Me too! I have complex ptsd. He has been the nation’s abusive boyfriend. He is the most recent abuser in my life, and the last, Lord willing and therapy works! I’m glad you’re getting help. I have a Social Sciences background, as well as Liberal Arts. I also have a background in education. I would love to do peer counseling, or some such thing. Would you recommend a Cabinet position …..Social Sciences Secretary? has a nice ring!🤓❤️

Montreal-Canada civics teacher. In Quebec, there is a compulsory TWO YEAR course in 'Canadian history' in the last two years of primary school, which is the 'kiddy version' of the compulsory TWO YEAR course in 'Canadian history' in the 3rd & 4th year of high school, a course that goes into much more depth than does the grade-5/6 course. The secondary-3 & sec.-4 June exam is a BIG, Provincial Gov. exam and no teacher gets to correct the papers of his or her own students, and our kids can't graduate high school without passing the two-year course. I taught the two-year course for several years in both high school and primary school. In early October of 2010, in a primary class with French, English and Cree children, an eleven year old asked me "...But Miss, who are the 'good guys'?" Of her four grand-parents, this student had two French-Canadian grand-parents, one Cree and one Anglophone. Her question became the whole class' question; I replied "If by the end of November, you haven't figured it out, ask me again and I'll tell you." On about the 20th of November, in the middle of math class, my student suddenly burst out with one word: "Democracy! Miss, it's democracy." Any parent who has ever put a child to bed has heard this supplication: "Read me just one more story, pleeeease! Just one more." Children have an inborn thirst to know history. It is a vital, visceral, essential need. We all need to study history. Unless every teen graduates with a passion to keep learning history, ANYBODY'S history, my history, your history, the history of the immigrant next door, for the rest of his or her life, then we, as story-telling parents, and we as history teachers, are terrible at our jobs! In September of 2009, a boy walked into my Secondary-3 class on the first day of school, flopped down and muttered 'I hate history and Canadian history is the most boring history on the entire planet! Wake me up in an hour.' Before the end of the day (it was a Tuesday), I'd gone home, retrieved 3 DVDs from my movie collection, found out where his locker was, met him there, and handed him REVOLUTION (1985) (with Al Pacino), THE PATRIOT (2000) (with Mel Gibson), and GANDHI (1982). I asked him to watch the three movies and told him that when he returned the DVDs to me, I'd have two questions and one invitation for him. On Friday, I saw his group right after lunch. TEN minutes before class was to begin, the boy walked into class, handed me the three DVDs and said: "Good movies, Miss. What are your questions." "How many people did it take for India to get rid of Britain?" The boy thought for a moment, looked at me and said 'Gandhi; one.' "How many people did it take for the U.S. to get rid of Britain?" The boy quickly said "A whole hell of a lot." I then said : "Okay. So, Canada, did things in a completely, different, screwed up, assinine way. I want you to be curious to find out how. You have my permission to sleep through my class if you want. But I hope you'll want to be wide awake to find out how our history is different and unique and exciting in its own, boring, quiet way." If, as a global society, we do not keep alive, in every child, that pleading thirst for "just one more story, pleeease", then we suck at our jobs.

HUGE Fan of Mary Trump! Thanks for having her on to discuss her latest book! Refreshing hearing a white female speak clearly about the history of enslavement and the lack of accountability throughout history. As a black woman I laughed nervously as she commented about the strength of black women. Frankly, it's exhausting dealing with the results of folks in American society never being held accountable or liable for their crimes. Cheers for publishing great conversations!

