I'm 73, been doing the side part since a co-worker who had training as a hairstylist suggested it. Because I was menopausal & my center part was thinning. Dr. Mary Claire Havers I just wish to GOD there had been a doctor of your sort available in my day. I am sharing your videos with my perimenopausal 43 year old daughter & a 51 year old new friend. You are amazing. My daughter still has hesitating in believing. But my 51 year old is gobbling up every video I send her.

I lost my dad in 2020 to Sepsis. Then a few months later in 2022 my husband had another of his many affairs & filed for divorce. Then a few month later my only sibling (brother) six day's after celebrating his 46th birthday, dropped dead of a massive heart attack. He had no children & I have no children. I'm left to care for my only other immediate family member... my 88 year old mother. It's been really hard mentally/emotionally & physically with 3 spinal surgeries & now I'm in Perimenopaus. So, yup, I'm guessing my Dermatologist diagnosed me correctly with mild alopecia. 😫😭💔

I'm 33 and going through extreme hair loss, you can see my scalp all over. It's traumatizing, especially because my hair was very long, thick, healthy, full & a part of my identity, I LOVED my hair so so so much! My hair was always complemented & admired by people, its like I'm being punished. My hair loss started a year ago, but the last few months it has been just falling out, all day.. Showers are traumatizing, brushing is hell. I'm starting minoxidil tomorrow. I pray it works. I'm tripping so hard. Of all the aesthetic things that could happen to me, this is like taking my favorite part of me away from me.

@mrs.h4484 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, see a dermatologist if have not done so. Don't take you are just losing hair due to genetics either. You may be low on something and stressing adds to it. I started losing hair on and off in my early 30's after starting a high stress job. The things that helped was birth control pills(low androgen), becoming pregnant, and minoxidil helped some. I just would notice hair growth with these things. These things, of course, at different times. So androgen has something to do with hair loss also. Every time I have had a stress to by body I would experience hair shed. To add there has been a study on rosemary oil, oregano oil works as well as minoxidil. To add, currently I am using keratin intensive hair drops.

Look into finasteride, my hair was thinning due to menopause, then I was diagnosed with Uterine cancer and went through a radical hysterectomy 9 months ago, I had a huge amount of hair fall out following surgery, I could see my scalp in areas, I started on finasteride 5mgs a day and my hair is very noticeably growing back, I had tried minoxidil and never saw much of a change, it only kept what I had or slowed down the loss, it also irritated my scalp, please talk to your doctor, I have not had any side effects and I am also on a .5 estradiol patch, again talk to your doctor but I have had great results.

Just do the rice water. I'm a hair dresser and this is instant and works quickly for so many. I use rice water as a mousse too. And stop coloring so dark and pulling in buns. Cut the hair and add the dimension, it makes a massive difference. There are fantastic toppers out there. The Mona by Suelly is literally 83 dollars right now. Totally customizable, human hair. Lightweight 3 clips. Very unique piece. Stop fighting this and trying to look young. Embrace the differences and age and don't be afraid to wear hair!

I have used nearly all home remedies, but what made a difference for my hair loss control was these. 1 glass warm water to drink as 1st item when you wake up. Using neem wood comb. Using soft microfiber towel on shampoo day. Some gentle exercises. Using Litttleextra Coconion anti hair fall set once or 2 times a week.

This video is so very helpful and informative! I’ve just in the last couple of months figured out that I am perimenopausal, but over the last year or so I’ve noticed the very same areas you indicated on your own scalp thinning on mine. I’ve tried castor oil to no avail and I have to keep my hair pulled back because I have a baby, and also I’m in Atlanta where it’s WAY to hot to wear my hair down. I am ordering minoxidil posthaste. God bless ya. I love that you teach us the science behind things and assume we’re smart enough to learn the information, which by the way is the same thing I love about the Galveston Diet so far- I feel that learning the science behind what has happened to my poor body will help me make great choices when I’m confronted with cravings or lack of motivation. I searched forever for information about menopause and felt so unprepared, but with your knowledge as a resource I am feeling much better about how to manage this time of my life. Especially because I have very young children and I don’t want to be suffering and temperamental while managing their emotions and development. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I was so afraid and now I’m not. Golly that was verbose, sorry doc! Hahaha 😄

Just a correction, minoxidil does not block DHT. The exact mechanism of minoxidil on inducing hair growth is still being researched and there are different possible mechanisms, but none include blockage of androgen receptors. That is why minoxidil won’t stop the progression of androgenetic alopecia. 🙂

