I have seen a lot of comments asking about historic moments that were both in the video, and ones that aren't. the reason for some big moments like the World Wars not being mentioned, alongside other big events like that, are that nothing in mass effect that was significant was mentioned at this time. while other moments that might not be as big, like Jonestown suicides and Woodstock and such are in because those happened around some big moments in mass effect. the videos main purpose was to compare events in mass effect to events in our timeline to show a perspective of the two different histories. I hope this clears up some confusion and I thank you all for watching our videos and subscribing as well
@MassEffectFollowers8 жыл бұрын
amvhate What I am doing in this video is comparing the time in which events in our history take place compared to the timelines when events happened in Mass Effect. I am not meaning that some events aren't worth noting, but the point of the video is to point out what was happening on Earth, while events were taking place in Mass Effect
@Asguard828 жыл бұрын
I found it a bit jarring that you mentioned the rise of Hitler but not WW1&WW2, actually it was the "Hitler rises to top of NAZI party" that made me think "hang on your missing WW1" and then also notice even more no WW2. Also nothing on history of Australia in either video (I don't think) such as Aboriginals arriving in Australia
@MassEffectFollowers8 жыл бұрын
I do believe I mentioned some point in either this video, or the previous one about people arriving at New Zealand, and then may not have added the Australia part due to that taking place during a time when nothing of significance was happening in Mass Effect.

I love how while the Roman Empire is still a Republic, the Council meets all these races and humanity doesn't make contact for another 2400 years and STILL gets on the council before the Volus, Quarian and Elcor lmao! Also that Humanity was still in it's space faring infancy and had them all scared like "Who the hell are these guys!?"
@AG264983 жыл бұрын
I think that is partly because those species dont really care about a seat on the council. The Volus already take care of the economy, the Elcor just dont care and quarians got exiled from their own planet. Only the Batarians really wanted a seat but because of their paranoid government the council did not trust them.

It wasn't that nothing significant happened, it is that nothing in Mass Effect happened around that time. If I had put in every key event throughout all of our history, this video would be almost triple in length. There were a few things that I cut from the script due to it not being close enough to an event in Mass Effect. As a fan of history, I do wish I could have added every key event and gone into detail about it, but the amount of time it would take to make that, as well as the length of the video in general, would be huge.

considering Mass Effect is sci-fi, a couple more science/space related factoids would be nice. 1609- Galileo Galilei begins using telescopes to explore the solar system and beyond. 1687- Isaac Newton publishes Principia which decribes Orbital Mechanics. 1914- Robert Goddard develops the multistage rocket. 1957- Sputnik enters orbits 1961- Yuri Gagarin (USSR) & Alan Shepard (USA): the first humans in spaceflight. (ps how is this not in ur timeline?! It's Shepard for godsake!) 1969- Apollo11 take humans to the moon and back 1981- Space Shuttle successfully enters orbit and lands 1990- Hubble Telescope launched into orbit 1998- International Space Station is built 2012- Voyage1 enters Interstellar Space more at: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_space_exploration

Here's a challenge for you. How would the ME universe as we know it, look, had the Protheans failed to tamper with the keepers. There's been debate about just how desperate Sovereign was getting. But let's say the keepers acted according to plan. Just how long had Sovereign been trying to reach it's fleet? Well... The Queen Rachni on Noveria tells you. The Rachni song was tainted with sour yellow and brown notes. While we were establishing our own written history, the Reapers would have been wiping out the rest of the galaxy. Really gives an interesting yet sad perspective on our history, that majority of the time there have only been wars and violence, any alien studying us would define us by our history. I like games like Mass Effect that build large and detailed worlds, with history and cultures. Bioware seem to do a great job at that, like with Dragon Age too. Its a shame some of the greatest events wasn't mention but I can see that its not relevant to the video. Although a part 3 would be interesting, not impossible but it'll be difficult to create.
