I used a shotgun the very first time I had to defend me and my mother from 4 ex-cons who tried to do a home invasion. In retrospect, I’d use an AR instead of a shotgun for multiple threats. Faster follow up shots and more ammo capacity. I would never comply with any magazine limit. In places like L.A. County criminals are literally favored and considered victims of society. I saw a video several years ago where popular calibers and guns were tested inside an empty home. The AR’s .223 penetrated the least, even less than a 9mm.

If a police officer shoots someone who is in their own home answering their door, even if they are holding a rifle, something is very wrong with our policy tactics.
@BrianSmith-kv3px2 жыл бұрын
Sadly, it happens all the time. Phoenix is littered with them the last few years. In most jurisdictions it is considered a justifiable shooting due to the perceived risk to the officer's life. Answering the door with a weapon in hand is by definition a 'furtive gesture'. :-/

@@cbbees1468 I am not sure any cops stood down voluntarily. From what I heard, most only did when ordered to by a corrupt mayor or police chief.

You are a legend sir and I think you. I watch your videos from the 80s and have presented it to my less experienced friends/ family to start. Your a great man and thank you for what you have done for the firearm community and the community at whole. If people like you didn’t exist then the world would be a worse place. Praying for you and your family and stay dangerous! I’m 29 y o and I just have to thank you. I finally have my Father carrying everyday and working closely with my mother. Your videos are great to dispel any myths that we are out for blood, but your reasonableness shows through “the scary 22 on steroids” and relates to the layman. Your brilliant and a legend and just wanted to say thank you. Austin from Kentucky

I have been shooting guns, since I was 16 years old. My father taught me how to handle them safely with a Winchester Semi-Auto .22 rifle. Bought my fist pistol in my 30's. I have had training and also have a CPL, that I will be renewing soon. I have never heard a more concise explanation and justification for the selection of the AR-15, with the standard 30 round mag, for home defense. Your answer to it's use was so on point. The right answer to the group who wants to take ours away and leave them in the wrong hands instead, the people who follow no laws. Thank you Massad Ayoob!

Yup. You can always start the clock on a suppressor and in the meantime keep some electronic earmuffs handy and hope you have time to put them on.

SPOT ON!!! This is why I have my AR15 accessible for everyone in the house that is authorized to use it. Now to get my wife out to the range and get familiar with my zero. I actually have .223 soft lead tip rounds, and in a 40 round magazine, I am definitely set up for multiple home invaders. I like to throw out with the use of a doorbell camera and replacing the two 1/2 in screws in my deadbolt flash with 3 in screws act as a deterrent and with layers of deterrents like that leaves less doubt that the people invading really want to get into my home to do harm.

Thanks Mas! I always wondered about over penetration with my AR as my home defense rifle. I keep 60 rds onboard set up with a red dot sight and light. Now I'm positive I made the right choice vs my 12ga pump.

What about the sound pressure generated by the 556 round when shooting inside the residence as compared to a pistol round? Can this increased pressure essentially flash bang yourself into not being able to respond appropriately after the first round?
