Rocky used to push my son then three years old around the parking lot at Ralph’s in Glendora while I shopped. What a friendly young man he was. In later years my younger son spent time at Camp Bloomfield a camp for the visually impaired with Rocky. It was great to see Rocky again, he passed away soon after. We were blessed to know him.

LOVE this movie! When it came out, my brother was a co-manager in a movie theater, so I got to get in free----saw many movies back then, and since I didn't have to pay, I saw this one in the theater at least three times! Great each time. The thing about the soundtrack is that Peter Bogdanovich (spelling?) wanted Bruce Springsteen to be the main artist, and The Boss was fine with it, but for some reason the studio wasn't. So that's why you hear more Bob Seger in it. Bob is great as well and I like the tunes used by him, but I'm interested in which ones by Bruce they would've used. Love "Ripple" by The Grateful Dead, and it fits perfectly at the end. Glad you showed a real pic of Rocky Dennis and told about how his body was donated to UCLA....I never knew that! Thanks again for another stellar post! Give Jah a pet for me!

Friday evenings are usually the best day to go to Monrovia. That is when their farmer's market is. :) The real Rocky lived in Azusa and Glendora. You mentioned in a previous recent video that LA does not have much of a community feel. But the cities in this area often have closer-knit communities. In my neighborhood, we have neighborhood events to make sure that neighbors spend more time with each other. So not all of LA is like that. Wow, they have really let that cemetery decline. I wonder what is going on there?

Cher and Peter Bogdonovitch fought each other tooth and nail throughout the filming...she wanted to wear a wig for the role and he refused to allow her to do so, insisting that everyone would know she was wearing a wig. So she went and had her hair bleached and dyed red to satisfy his demands. Her hair was fried by this and broke off ...so she wore the wig instead and he never figured it out. He also threatened to cut her out of the film saying it was all about the boy and her part was expendable.....they have a history as he was a writer for LOOK magazine in the 1960's and interviewed Sonny and CHER at the height of their rise to fame. The studio didn't wanna pay for Bruce Springsteen's music to be in the soundtrack as he was so famous and popular at that time...instead they put a lot of Bob Seeger music in the film...the directors cut fixes that and many other things. This whole movie and CHER not even being nominated for her performance is what prompted her to wear that infamous all black outfit to present on the Oscar telecast that year...."As you can see I did receive my booklet from the academy on how to dress like a serious actress" ....and it is still printed every year in papers across the world at the time of the Oscars.

I have watched mask at least once a year since I was a teenager and the scene where Rocky is dead and she realizes it makes me cry every single time..Meryl Streep is very hyped and I think she is a good acteess but Cher is just as good in my opinion. I have never watched cher in anything and fail...she hasn't been in as much movies as meryl so there is more of a marine for error for Meryl. I watched that movie Ricky and the flash the other day and I thought she was awful in it...for such an acclaimed acteess I should buy her performance in anything and she just didn't come across as believable in anyway to me as a rock star, she sang a song in iti think called cold one and it was suppose to be a cool song and I just thought it was awful...just my opinion though. Cher would have probably rocked that role and Benn believable as a washed up ex rock star who sold her family out for a chance to rock.