@@donnav7103 she gives a professional psychological opinion on her uncles very public daily narcissistic antics. Trump is a very transparent one trick pony, consistent. The same shit different day type personality. Given the way Trump cut off her brothers special needs child’s healthcare benefits because they refuse to sign the paperwork to refuse their fathers inheritance. Showed his cruel streak. Though he eventually stole their inheritance for which she is now suing him for. And given that she had access to the Trump business reports for the real estate business created by Fred Trump Sr and managed by Weisselberg she knows enough about his shady dealings that it was she who turned over the tax information to the NYTimes to out his shady tax work in 2018. One doesn’t have to be around a dog everyday to know that he’s capable of biting. She has professionally analyzed both her grandfather and her uncles personality. But we're NOT an educated cultured society! That's just the point. Only some of us are that lucky. Over the last 50 years (and longer) we have been seeing the deliberate dumbing down of America. Public education has been deliberately failing us. A massive number of our society are being TRAINED in school- not EDUCATED.

And done deliberately for this taking down of the Crown’s ‘Corporation’ and long, long planned. 50 years plus. The dumbed down deplorable’s were groomed for this time. It’s way deeper than the CONald. Where do you think this dark money Sheldon Whitehouse exposed is coming from? Billionaire corporations. America IS the Crown’s corporation. Look at your money. United States of America ‘Incorporated’. We still pay taxes to the Crown too. The ones who started the American ‘experiment’ are the ones shutting it down. Look up.... ‘The Second Constitution of the United States of America’. ‘The Papal Bull’. And ‘Three City States Rule the World’. Then you will see what’s really going on. DC serves The Crown, who OWN the media and not just Fox! Right, Left and Alt. DC politics is primarily ‘theater’ to distract you. Because, to be sure, they have this planned and settled.

Trump is always careful about choosing the right words to get someone to do his dirty work. Like any respectable mob boss, he knows how to keep his hands clean. He is sly enough to use words that IMPLY what he wants done, instead of being too direct, which would get him in trouble. He didn't say, "Go storm the Capitol, beat the Capitol officers, or hang Mike Pence," but "if you don't fight like hell, you're not gonna have a country anymore. We're going to walk down to the Capitol...." seemed to do the job just fine. The mob knew exactly what he was asking of them, and their actions immediately afterward is proof that he did, indeed, incite a riot. It's right there in front of our eyes on video, for crying out loud! Who chose the date, the time, and the place for the pre-insurrection pep rally? Who tweeted the invitations to his followers to be there? (Will be wild!) Who chose the speakers for the event to rile up the crowd? Who told the mob to go down to the Capitol and fight like hell while Congress was counting the electoral votes? The buck stops with the leader. How is he still a free man?

With one caveat...all of her "positive character traits" are lost in her mesmerizing look of doom.

@@catherinewindsor1654 Well, I think you describe the look quite accurately, but it is the only way to look right now, because things really are that bad! They are!

I have both of Mary’s books because I respect her and want to support her as she exposes the evil which is affecting our nation’s mental and physical health as well as our democracy.

Common sense Q&A, common sense conversation. This format, albeit via zoom lends itself to useful, substantive dialogue. It will be even better when such gatherings can happen in person. Good show. Keep up the good work.

Common Sense is also the title of a famous book by Thomas Paine! Thomas Paine was a RADICAL PROGRESSIVE! He actually wanted to free the slaves and give women the right to vote! The Southern colonies refused to sign the Declaration of Independence of slavery was outlawed. I took an Advanced History class in the 1970's. I came upon Paine's book browsing through the school library history section . It was never recommended on our reading list. I read it on my own! No wonder nobody wanted us to read Paine! As a Progressive I totally understand how racist and sexism ran through my Upper- Middle class education in Pennsylvania!!!! I am definitely a PROGRESSIVE Voter! Too many Democrats ( Moderates) / Corporate Democrats are just as bad as Republicans. I call those Democrats , Republican Lite!!!! That is exactly why nothing ever changes! Or keeps getting worse!!!!!

@@darensmith5270 there is no comparison between the evil radical Right esp now and the Democrats. Yes we must be bold and stand up more assertively now but Rome was not made in a day! It’s taken many, many years and lives for how far we came and yes the Reds have destroyed much of it but it is not and never has been easy to evolve an entire country forward esp when so many have their dirty heels stuck in the muck.