My sister was seen by derms etc. Had the T. E. ( Massive hair loss) nobody really pin points the cause. She also lost massive amounts of muscle tine and weight and her skin was sooooo dry. We knew there were some thyroid issues erc.. Minoxidil was recommended but my sister wanted to get to the root of the cause. Pun intended. Finally she asked her doc for HRT. Finally she got the HRT- 6mos skin, health hair and body weight normalized 1 year later almost back to pre menopause (which by the way has been going on for a couple years) she had to demand treatment and of course pay out of pocket. But quality of life is much better. Vitality is back. My poor Sister ❤️we go through so much before we can get the help we need. Then we get hit over the head with having to pay out od pocket. Wtf is the point of insurance! It's so sad.. we are on our own. Thanks for shedding light on the subject ❤️

@@normagregory8400 ‘Ok’ does not mean optimal. Neither does ‘in range’ as reference ranges are too wide. Ask doctor for a copy of your labs including reference ranges, each time you test anything… to even know if doctor is testing the thyroid panel and not just TSH, a pituitary marker.

Hi there, i have thin hair thinning too, and now on perimenopause it's even worst. So, these things are helping me a lot, (it's still falling but no so much, and it's also growing a lot too): -Pumpkin seed oil capsules _Nuts (a handful) daily any,( except peanuts,) and brazil coconuts only take 1 a day, it's packed with selenium but you only need one otherwise your weight will increase. _Increase protein intake _Good collagen supplement _2 litres of water daily _No ponytails at all _Redken champoo (i'm on the freeze free, red one at the moment, but i find them all good), as long as it's not cheap shampoo, the hair needs it now. _A hair mask with a mixture of avocado oil, almond oil, castor oil, rosemary oil (just 2 drops), olive oil, pure argan oil. I buy these oils separately, 100% pure, only the oil. Make a mixture in a bottle, mostly the almond oil, a quarter of the castor and avocado, it doesn't have to be specific, the important thing is to soak the hair in the oil, i put it in my hands carefully as it's messy and i just apply it as a mask, massage, specially on hair line, I put it up on a bun in the morning and wash it all of in the night shower, just ones a month or so... _Vitamins : I take vit D2& K2, vit C, magnesium, zinc, ubiquinol, omega3. good quality supplements,( not cheap ones from the market.) _And topically after every wash i take this serum that it's really magic, I can see baby hairs on top of my hair and my hair line!, it's by Scandinavian Biolabs ( I saw it in an add on youtube), it's not cheap, but it really works, i'm already using a 4th bottle. They do the whole range, but I didn't like the shampoo, only the serum, and it's like water, it won't bother the hair styling. _I also try to avoid hairdressers as much as i can, as they can be to rough with the hair. My hair it's very shinny at the moment and i really think all this makes a difference. I used to eat a lot of salmon, tuna, avocadoes and just whole foods, but 3 months ago i went vegan, and i could notice in my hair ( probably not the best time to turn vegan! ). _Also no sugar ! Hope this helps. Regards

Topical progesterone can also be very helpful for hair loss. Important for women to test ferritin not just FBC and haemoglobin. I would suggest topical progesterone, saw palmetto and pumpkin seed extract if you don't want to go down the minoxidil route....or add these to the minoxidil. Question I thought spirinolactone was very dangerous to the liver?

This is amazing information. I am 58 and now a Zumba Fitness instructor and on my way to becoming a Personal Trainer. I just went for a haircut the other day and my stylist told me that my hair is thinning out. I am a vegetarian and still eat poultry on the weekends. So I eat lots of veggies, tempeh, tofu and hummus as well as plenty of fruit. I must drink lots of water through out the day too! My own personal trainer told me to drink 1 gallon each day, and that's not so easy because I cannot sleep well. So I drink about 60 oz and maybe 1-2 days per week I drink 100 oz. However, I do take Maca Root Capsules for my hot flashes and feel really good because it balances my hormones too! There is so much to learn! Thanks for all the information!

Thank you so much for all your dedication. I was going to ask you about hair color- it’s okay to get your hair colored? It won’t create more hair loss? Any thoughts on hydro scalp facials and how about the laser headbands? Thanks for your time.

So I’m 46, started bcp’s in January ( peri, adenomyosis, and terrible periods,) I had a great response. Started keto right after because I had gained 30 lbs with Covid /peri/ quit smoking , lost 25 lbs. After 3 months the pharmacy substitute a different brand of bcp’s , now I’m losing hair by the handful. I can see my scalp on both sides where I normally have baby hairs. I’m not sure which to investigate first …

Thank you for the recommendations of the spray bottle and using it only at night. I stopped using minoxidil because I didn't like using the foam and couldn't keep up with the twice a day recommendations.

