Maybe the one way bearing was making noise and they figured it was the engine? How many miles were on it and did the Amazon parts hold up? Certainly gives me a little more confidence in my engine seeing this video. I’ve heard of lots of timing chain failures but I’m wondering if that has more to do with people running them low on oil?

Love the video. I have a question. Is coolant and oil supplied to the head through the external lines only, or does it travel up through the green base gasket. I have oil in my coolant but no coolant in the oil, so I'm hoping I can stop at the head gasket and not have to take the jug off. If no issues there I'm going to look at the water pump seal... maybe? Your thoughts?

Coolant just travels though the head & cylinder from the supply lines. It doesn't travel through the cases. But sometimes the water pump seals fail & can cause some of the same issues.

I have friend that dropped an Intake valve on his 700. Can the head be pulled while the engine is still in the chassis? Does the side cover have to be removed to deal with the timing chain when pulling the head?

Yes I think the 700 head can be pulled in the frame. I can't remember for sure. But as long as you're on TDC compression stroke & the cam timing marks are lined up you don't need to pull the side case to see the fly wheel timing marks

Those are for the decompression release built into the cam to help with starting your unit.
