It's so strange to me how it is not yet meta for Terran to just make a singular raven against Zerg, purely for the detection. Instead, they choose to use 20-50 scans on killing creep tumours.

because in a scan u are using just energy, if not, You are using mules. But ravens cost gas and is a caster unit. You can use that tine building other units. So, You spend 550 minerals. And a mule is a svc but x10. This is pretty much Smart decision in my opinion

Its largely cause of how effective zerg is at sniping individual units. Especially with vipers. The widow where a raven could be useful is small, and you need a tech lab on a starport for it.

You have to babysit the Raven, and the Zerg is constantly going to be looking for opportunities to snipe it or abduct it with Vipers. 21:45 Terran is always going to be building Orbitals though, so scans are always going to be a thing, and should generally always be available late game.

I often had the same thought, despite all this clear arguments and pros who defiantly know the correct approach compared to me who only watches the game I still find myself saying why don’t you just build one raven and clear all the creep!

@@ara4352 well buddy, u can scan, wich is a macro decision or You can do what you Say wich is a micro solution. Build a raven is good, but You can also do teck and build medic instead. Your zerg opoonent in early is full of Queens, and later they can abduct. So, zerg players can always focus units. Maybe later, if they decide to go for lurker, raven detection can be more usefull. Bur if your economy sucks, always is better s Raven buddy. In GM people actually do what you Say, is just this Match both of players have skilled micro, so is pretty exhausting to babysit a raven.

Star ports are too strong with bio and inexplicably too weak with bio. I’m not sure why, but with a bio build the star ports easily pump out dozens of Vikings while still producing enough medivacs to give the entire ground army flight, usually also end up with liberators as well, which are extremely deadly with minimal upgrades. With mech, however, there doesn’t seem to be nearly enough air units to cover the army from viper/infestors

It's a gas thing, and also a unit preservation thing. Mech units, they are gas hungry. Cyclones, tanks, thors, battlecruisers, they cost hundreds of gas to pump out, as do the factories you need to build them. And vikings, medivacs, liberators, they also cost a fair chunk of gas. You just don't have enough for it both. Bio? 2 tech labs and like 100 gas a minute for marauders is all your spending on. The rest can be sunk into single factory tanks and then mass starport production. Then unit preservation comes into play. When your fighting with bio, you're losing marines, occasional marauder, drops get cleaned up entirely, stuff dies But not medivacs (usually). Aside from queens, zerg just doesn't have anti air in most anti bio comps, and medivacs with boost can almost always get away from what they do have. So when you first start your bio builds, you mostly send out forces which all fit in medivacs because the builds are mapped out to have 16 supply of marines when your first 2 medivacs pop amd stuff like that. Then 8 of the marines die and you can build 24 befeore the next 2 pop. Then you build 28 and then 4 that don't fit in medivacs either stay home or get left behind to die when the rest of the army is picked up. Then you have 8 medivacs alive, and start producing vikings and/or liberators, which fill up so much supply you don't have enough avaliable to produce more bio than 8 medivacs can hold. So yeah, not neccessarily overpowered, just a quirk of how the build works.

For Pro Terrans I don’t think Turtle Mech is a good strat, Terran can harass the mineral lines with hellions/banshees/libs but that won’t stop Zerg from taking their half of the map.

i think a turtlemech with drops would be though. something where you dont have to look at your own base to defend that much and can focus on microing the drop

Not sure how you are supposed to have the time to target fire with tanks while microing marines at the same time. And if you target fire with thors, if some are not in range they will stop attacking entirely which isn’t good

@@alexandrel4569 Ironic to hear someone say that a spell caster counters ghosts. lol. Any spell caster. Any single ghost can take down 100 infestors..... Ghosts are THE counter to spell caster type units. Emp is an aoe grenade that murders infestors, and make them useless. "Reynor got lucky. It happens. 30 minutes of the biggest rofl stomp ive ever seen, and still it took luck to actually win.

@@Tribuneoftheplebs I just watched a high level Broodwar game where a Protoss was sending single Zealots from the moment he could, to their death mostly. Yet it was a strategic decision that gave him an advantage later on in the game. 4 worker start and way earlier action, hows that possible? Because the explosive economy and big maps of SC2 make plays impossible that aren't all-ins, if you send out anything between a scout and an all-in that intends to fight, by the time it arrives the enemy has 3x the amount of units, you just lose yours and you gonna be economically behind or susceptible to all-ins yourself.
