My favorite move in Masquerade is to put the cards I’m swapping under the table and then completely and utterly shuffle them, and then I hand them back out. Now I have no idea what I’ve placed (which is fine bc I don’t have a good enough memory to remember everyone anyway) and you don’t either. It’s fun. To me.

Yeah my parents struggled with coup, too many mind games and confusion with the characters and how the game generally worked.

This is totally the kind of game where I see the math geek of the group going "So this player has these odds for the following roles" Breaking down every scenario. Actually, that would be kinda neat game for groups where everyone is like this. And everyone meta games around that fact, but making mistakes.

Sir the ability of the Cheat confuses me in the rule book says- "Wins the game if they have 10 or more gold coins" - which means I must have first 10 coins or more to activate and start announcing my character and If I'm correct, automatically wins the game? Can I start with less than 10 coins before announcing the character ( Cheat)? Can I also challenge who announces that they are the Cheat if I only have less than 10 coins? My outcome is if I challenge and I'm correct but only less than 10 coins will I pay to the courthouse?
@alixx_legenddark_xx28193 ай бұрын
Why would you activate cheat if you have less than ten coins? If you have more, then obviously you can, and ppl can simply challenge you just so that you lose. Yes, they claim to have it, but if you don’t, then they lose 1 gold and so do you. Sure, it’s not good, but it’s better than losing

ok but on that joke, I gotta say: social deduction game, but rather than taking roles like "king" and stuff, it's each players name like you did in that skit. And just watch chaos ensue.

It would be great if there was a way to tell without opening the video, clicking the show more, and scrolling down to check. Better? Also, a way that was more obvious to someone who's just casually looking and not buried at the very bottom of the description. You could accuse me of being unobservant I suppose, but the whole reason I would like more clarity is that it's not very clear at a casual glance.

no. they hate kickstarters, generally.
@shutupandsitdown6 жыл бұрын
I don't think that's true. We loved Two Rooms and a Boom, Conan, Vinhos, Gloomhaven, Kingdom Death: Monster, and Monikers to name a few. What we don't find particularly helpful for our audience is reviewing Kickstarter games right after they ship to backers. If you already backed it you don't really need to know what we think of it, you've already bought it. And if it's not available in shops then we'll just make a lot of people who can't get their hands on it unhappy. In that vein, there's a review of Battle for Rokugan going up on our website today that you might want to check out - in stock and a third the price.
@jamez629826 жыл бұрын
Shut Up & Sit Down Still the retail version of the game is out in a month, so I guess a lot of people would want to know your opinion on it... Or maybe some people are on the fence of buying from backers the kickstarter version.

Great personality man, you presented with passion and experience. Seems like a very interesting game! How about the 2 players version? I'm usually just playing with my girlfriend. Is the game any good in 2?
@metallsnubben Жыл бұрын
I haven't played it (2-player that is) but it actually sounds really cool, you get 3 cards each but when it's your turn and you use an ability you need to say which specific card you claim is that role. (3-player is the same but with 2 cards each) Another thing that's unique to 2-player is one of your cards is "protected": your opponent can't swap it, but you also can't "use it" - as in claim "this card is the X" (but you can still claim that character's ability with one of your other cards... as long as it's not challenged of course. not at all confusing). You're also allowed to challenge your opponent's claim with it, you just can't "use it on your own turn" apart from swapping. I can see why the rulebook puts disclaimers that says 3-player is "for experienced players" and 2-player is "for even more experienced players". If you jump into that as your first time playing it will definitely be extremely chaotic, but it might be fun chaos. I like the idea of an extreme bluffing duel where you might be sitting with 3 cards in front of you and not know what any of them are - or maybe you even know _what_ they are but not which is were
