+Agent Camtho Agreed. Although for me The Witcher 3 is a very close second, ME 2 had a larger variety of playstyles, some of the best written characters in any game I've ever played, managed to blend the best aspects of action and roll playing in a way that didn't feel like either was really suffering, dived deeper into the lore of its universe in some very interesting ways, and of course the pure thrill of the suicide mission.

As infuriating as the Mako can be to drive, especially in a first playthrough, I guess I don't hate it that much. To me its lack of maneouvrability is part of the immersion, somewhat: it's a military space vehicle, and it looks like it's been concieved with practicality in mind. It's sturdy, and built to function on planets with very different soils, relief and climatic conditions. You wouldn't expect it to control like a sleek urban car.

I've never played this series until recently. Then I played ME1 and found it packed with content, dedicated voice acting, excellent writing and interactive scripting. ME2 is all that and so much more. These things noticeably absent in modern games. Not to mention volume. Some games you play for 3 hours and you are done. ME2 is like 30 times that. I found the combat adequately challenging on 'Normal'...with multiple facets and combinations needed to succeed. This game is the Holy Grail of storytelling, interaction and function. I picked it up on Steam for $24 . Seriously. I feel like I should send Bioware the difference for a full price game out of guilt.
@newflesh6663 жыл бұрын
ME2 is, imo, the best of the trilogy. While it's not perfect, pretty much everything works exceptionally well. it massively improves on a lot of flaws of ME1 and the story is excellently written and paced. ME3 further improves on gameplay, but the story isn't as good as ME2, the "live service" galaxy at war system is kinda tedious, and the ending is underwhelming at best (the citadel DLC is absolutely perfect though)

Yeah. That always happens when you complete both their loyalty missions. When it happens you have a few options. If your Paragon/Renegade scores aren't high enough, you have to take a side. Whoever's side you don't take will be angry and lose their loyalty. If either Paragon/Renegade is high enough, you can resolve the matter without losing either Jack or Miranda's loyalty. @VitalSigns128810 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I prefer the planet scanning. There is no was to beat the thresher maw that always spawns and what you end up with is going down to the planet, dying several times, then giving up with no reward. but Yahtzee doesn't do justice to just how bad the tank thing was, not only were you on a bounce castle, it also controlled like ass as well. Instead of controlling the car relative to the wheels like every other game ever made ever, you controlled the direction the car was facing relative to the field of view, so if you want to turn the gun to the right, in order to do a strafing run you would have to push the control stick to the left, which made driving a pain. The controls where you take cover were also ass, you walk up to a wall then after walking directly into the wall for a few seconds Shepard finally glues himself to the wall. So, you end up in a scenario where if you wish to take cover it is rather difficult and if you simply want to move along the wall you'll end up with many frustrating deaths as Shepard sticks to the wall instead of just moving it. I'm glad they fixed this in ME2 where you press a button to take cover and if you didn't press it you can run around without having to worry about getting too close to the wall. Then at ME3 you have one of the best control schemes where you can sprint to the wall, then do a summer salt into said wall and stick to it ready to have a go at the shooting gallery. All the while they made the powers work much more intuitively, as you're able to move, shoot, and throw powers all smoothly, making insanity mode a possibility.

In hindsight, it's creepy how spot-on this guy was about his reviews. The planet scanning _was_ a good attempt by the makers to further immerse you in the whole space exploration thing but it got REALLY annoying after the first few systems. Fortunately back then, developers actually _listened_ to players or took the beta testers seriously instead of a worshiping a bottom line financial projection. And in the 3 installment of the game they FRICKKIN' nailed that aspect of the game to (you guessed) the FRICKKIN' WALL!!

The way I see it, the ammo system actually allows greater sustained fire. In ME1 you could fire all you want until your weapon overheated, and then your weapon was useless for several seconds while it cooled down. Using the thermal clips, once the clip had absorbed as much heat as it could take (ammo down to 0 ), you just switch out the clip. Small time difference, but it was easier to plan for, and you could reload outside of battle, lowering the chance that you'd be left defenceless.

lol, I never really thought about it that much but he had a great point there when he said you have an entire galaxy to explore, but every planet you can go down to only allows you to to walk on square mile of terrain, and usually only once...

While I recognize there are a number of things which this game did excellently, and at times I was enjoying it immensely, I also found some of the flaws royally pissed me off. Until I came here I could not find anyone who even offhandedly mentioned them, so thank you b/c this was the cathartic experience I needed. Though I must say one thing was missed, and that is the overall amount of the game that you can simply lose access too, if you don't constantly/obsessively scroll through a guide whilst playing. There is a finite amount of exp, money, morality points, and a gigantic list of things that are only accessible, and are easy to miss, during a particular quest. Not to mention the fact that your morality meters mean nothing, because you're rated on how many points you could have scored, based on which areas you have explored, thus diluting your actual score every time you go anywhere new. The worst is that these are easily resolvable, completely unnecessary flaws, which ruin something that is otherwise great.

If there are no jetpacks in Mass Effect 3, then BioWare loses all their brownie points.

The one exception I can think of being Dragon Age II, and how beloved that game was.

Also vehicle segments were cut off in this game, because bioware discovered dlc, and put all of it in there.
