Afar are the most beautiful people of Ethiopia. The skin, hair and white teeth are everything. Did I mention the men are tall and gorgeous. The men only marry within their tribal group they won’t even marry other fellow Ethiopians. Preserving their culture and history. I remember when the Afar people use to come to my town to sell their products. As a young girl I loved getting my hair braided by one of the Afar women when they came to town for the Saturday market.

Walked to back of store where a group of men were sitting on the floor , around a rug or cloth that had a main dish and they were tearing off pieces of flat bread and scooping the food from the pot. I inquired as to what the food was as it smelled delicious. Right away all of them invited me to try it. I love trying new food. It was so…. good! I forgot what the name was. They were the only Ethiopian people I ever met, and they were generous, inviting and kind. My friend did not want to try because she was squimish about eating with hands, her loss. More for me!
