@@gabrieldobson3469ressing X to doubt here - he is LITERALLY death. If he truly wanted Puss dead, he'd have killed him, easily. Death was not here to kill Puss, but to make Puss think he was trying to kill him - Puss "laughed in the face of death" and thus did not respect him, so this whole process was just about Death teaching Puss a lesson. If Death was able to see all of Puss's lives and all of his deaths because he's been around this whole time, as well as being in the crystal structure where Puss's old lives appeared, then Death was fully capable of following Puss the whole time. Think about it. Every time Death showed up, he always knew where Puss was. Because he was following Puss. He knew Puss was changing, but he needed Puss to understand he was changing too. It was all about teaching Puss to accept and respect that Death wins every fight and to springboard this message to live a good life. The wolf isn’t fear he’s death
@Drake844221 Жыл бұрын
As someone who has no love for the Shrek franchise, and never even saw the first Puss in Boots movie, I didn't expect to have any interest in this one. And then people started going on about the wolf... and Puss' panic attack... and I just had to see it, and I've completely fallen in love with it. Horribly enough, I _get_ why Death is fed up with him. Even in the opening scene, we see him directly put people in danger by starting a sword fight in the middle of a crowd (granted, he's good enough to make sure no one else gets hurt), but then waking up the sleeping giant by firing off a barrel full of fireworks _inside of the building_. The fact is that Puss doesn't simply "not fear death," he doesn't value life - his own or the lives of others. He's wasted eight lives as though none of them even mattered, and he didn't care about whether his actions put others in danger. All that mattered was "the legend." So... yeah. I can 100% see Death getting _very_ aggravated with someone like that, because a good depiction of death isn't about just going out and harvesting people en masse, they are a custodian of the living at the ends of their lives. Death from Sandman is a great example of that, and as chill as she is, even she would be pissed off at Puss. And with the way that he showed up during the escape from Jack Horner, when Puss knocked the chest of gold over into the street? Yeah. Puss showed that his time at Mama Luna's didn't humble him, it was just depression. He put the lives of all of those people in danger, because if even one of those horses hadn't stopped in time, people would have been trampled, and it would have been pretty nasty. Still, I'm about as glad as Death was that Puss learned the necessary lesson.

Apparently when the wolf gets angry at the end and spirals off into Spanish, he says something along the lines of "This is what I get for playing with my food." Implying that yes, at any time he could have finished Puss off, but he enjoyed tormenting someone who'd been laughing at him this whole time, that the fear and panic he instilled in Puss was him playing around before the final confrontation. Unfortunately, that, and the interactions Puss has with the rest of the characters put a new perspective into Puss's mind and he starts to appreciate the value of his life, which pisses the wolf off in realizing he missed his chance to punish someone's arrogance because he relished in the tormenting too much. Death isn't a bad guy, he's an unstoppable force that shouldn't be taken lightly, but at the end of the day he is not evil. When Puss appreciated his life and stopped taking stupid risks Death was absent, like at Mama Luna's. But every time he was in a near death situation or began to forget the fear of death the wolf would reappear again, including when he was about to make the wish and take the cowards way out. I have no doubt that if Puss had made the wish, Death would have pursued relentlessly through each of those extra lives.
@Lopez03Eduardo. Жыл бұрын
There are several subtle hints about Death's true identity throughout the film go back and watch. The numbered cards during the death montage have a hooded wolf with sickles at the four corners. He makes his very first entrance by suddenly appearing right next to Puss with ghostly silence. Prior to that, he could be seen in the top left corner of the screen as the camera pans over the villagers of Del Mar watching Puss as he battles the giant. Unlike everyone else, he is not cheering for the cat and is instead ominously staring at him. His weapons are a pair of sickles, and his attire is a pitch-black cowl, which bare a strong resemblance to the Grim Reaper's scythe and cloak respectively. Also, his appearance as a silvery-white, bipedal wolf with a gray mark on his face is likely a reference to how the Grim Reaper is usually depicted as a be-robbed skeleton in folklore. During his first encounter with Puss, Death notes that "Everyone thinks they'll be the one to defeat me. But no one's escaped me yet", meaning that everybody dies one day. When Puss once makes another crack at death, the Wolf scratches his wanted poster, hinting his anger at Puss' arrogant claim. When Puss, Kitty and Perrito escape from Big Jack Horner's henchmen, Death puts two stray coins over his eyes as he watches him leave, making him look like a corpse. This is also a reference as to how Ancient Greeks buried the dead with coins over their eyes so they would have money for passage to the Underworld. When Puss sees Death for the first time in the Dark Forest, the scenery surrounding him looks like a skull. Death keeps appearing out of thin air with seemingly no one but Puss (initially) able to see him. This is a pretty clear indication that he is no mere bounty hunter. While every other major character is introduced with a wanted poster (sans for Perrito, who has an "unwanted poster"), he isn't. This lampshades how Death is not a criminal and merely wanted to hunt down Puss specifically for wasting his lives. During Puss's visit to the vet, his death is emphasized to him by the vet blowing out a candle. Likewise, shortly before Death appears in the bar, one of the candles on the chandelier above extinguishes, foreshadowing him coming to end Puss's life. Another detail you might have missed Death's infamous whistle is eight beats long, mirroring how he's already taken eight of Puss's lives. During his fight with Puss when he summons the ring of fire, this melody lasts for nine beats until he starts talking instead, showing how Death is fully intent on taking the cat's last life. Likewise, when Death spares Puss and leaves the whistle's notes are higher, giving it a less menacing tone as he now respects Puss and wishes to let him live his life well. Also in case anyone who doesn't speak Spanish here's what Death's quick rant in Spanish (¡¿POR QUÉ DIABLOS FUI A JUGAR CON MI COMIDA!?) roughly translates into English "WHY THE HELL DID I GO TO PLAY WITH MY FOOD?!?", likely showing his disappointment in toying with Puss over the course of his journey instead of killing him when given the chance.

