It's terrible advice. Infantilizing to your partner. Listening to venting and indulging minor irrationalities is one thing, but this is about Cuddy not trusting House to be faithful to her. That's a serious problem. This is Wilson demonstrating his compulsive need to be, and be seen to be, the caregiver in all his relationships. He treats his partners like children, and children he constantly indulges, at that. In fact, he treat his partners like he treats his cancer patients, and that's not healthy. Partners are supposed to be partners, and the doctor/patient relationship very much has most of the power on one side.

You know, assuming he’s telling the truth about the hooker being the best massage therapist he could find, he has a point. Anyone with a serious chronic medical condition can tell you, when you find a good physical therapist or specialist, you don’t give them up unless you have to. Would Cuddy still have a problem if she were a professional masseuse or physical therapist that used to have a relationship with House?
@theatog3 жыл бұрын
Want to chime in on this. I have had many massages from both therapists and from Channel Similar to House's. I never understood why most professional therapist rarely left me satisfied (and I'm not talking about "happy ending"). Don't get me wrong, I have had plenty horrible massages from "CStH" too. Until one time this other guy explained to me... Massage takes some energy and effort. If you know how to do it, it will be easier but still take a toll no matter how good you are. RMT's usually have clients right before or after you so they can't really go "all-in" on you. They are there to do their job, not to please you. Most RMT i know, no matter how horrible they are, never stop getting clients. Where as CStH don't usually go through clients like a conveyor belt. If they know what they are doing, they can really invest great deal of energy and effort. And their goal is to please. And if you are a good customer, they would like you to come back. That's the difference. One is a care-giver (think nanny?) and the other is a service.

@@itsmealaska9089 It's a question with a double meaning, and a little underhanded. His main goal of asking the question was that he wants advice on Cuddy. I think it's more of an artistic affectation, and an extractor hood for the cooker. You can waste space when you're wealthy and your place is huge.

I don't get it. Why is Cuddy uncomfortable with this situation? House was honest about the whole thing. If he lied and Cuddy found out afterwards, I would understand. There clearly wasn't any intimacy between House and the masseuse neither before nor after they started their relationship. Idk I've never been in a relationship and I turn into a wizard in 4 years.

Honestly, if you don't trust him, you don't trust him, at which point, all you're doing is trying to mold things into something you want, not loving the something you have. He could just as easily lie about seeing her, or anybody else for that matter -- hell, maybe he and the physical therapist start getting it on, and he dumps you for them. The thing that's so painful about relationships is the same thing we love about them. When you trust somebody, you leave yourself vulnerable to getting hurt, but if you *don't* do that, then you end up all shut-up inside. If you really love somebody, then you love them *for* the things they do, not in spite of them. Anything else is just your fear of being alone. Tl;dr, either let him keep seeing the hooker, or admit that you don't feel that intimate level of trust with him, because you don't *actually* have any real control over other people, and acting like you do doesn't seal the love, it just tosses the hope.

This rings so true, and personally why I could never make things work with my ex after she cheated on me. I wanted it more than anything, but the trust was gone. And I could never find all the pieces to put it back together again. Doubt filled the holes. And the shards tore us apart. Glad you wrote this post, you get a like from me.

Relationships that accept sacrifices are not healthy, and ALL of them eventually break up. House is 100% correct here. Cuddy's irrationality is the problem here.

TO be very fair to house. He was very transparent and honest about his hooker.

I'd get someone else to sooth my leg pain, but I would make it clear to my girlfriend that Im doing it only to keep her happy, not because she is right.

I find Cuddy suggesting House is unable to have a serious relationship to be silly. The man was married to their hospital's lawyer for 5 years. Does he enjoy being juvenile? Sure, but barring the incident that made House, and Stacy divorce, it had to be serious at one point to last that long.
