Marry this is a good thing for me to help my son. He uses heavy cream in his Coffee. He has to watch the sugar and also drives delivery truck and needs to use Stevia so powdered creamer is out. I will make this without the sweetener and he can add his own liquid sweetener. I also wanted to tell you that I had some Vanilla tablets my Great Grandpa made to sell in his country store over 100 years ago, I used the last a few years ago. They were sealed tightly and I used it in my cakes and people loved them. The secret is keep it sealed tight. Thanks so much for all your ideas.

@Pfrazier43 just wanted to point you to my comment just posted. I lost 170 lbs eating keto (20 grams of carbs a day mainly from greens, cream and butter). Most people use the lazy keto method (100 grams of carbs) and complain about not losing weight so I used what was medically recommended as far back as the 1920s and it worked!! See if he's interested in reading the book I started with - How We Get Fat - and What to do About it.

I would add that for dieters and diabetics needing to reduce glucose a good alternative for sweeteners is Lakanto Monkfruit sweetener with Erythritol. It is virtually indistinguishable from cane sugar, combines with flavors, and is used 1:1 by volume.
@ericnonya365023 күн бұрын
Erythritol is a sugar alcohol used as a low-calorie sweetener. Eating a large amount of it may cause digestive issues, including nausea. It may also be associated with blood clots and heart problems
@bcwbarb22 күн бұрын
I've not tried Monkfruit, but I understand it can be used alone for those that have concerns about Erythritol. I have used Erythritol alone while eating keto and it was fine. The cooling effect is what bothers most people. It's really too late in my life to have major concerns about using it or Splenda, for example, and I'm certain that weighing 368 lbs did far more harm to me than any of the artificial sweeteners I used while losing 170 lbs. I still have more that I want to lose and am going to love making this coffee creamer to suit my taste and goals.

@@lindaperry975 one way to do it is to pour your heavy cream or whatever you're going to use into an ice tray. Add a flavored syrup like the ones they use in coffee shops to taste and freeze. Thank you 🙏 This video gave me lots of ideas of what I could flavor my own "coffee creamer" with. Call me lazy, I just use the plain non fat powdered milk and spoon it directly into my coffee... 😳 I will sometimes add some flavor but, since hubby always buys the hazelnut coffee beans, which I also love the taste of, I just go with the plain powdered non fat milk, without adding anything to it. I do however buy the powdered milk in bulk and pour it into pint or quart Mason jars, vacuum seal them and store in my pantry. Vacuum sealing and keeping them in a dark relatively cool environment, greatly increases the shelf-life, far beyond what is stated on the original package. If you have a vacuum sealer which you can vacuum seal meat, food stuffs etc. the newer models come with a tube you can attach to a special cap (one for regular and one for wide mouth Mason jars) you push it down over your jars with the lid on the jar, push the suction button and it will suck the air out of the jar and when you remove the attachment/cap you've had over the top of the jar/lid that the suction tube connects too, it will be sealed (removed all air) as if you had pressure cooked something. If you don't have a vacuum sealer, you can buy a "break bleeder" in the automotive department, (much cheaper and doesn't break as easy...) a contraption you or hubby uses when changing the break fluid in your car, that sucks the air out of the system. I have both and actually prefer the break bleeder. Like I wrote above, I'm lazy and it easier to grab the break bleeder than pull out the vacuum sealer from the cupboard and make room for it on my counter... 😉 Well, perhaps not lazy lazy but, if I can do something an easier way, I'll most of the time opt for keeping it simple, as long as I know that the food items I preserve and store for long term are safe and shelf stable. I also pressure can regular whole milk, something "they" say you can't do but, we've had absolutely no problems with it. I love the taste of homemade caned milk too, as it almost tastes like evaporated milk but, I know what's in it... Same with home pressure caned butter... The way I see it, is if you can buy caned milk and caned butter/ghee in the store, you can can it yourself too. Just make sure you do your research on how to do it and how long to pressure cook/can them and what altitude you are at, so you know what weight you need to use on your caner. "Legal disclaimer..." Do it at your own risk... 😁 Sorry for the novel... 🙃 and thank you for a wonderful and highly informational KZbin channel. ❤️

Hi ladies, we're on keto in our household, too, and use Hoosier Farms' heavy cream powder (we love it!). They recommend (and we do, too after using) mixing the heavy cream powder with your sweetener & flavoring (we use monk fruit & powdered cinnamon) with about a tablespoon of cold water. It clots when mixed with hot water. It is super easy (I keep a small whisk like Mary's handy to blend, rinse after use & put in the drainer for easy access) and takes less than a minute to accomplish. The added benefit is that the whisking makes it a bit foamy, which I really enjoy.

