The DVD I have actually has the extended ending where Drake actually stays dead after changing back with a bit of extra narration from Ryan Reynolds which cuts to that final shot of Blade riding off on his bike. The original ending I thought was a bit confusing because I thought Blade was always at the morgue and he went back to hunting vampires again shortly after.

Blade Trinity was David S. Goyer's 2nd film as director. He was the main screenwriter of the entire trilogy. Blade debuting in The Tomb of Dracula comics (1973) was to be one of many foes for The Prince of Darkness himself. It was only right that the villain of this film would Dracula as Blade's ultimate challenge. The original vision was post-apocalyptic with Dracula's return to power. Instead it was kept modern and added characters (Nightstalkers) from those comics. Dracula/Drake was depleased with how vampires were more loved than feared, like they weren't a threat anymore and i liked that. The extended cut is a bit better than the theatrical version plus 2 alternate endings that were interesting. Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King was much different than the comics and behind the scenes, the Deadpool character was actually mentioned to RR and the rest was history. Jessica Biel aka Wifey of J.T. as Abigail Whistler was based on Rachel Van Helsing from the comics as an similar legacy connection. Still has the tone of the other films. Less wire work, more hardcore fighting and everyone is in amazing shape for this one. The storyline is cool, score/soundtrack are both good. But it's seen as the worse for a reason. It all began behind the scenes. Controversy with how the film was written and directed. Also leading to on-set altercations, contractual and legal battles with the studios, Wesley's disapproval with the process of it being made. The movie didn't flop, but even some audiences weren't pleased neither. Blade had the first-ever Marvel original series for mature audiences, pre-Netflix. Ran 1 season (13 episodes) om Spike tv, set in the same universe as the trilogy following the events of Trinity. Even if Trinity was considered the worse, Goyer as an filmmaker bounced back with creating the screenstory for The Dark Knight Trilogy and co-writing Batman Begins with Christopher Nolan.

My favorite piece of trivia about this movie: Jessica Biel became an Olympic-class archer and wound up destroying a VERY expensive camera. They set up for her to shoot straight at the camera with a shield in place, with a 2-inch (≈5cm) hole for the lens, and told her to aim at the hole since there was no way she'd hit it. Then she did. That take is on the blooper reel, you see her loose, then the image gets screwy, but you can make out her slapping a hand over her mouth in horror.

Hi Mary, I think you'll agree, this movie had a lot of good ideas with very few of them executed very well. The director, David S. Goyer was the primary screenwriter on all three films, but this was his first directing gig. Legend has it that Wesley Snipes was pretty upset that he was sharing the spotlight with two characters that were being set up for a spin-off film. At the time, Ryan Reynolds said that he never met Wesley Snipes, but he worked with Blade. Wesley was apparently a total asshole to him the entire time and never broke character. It was also said that Snipes was openly revolting against David Goyer and refused to come out of his trailer unless it was for essential close-ups. The bare minimum required to fulfill his contract. Snipes' stunt double was in pretty much every scene that wasn't a close-up. This may have negatively affected the final film, given the star was refusing to co-operate. Snipes refused to promote the film as well, and you can tell this all must be largely true because he was conspicuously absent from allmthe special features on the DVD. It's amazing that Ryan Reynolds asked Snipes to reprise the role of Blade, but it shows Ryan isn't at all petty. In press for Deadpool & Wolverine, Snipes and Reynolds are acti g likenone of this happened. Clearly trying to resuscitate Snipes' flagging career. There was just too much evidence surrounding the release of Blade Trinity to support the revisionist history they are peddling now.

Whilst Drake is not an interesting antagonist, I think they actually did a smart thing by not having the long-hair, long-features, seductive type of look for him. This works better in a modern setting, and he's a shape-shifter anyway, so a 'look' is just what he prefers at the time.

Ryan was in a ton of comedies during this time, and this wise-cracking troublemaker was basically his character in all of them. He's said he's been a fan of Deadpool for a long time, and he pushed so hard to play the character and to get a legit Deadpool movie made. So, his portrayal of Deadpool is just the culmination of all that, and, while I understand when folks make the comparison between his portrayals of Wade and Hannibal, it's all just Ryan being Ryan.
