SUGGESTION: One can use Trigger Point's STK foam roller stick on your calves. A great, flexible roller stick for precise application of force into the muscle tissue. Place a folded towel on the floor. Sit on the edge of a bed or chair. With your toes rolled under, place the top of your foot on the towel. This will relax the gastrocnemius and solius muscles in the calf. Use the roller's various wheels of the roller stick to superficially or work deeper into the calf muscles. Works well on the quadriceps as well. Apply force into muscle tissue only during movements towards the heart. Good luck. Hope it helps.

@@danw2420 thank you!!! We have just had a city order to close down for 2 weeks. Hospitals are overflowing. Civic center being turned into a makeshift hospital now. Very sad indeed. I will continue to be careful! You too. 🤗❤️

I appreciate that Tammy! Difficult times for a lot of people especially massage therapist. I do my best to practice what I teach. A good teacher lives it first then teaches it. I’ve just gained weight since the pandemic because I’m not as active even though I walk every day! Not happy with that part lol.

Thank you for this video, it's really helpful. I use a foam roll on my entire body too. It really helps relieve the tension in my shoulders, upper back teres major, minor and neck too!

I may not always comment but I watch your videos and love them! I am a subscriber so I get notified when new ones are posted. Your videos really help me study even since I have graduated(July) and will take the MBLEX on Halloween!! I am interested in using any tools I can to help clients and myself and want to learn to use gua sha tools, and cupping. The little bit you did here for self care is great and now I am feeling energized for the day(currently 630am). Hi Maria, this demo shows a mixture of east and west techniques. First part is about overall Qi and blood circulation, not only muscles, tendons and meridian cared but also the internal organs attended. The second part is more specific, a therapist’s advantage to self-care---you can do massage on yourself, and go further with S bar help ( effleurage /myofascial release the rhomboids, QL, Traps, Scapulas, Lats and so on). @@gilvirgthe3 I am glad you are safe Virginie, It is the same situation here! In Texas we have many many cases. 1,000 a day. Hospitals are full! Elderly Clients are afraid too and I don’t blame them. I am doing everything I can to keep myself safe. Take care of yourself and we will just practice self massage for now ❤️🤗

The gua sha tool is lovely and I've only used it on my face. I wish my therapist would use it more often because there was one time when my spine wouldn't release. After a few minutes with the tool the muscles just let go! I'll need to try it on my legs because this is the most painful part of my body when I get my massage. There's a lot of nerve damage on my right leg so it's like an ice block all the time which doesn't help. She can be barely touching me and they can be extremely painful especially the quads. I've tried so much myself to get my leg muscles looser but nothing seems to be working. I'm almost at the point where I'm ready to say to just do a light massage. I know she wants to get the muscles all loose but unless she wants to use the massage gun everytime, that's the only thing that has made a difference and I've relaxed properly, I'm running out of options. I've got a massage gun at home and it's great. She can't use her own because there's no way of disinfecting it between clients. Maybe I should bring my own with me..... 🤔 Thanks so much for the tips, I know my body will love the tai chi warm up x

This is an interesting comment. I wish I knew more of your medical history & situation. Sometimes less is more. Personally I think using the gun too often is too much stimulation for the muscles. Like I said I don’t know her reasons for doing so. Do you lift heavy weights? I’m glad you’re going to start working on yourself a bit. There’s other ways to relax the muscles without having to use the gun. We didn’t have mechanical stimulation 100 yrs ago. In my experience I have found that specific work on a muscle should not be painful. When it hurts You engage the nervous system & create patterns of pain so the muscles & body resist. Look into the physiological laws. Pflugers laws & Hiltons laws. This might help you. Best of wishes.

@@MassageTherapeutics915 thanks for the advice. I've got a lot of things wrong with my spine and had cauda equina 19 years ago and despite being told that my back would get better, it hasn't. I've got everything from spinal stenosis to ddd. I practice yoga and walk as much as I can but walking any significant distance is just not possible. I'm only 46 and really lucked out when it came to my spine. My massage therapist is great and I understand why she does what she does, she just wants me to be in as little pain as possible. My legs, quads in particular, have always been the worse but we do manage to find a middle ground where the muscle releases and it isn't too uncomfortable. Some times though it's a no go area. I will look at the research you suggested, again thank you very much, I really appreciate it

@@kirstymacfarlane1620 knowing more of your situation helps a lot. I’m sorry to hear you had Cauda Equina. Have you been able to strengthen your core muscles? Thank you for explaining your situation and what your massage therapist is doing. I’m happy to hear she’s helping you. Have you heard of the Barrow Institute. Maybe for weeks ive velt some pain on the left side of my body, my chest erea, ribs, neck, shoulder, under the armpit and arm. but only on the left side. After doing these so much tension was released i cant believe it. Im now going to do these every morning and before sleeping. I do them a bit longer and focus also on the back part and the ereas where i have pain. But thank you so soo much your a blessing. I probably use to much oil, is there any harm by using to much (exept for my wallet)? 🤣😇🥰😘☺

I’m sorry you’ve had pain! Have you been stressed or did you injure yourself? I’m happy to hear that this helps you. You can also do some massaging around the thymus were I was doing the thymus thumping. That’s where part of the origin of the Pectoralis Major is & you might have a lot of tension there. If the pain was to persist or get worse I recommend you call your dr. Otherwise I think doing self care is so important! I give myself full body massages! I like to use coconut oil too or even olive oil lol. Nothing bad happens if you use too much oil except be careful not to stain your clothes or sheets. You will get the hang of it if you continue to practice! I do hope you continue to incorporate the self care techniques. I can also recommend the Tai Chi videos they might help you relax & recharge a bit. Best of wishes for you 🙏🤗

@@MassageTherapeutics915 I'm 26 years old and work as a social worker so stress is always around the corner 🙈 But most likely I have a condition where my cartilage between my bones (chest erea) is inflamed. (Also knows as Tietze Syndrome) You are probably familiar with this condition. And there is no real cure for it, I don't really like to take meds so I resort to physical therapie. Sometimes a feel this sharp knife cut pain these are the worst but thankfully not always or everyday But you are so right! Taking care of ourselves starts within us! Your a real gem, thank you for reaching out and your kind words! I will incorporate these techniques as they do help me out. A friend of mine told me about the different meridians he knows more about it than I do. So I will look into that as the Thai videos you recommend. Best of wishes to you as well ❤

Linda I checked into it. I had a friend that lived there a couple of years ago however she’s moved to Dallas recently. You can search for a therapist that does neuromuscular techniques or medical techniques. I would call several places & even try them out if you can so you can compare. Sorry I couldn’t help you. Yes it is ok if there are no contraindications. Atheletes, rich actors and students get massages everyday! I would too if I could afford it or had someone nice like you to be willing