This is just what I was looking for, you can find vanilla powder in Greek supermarkets and some Greek bakeries.

Funny! I just found this channel today. The best by date she reads at 24:00 for her milk powder is April 23, 2022. That’s today. Weird coincidence. I agree with other comments, she seems to know her subject and has a great natural speaking voice.

I have never found a powdered coffee creamer that I like, I love this one! I used hazelnut extract in the sugar and made a smaller batch and it's in the fridge, but honestly it won't last, I drink a lot of coffee. Once again, thank you Mary.

Whole dry milk powder is available at most grocery stores like Walmart, or any other with a Hispanic section in the international foods aisle. NIDO. They even carry a lactose reduced version. It's various versions of powdered milk marketed for kids of all ages in Mexico. It's is an instant powdered milk and reasonably priced. Since many rural homes in Mexico and Central America do not have electricity and refrigeration. This made for them. American grocers carry it for it's Hispanic customers. I noticed it and use it.

Wow, Ms. Mary, what an excellent video and as others have stated, perfect timing!!! With the pandemic, it's been harder to get to the store for "real" half-n-half and I do NOT purchase the chemical-laden powdered stuff. I will gather ingredients and make micro-batches in my second coffee grinder (not used for coffee, lol, but for projects just like this) to find the flavor combo that works for me. Many thanks and deep appreciation for your generous spirit and cheerful, thorough approach. 🙏🏼😊 🌸 💕

Hello Mary, I’m brand new from tonight, in Brisbane Australia! I’ve watched 3 of your videos, loved every one of them. Maybe things here are different to the USA, but I’ve always loved cooking, and being a celiac I do all my own anyway, due to many allergies and pancreas issues..but I’ve now discovered that you have a name for us people…TRADITIONAL cooking? Mine is extremely healthy too, but yes I have always made my own everything , including most of my bread. I also adore home made baked beans as I grew up in Chile, they were also a staple food when little…but they seems to have a “bad name “ here in Australia..I still make them often! Cheers, a happy 67 year old!

As I watch, I'm remembering that the first video of yours that I watched was the pantry-stable hot chocolate mix. I needed dairy free, so I subbed in coconut milk powder. It worked out so well that I can't keep it around!

I found an organic coconut cream powder that is yummy. I found a recipe to add to my coffee, which helps with belly fat. Coconut oil, cinnamon, honey...it is actually quite good and helps flatten my belly.

Hi Sweet Mary - just found your channel, thank you for explaining that I am not a hoarder :) I am prepared. I just went and scratched off 'instant creamer' from my monthly grocery list and added Sucanat. You are wonderful for sharing with us, stay safe and happy!

Thank you so much for simplifying gradually changing over from processed foods to whole foods! I've been trying to move us toward that for a few years, but it seems so overwhelming sometimes. I have 4 autoimmune disorders and was doing a better job moving us along these lines before the coronavirus. My husband does literally all our shopping so I can stay away from possible exposure more than necessary, and we've been moving back toward processed foods as a result. Bless him, he tries to make things easier on me, and I'm trying to cook healthful foods with what we have. Anyway, he is in agreement with less processed foods, it's just easier for him to find those since I was the one shopping before the pandemic for foods that support the healthful way of eating. I'm going to watch more of your videos that I've missed and pick up the baton the best I can. Thank you again.

Oh, I hope this is tasty... cannot wait to try it. I love half and half in my coffee. I have a nondairy creamer that I purchased in storage, now, but you are right... the ingredients are offputting. I keep canned milk in long term storage in case I run out of half and half.
@MarysNest4 жыл бұрын
Hi Joanie, Yes, this is very tasty - even the simple non-fat version. I am very pleased with it. Hope you enjoy it too! Love, Mary

Yes, I keep a few cans, too. Also, I've used my stored powdered milk. However, I sure don't care much for coffee lacking the real cream.