What I like is that puss didn’t defeat death he accepted that he will one day die but he will live his life to the fullest.

he did defeat him in fight lol

I trained my cat to pee and poo in a toilet, so it's doable. You just need a dedicated bathroom for them to use (we had an extra half bath downstairs that was rarely used so it wasn't a problem).

This movie is so much better than the Mario Movie, because it doesn't rely too much on Nostalgia and Fan Service to make it really good.
@boboboy8189 Жыл бұрын
agree, people hyping up Mario movie but after watch it, it's just another mediocre movie full of fan service. it does remind me how spiderman no way home did. without old villain, that movie is just another spiderboy cliche like previous 2

I know I’m preaching to the choir but Death was the best animated antagonist I’ve seen in a while.

Just finished rewatching this movie for the third time (its good :D) and decided to search for reactions; and yours was the first that popped up. And it was kinda awesome to hear you say "dunny" (made me realize you're a fellow Aussie; I'm in VIC). Loved your genuine emotional reactions. And loved your point about bears hybernating and how that could be lonely for a human (first time I've ever heard that opinion and its a really solid one!) First time seeing your content. I'll have a search through your other stuff. Thankyou for making this vid

i’ve seen so many reactions to this movie and i’ve peeped that 1. mostly none of them know that the “snack” Jack eats is the cookie from Alice in wonderland and 2. everyone wants perrito to get the wish even tho he mentioned multiple times that he doesn’t want/needs the wish

I went to the theaters to watch this movie because of the post credit scene that hinted at a new Shrek movie, but left astonished by how beautiful this film was.

It's Death, he comes for us all sooner or later and Puss acknowledges that Death will come for him again as he does for everyone. 10 years, 100 years or 1,000 years, Death will return. But that's ok for Puss in the end as he won't waste this live the way he has wasted his other 8. When Death comes for him again Puss will have done his best to be satisfied with what he had. BTW, Death was after Puss, because Puss was disrespectful. Not just towards Death, but to his own lives. However, there are stories where heroes have defied Death, at least for a while. Heroes, not arrogant braggarts like Puss was in the beginning. Everyone can laugh at Death, but staring him right in the eye without flinching? That takes real courage and acceptance of your own mortality.

puss in boots is a hero in the beginning, he saved people from giant, didn't he?

Hmm best cat movie ever made? IDK. I loved "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," but "The Cat from Outer Space" will always have a special place in my heart!

Jack Horner is amazing because he is evil to be evil no redemption that's what we have been needing in movies lately

When Death said he will come back, what he meant was Puss will 100% die someday (as with everyone else)

Not fun fact about this movies story: Antonio Banderas had a heart attack 6 years ago, and a sequel almost never happened because of it. If the story feels more emotional and personal, it's because it is.

I gotta say the female character I like is not just kitty soft paws, but also Mama Bear 🐻 because of a good heart she has. You know something thinking that it’s like a shrek -based movie I would think mama B would make a best friend to Fiona

This movie goes hard, and it had no right doing that. Probably one of the new classic animated movies to ever come out. I'm hyped for Shrek 5.

Puss is an actual fairy tale before shrek. It’s about a cat that helps a commoner become a prince or something by being a conman.

Puss fought better in the second fight with death cause he finally knew what he was fighting for and he did not have a big ego like he had on the first fight with death