You are amazing. I'm 37 and have early menopause because of genetics have severe hair loss and experiencing all that you explained and mentioned. I have done my lab tests and all of them are fine. Will minoxidil really work and is there an alternate solution like minoxidil and any natural remedies? Also having bad sleep because menopause. Please advise

Yaz is fantastic, but i quit for 4 months, at 43, and then a third of my hair fell out, I am now back on it and hope to grow it back in the next 6 - 12 months. Daily topical rosemary oil slowed the shed within days, with double zinc supplement intake.

I "think" I'm having some success (started sleeping with it on my head on 4/20/22) with rosemary essential oil mixed with a little EVOO for my worse sudden hair loss now. I've had hair loss for decades, but it's dramatically worse now and I've lost 50% of my hair that was never thick to begin with. I'm 55. I have lots of little baby hairs now in my temples and all along my hairline. Rosemary essential oil was tested against Minoxidil and did just as well with less side effects.

So grateful for your video. I’ve been spinning my wheels trying to find out what type of doctor I should see because I’ve lost a lot of hair. I do have hypothyroid, waiting for New results on that and I had surgery back in February so I’ve heard that could be a reason? But my hair has been thinning for the last two years. I Had a hysterectomy and Louise removed 20 years ago. I am 63 years. I skin is also changed trying to get into Dermatologist.

I'm from the UK and read Finasteride helps with hair growth (post menopausal). I've contacted two companies which sell it but they both say its not suitable for women and not licenced to sell it - . I'm so confused as you say we can take it. I would like to start taking along side minoxidil. I am so desperate to save what hair I have left. Thank you

Thx for the great video on hair loss. I react terribly to minoxidil and cannot use it. Am not sure what else to do. Used Nutrafol and no it doesn't work. Am trying rosemary now. Have seen three dermatologists and the last has me on Finesteride which doesn't seem to work! May try minoxidil again. Had a hysterectomy at 28 and still take estriodol, but probably not enough. I am 82!

I am taking oral minoxidil 2 mg and spironolactone 100 mg over a year prescribed by a dermatologist. I am 38 and he said I would be taking it as long as I want the hair to stay on my head. Just trying to find out what are the longterm side effects of taking it orally. I would rather wear a wig than loose a kidney.

does hairdye affect or weaken follicles and hairloss? It seems like my hairloss started around same time i began using cheap store bought dye instead of going to salon for professional dye job, (approx 4 yrs ago). In fact, it seems like i notice more loss in days/weeks following home hairdying. i follow all instructions for proper amount of time, and color is not overly lightening, etc... i am 55 yrs old. In the beginning, i was seeing lots of hairloss in shower, but not anymore... yet i am still seeing less and less hair on my head. Right in the front/center is where i notice the thinning and hairline receded a little and is continuing to. also seems like i have less or thinner hair all over, but front/center is where i can actually see thinning, and see thru to my scalp. thyroid tested no problems...ferritin a little low...

I have massive hair loss every day when I wake up in the morning, in the shower, and everywhere. My hair though is still thick, thank god but I see some baby hair growing that I think has something to do with an aloe vera shampoo that I am using right now. I am afraid though that I might not be able to sustain this and I am afraid of getting bald on my scalp. I guess my question is if aloe vera is good for strengthening hair follicles? I am running out of the shampoo and if they run out of stock I am thinking of using a real plant to help me with my hair loss. What do you think?

I haven't even hit menopause yet, I'm 43 and I'm already losing hair in the parting line and sides. :-( I don't think I can afford any medicines or ANY ANYTHING, really nothing, I can afford to breathe and work work work, (personal project), but at least I want to know what's happening with me and if can at least be stopped, not regrowing hair for the time being but at least stop losing it. I had a consultation with a dermatologist a month ago and she just prescripted a shampoo for dandruff. She never bothered explaining anything. I'm not going to waste my money and time.

I’m 45 and have been dealing with hair loss for 2 yrs now. All my labs were fine. I used to take Yaz but stopped because 1) I developed Melasma on my cheeks (could be from estrogen + sun) and 2) I had a 2nd breast reduction (they grew back during pregnancy) so I want to avoid estrogen. I also heard that Spironalactone can drive breast growth. What other choices do I have? Thanks! I’m subscribing ♥️.
