Hi there Crafty Friends! I'm so sorry, but I forgot to give you the curing time on the UV resin. UV Resin needs to cure at least 1 minute. Please cure your beads for 1 to 2 minutes.

I've been making them for years now. I call them beads of hope. Before I cut the paper up I write positive words all over the back of the paper ❤ I also use a clear coat of UV gel clear nail polish so they last forever. I sold around 100 bracelets last year for donation to a women's and children's shelter here in my town. Thank you for posting this video! Using recycled paper is fun...like ad slicks junk mail 😊

Hi there! I LOVE that, "beads of hope" I absolutely love the positive words on the back. What a very cool idea. The UV gel polish is pretty much the same as the UV resin. I've used that too. Works great! Thank you so much. I’m so happy to see that you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖

Back in the sixties my mum taught us kids how to do this. Not with fancy Amazon tools and fancy paper but with matchsticks and strips cut from magazines.

My grandma didn't need any "newfangled" gadgets to make her paper beads either back in the 70s. The local home decor shop gave her whatever old wallpaper sample books, partial rolls, discontinued patterns, or misprint stock she could use that they couldn't sell off and she'd roll the beads on toothpicks or darning needles. I still have about a hundred of Grandma's wallpaper beads that still look good roughly 50 years after they were made. 😊

Second I wanted to thank you for this video because I have been waiting for cooler weather in order to start some cement projects and have been cursing the sun. Hi I am in South Africa. I make key rings out of resin and I am finding it hard to get beautiful beads to finish them off. As crafters we tend to make do because we ARE creative. BUT, I would like to strongly suggest to invest in the proper tools because you are WORTH it! You don’t have to spend a fortune. Just buy a piece at a time. The proper tools make SUCH a difference in your crafting experience. Treat yourself once in a while.

I never thought of decopauge on the beads; I can't wait to try that; I've got some beautiful napkins to use. Great tutorial! I've been making paper & clay beads for quite awhile but I learned some new things from you; thank you! I use stick glue; I find it less messy and it dries fast. Instead of resin; I use a granular substance (I can't remember the name at the moment - that drawer in my brain must be stuck lol) that when you apply heat it makes a beautiful thick clear coat. Thick Embossing powder! Got that drawer open! There's something satisfying about melting the powder to a liquid that hardens to a resin type substance very relaxing! Anyway thank you so much for your video!!

Hello from Normal, IL! Question: How do you keep the inside of the bead from getting too much glue inside when inserting a grommet? I'm trying to figure out the easiest method to use with seniors!
@masoncreationsetc
@masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Hi Keela I just put a little glue around the inside edge of the bead before adding the eyelet. I would say the easiest way would be using a bead roller, then you wouldn't need to insert the eyelet because the hole is small. If you are teaching a class and there a a lot in the class and you don't want to provide that many bead rollers, then the next easiest would be using a small cotter pin.. The small one doesn't leave a large hole so you wouldn't need to add the eyelets. It has a slit in it which makes it really easy to roll. They're pretty cheap, so you'd be able to buy a bunch of them. The next easiest would be a stir stick. The stir stick is plastic and you can just snip off the ends and leave the rest inside the bead. It's pretty easy since you tape the end of the paper to the stir stick. That makes it roll pretty easily. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always here for you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to send me a message from Illinois 💖😊

I have been making paper beads for over 50 years & use gift wrapping paper because it is so cheap from dollar stores. Hi from Italy. I' m a teacher and i did paper beads with my pupils using wallpaper samples cuttings. Every one did a necklace for mother's day we used toothpicks to roll the paper, vinilic glue and decoupage varnish for finishing them. Love

Loved this tutorial. The UV resin makes a huge difference! Do you have a tutorial explaining the use of a water brush for the napkin decoupage? Ive never heard if this technique before and I'd love to learn more.

Hi There! Yes, the UV resin makes all the difference in the world. I'm leaving you a link below for a video on different types of decoupage methods. I show you how to use the water brush in the tutorial. The water brush is filled with water and is just like a paint brush. In fact, if you don't have a water brush, you can use a paintbrush and some water to achieve the same thing. You make a line on the paper where you want to tear it with the water and then you can easily tear the paper or napkin. If you have any questions, let me know. I'm here for you. Hello from So. Texas. Love this bead tutorial. I first saw beads like this in Wimberley, TX yrs ago, which were made by women in Africa. I was so taken by how unique they were & loved where the money for my bracelet was going to help these ladies, too. The bracelet string broke, but I still have the beads & plan to restring them. Now, I can make some beads of my own, as well.

I’m absolutely hooked! Just ordered the roller and a paper cutter. I’m already a jewelry maker, wire wrapping and beading but these techniques open so many creative doors. I do have a question about “eyelets.” I’m guessing that the roller and the eyelet size must match? Thanks for this!!
@masoncreationsetc
@masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Hi Linda I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed this video! I absolutely love making these beads. They always turn out so pretty, and never look like paper at all. Yes, the hole in the center of the bead needs to be the same size as the eyelet. Cotter pins come in different sizes. You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes. Actually Amazon has them as well. They have a slit so they work really well for rolling beads. The eyelet will tell you the size, then get the same size cotter pin. I'm going to be using some of these beads in the next video I'm uploading. I'll be focusing on paper flowers, but there will be some beads as well. If you subscribed, it should show up in your feed. I'd love to see some of the jewelry that you've made. I have several followers that email me pictures of what they make. I love it so much! Have a great day! @masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Hi Lynn, I keep a towel nearby as well. I can't stand sticky fingers 🤣and I understand about curious minds! So glad you enjoyed this video. I'm eventually going to make a follow up video using some other things to make the beads. Yes, I've been hearing a lot of people say they've made them out of magazines and wrapping paper. I would think book pages and newspaper would work as well. Fabric, I haven't tested out yet, but here is what I would do. I would cut out a section of the fabric and cover it with mod podge or it will fray when you cut it. After the mod podge dries, then cut it into your triangles and roll it. I haven't tried it yet, so if you do it, please let me know how it worked out. It's one of the methods I'm planning for the new video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖
