Thanks for all your road tripping videos. I just got a 2023 ID.4 and after watching your videos had the courage to take a 3400 mile trip from CA to texas on the I-10. The 2023 has a slightly better charging curve so I would tend to overcharge by the time I got back to the car. Only one EA station had all chargers dead and I was alerted to it by PlugShare so I was able to deep charge and make it to the next working charger. I keep a 5 gallon bucket in the trunk with towels and window cleaner so that any spills will stay in the 5 gallon bucket 😊

Hi Stuart, do you have the option to report the status of chargers to EA using PlugShare!? It appears that EA has outsourced the maintenance of their charging stations to 3rd party companies and they just drive by and do not actually get out to TEST the chargers! If the lights are ON when they drive by, the Tech reports the chargers as "working"! Kyle at Out of Spec Reviews observed this phenomenon too!

I had the same issue going from Bloomington-Normal to Madison, WI 2 weeks ago. 20-30 mph NW wind. Did you see any Rivians at B-N? I don't think I've ever stopped there and not seen one. There were two R1Ts and a R1S there last time. Very cool! But that's a busy location most times, so you were lucky.

Great video...very informative... reserved my 2023 ID4, order locked...just curious, I read somewhere that you should try to minimize battery charge below 20%, is that not accurate? just wondering, new to EVs. Thanks
@EVMotoring Жыл бұрын
The battery is the happiest of its operated within a range ie drained to 40% and then charged to 60%. However, I did hundreds of DC charges and ran the battery to 0 a couple times over my 33K of ownership and experienced very minimal degradation. If you’re not planning on owning more than 100K, I would suggest using the car however you want and the battery should be fine.

@@EVMotoring you’re right, it’s my mistake! I went back and looked and you added 58kWh in 33 mins which is hella fast. Mustang Mach-E adds about 53kWh in the same amount of time. ID4 drinks in the most kW at a low SoC and the charge curve really encourages surfing the bottom % of the pack.

I've put 25,000 miles on mine with a few road trips thrown in and it hasn't been THAT bad. My issue is more to do with EA sucking than the ID. Not that i haven't had a few frustrating moments, but from what I can tell from friends and other KZbin videos, all EVs will frustrate you at some point. Cold weather and not enough fast chargers are the bane of EV life.
