9:15 Yep, if you dig into the Rannoch files, there is strong suggestion that Legion was supposed to join and be present when you wake up the Reaper (rather than just talking over radio). You're totally right there. Rannoch also borrows some dialogue lines from Priority: Earth for EDI, indicating that the two missions were worked on in a similar development period. Cutting Legion as a squadmate on Rannoch, along the other characters in London, possibly indicates that this was the point when Bioware realized that adding new characters in combat is not an option... for whatever reason. Just wait until you find out about the original Reaper Chase (where you're shooting with the turret) on Rannoch. Now that is an interesting rabbit hole. 10:28 This cannot be emphasized enough. People have a REAL tendendy to get hung up on ideas like the Dark Energy plot or whatever the "original" endings for ME3 were (fun fact: it was always the Catalyst and the 3 choices, the only thing that kept changing was the writing of the scene). Guys, just because the idea sounds good on paper, does not mean it would be good in reality. The devs aren't stupid, and if something was cut (unless it was due to production issues) chances are it was the right call.

I do still wish the game was given more time it’s my favorite story wise n felt it could have been even better especially the jack romance

any chance that boss fight can be fixed - Rannoch reaper boss Dark Energy plot still a lot more interesting than Sky Net now pick a color

One of the things I wish had been done with The Citadel DLC would have been the inclusion of surviving ME2 romantic partners showing up instead of Liara when Shepard finally gets help. I suspect that this may have gotten axed because the possible candidates for FemShep were either killed earlier in the game (Thane) or moved on (Jacob). Still, it would have been nice to have either Jack or Miranda show up there and stick around for the rest of the DLC. Hell, Jacob showing up there and sticking around might have been a great opportunity to explore that storyline a little better with a better resolution than we got in the main game.

That would be a really interesting possibility. I think that besides the reasons you mention (along with scheduling issues), that wasn't included because the first half of Citadel is sort of a "getting the band back together" episode for the first Normandy, with Wrex rejoining the squad and all. It would definitely be cool to see ME2 characters there too, though.

Miranda not being available after Horizon is the biggest sin and makes ZERO sense. Especially if you romanced her

Based on what I've seen, I think Miranda's limited appearance in ME3 was primarily a matter of scheduling. The rise and professionalization of videogame voice acting is a good thing, but it has tradeoffs. It can mean that you have fewer characters or lines of dialogue. It can mean that you need to prioritize your budget or dev time. It can even mean that you have a familiar voice in one game that needs to be recast in the next for whatever reason. In *this* case, when actors have other obligations, you have to find ways around that. Not ideal, of course, but that is probably the reason.

True, that one was one of the worst😡. Have you tryed the (LE updated) Miranda Mod yet? Cos, among other gteat mods, that is just awesome, but also shows in how half cocked state ME3 was released🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️😡👍

@@BartlebysCorpse But that was the "official" saying about not having Miranda/Yvonne more present in ME3. I remember watched some vid back in the day (seems it was taken down since) in which YS was interviewed about ME3 and she said she didn't knows too much about her character and that she wasn't interested in" "videoganes" way too much...what I notice was she seemed down or even somewhat angry because how her character was handled in ME3, with a reason and more so because her character big role in ME2 and Miranda just being the postergirl for one of the so called best VGs ever made🤷‍♂️😒

@@BartlebysCorpse Well understand Bioware actually did Focus Testing and Liara always came out on top of the "Big 3" for Male Shep. So they assumed you would pick her. I do know they didn't have the time to put Miranda on your ship. I thought her joining the crew would have been a far better ride. Can you imaging the tension on board with Liara and or Ash if you romanced them in ME1?

They asked EA for more time, they needed 6 more months to finish the content you're talking about and the ending hadn't been written yet. Consensus was that this is when the final earth battle which was supposed to resemble the suicide mission was scrapped and watered down because EA management told them they had 3 months and the game was coming out. They took the next month off and Casey came up with the ending while spending time with his family (allegedly he was flying a plane with his son) Mac Walters wrote it and the rest is history. Samaras mission was never finished its actually the non loyal version by default in the beginning and the loyal version in the monastery itself which is why Shep acts like they don't know what an Ardat Yakshi is and then tells Samara "You met me hunting your other Ardat Yakshi daughter." As good as it is we still didn't get the best version of the game which is the one you're describing + Javik as a scientist sacrificing himself to stop the cycle instead of Shepard. Thanks! I had written up and recorded a segment laying out some of my opinions on this front, but scrapped it because it seemed like it would break the flow, but I'm of two minds here. On one hand, I do think think that ME3 is objectively a very good game, even underrated to an extent. It's a solid entry in the franchise, and even surpasses its predecessors on some in some ways. On the other hand, I do agree with some common criticisms of it. I don't think anyone could seriously dispute that it would benefit from more development time to smooth out some rough edges. The galactic alliance mechanics called for something extra for the final battle. And as you can guess from this videos premise, the previous two games called for *some* kind of gameplay role for past squadmates. A lot of this discussion could go on for a long time, which is why I cut the above-mentioned segment from this vid 😜
