyone's ears off! My ears always rang constantly for hours after a stadium concert (that wasn't unhealthy, was it? ). And of course, everyone drove back home from Connecticut to Massachusetts definitely drunk, with no seatbelts, and thinking nothing was wrong with doing that. Really, how dangerous could that be? It wasn't Nam!!! The modern music scene has felt so boring to me in comparison, but Josh and Carson have completely changed my attitude. They are awesome, and their covers like Operator, Harvest Moon, Heartlessly Hoping, Rocky Racoon, And Your Bird Can Sing, have made me love music again! Thanks so very much to Josh, Carson, and their collaborators! They have brought music back to my life, and it feels great!

I first heard Josh after searching for a Nick Drake live performance and found his cover of "Three Hours". He nailed it and I became a fan instantly.

My attention was first brought towards Josh was for his collaborations with Kami Maltz, doing Joni Mitchell covers. He's a great guitarist, good vocalist, and he's serious about his music.

Those who have been initiated into classical music have had their ears attenuated to the highest form of music. Like my 30 y/o son, they love great beat, melody, the creation of harmonious and weighty weft of contemporary music but when a jewel of classic, romantic or sacred choral music reaches their ears, they are touched!
