Great video Gareth. One of your best. Re your leader/tippet failure; furl your own leaders out of Stroft Fluorocarbon (4.5 or 4x) and perfection loop to loop 4 ft of Maxima off the end loop. Tie whatever length of tippet you need off that. They cast like a dream, last indefinitely don't kink (no line memory). You can furl them to fit any situation. They are the best leader I know for transferring all of your forward cast to the fly. They take about 30 minutes to build at home and that's the job done for a couple of seasons at least.

Thanks heaps, I’ll try that!

BTW Gareth, if you have any issues making a leader I could spin one up for you to try. Cheers

My first trip of the season this year was 1 for 8 on 6-10 lb steelhead. Replaced the leader went out the following week went 14 for 15. I think the leader sat in my hot car through the summer and made it brittle. Or i was just rusty that day and wanted to blame the gear.

great video mate - did you see any other anglers in there? Also, I swear you have done bigger climbs and walks in on your other videos, this one is just a wee up and over! The other way to get to this spot also follows a great fishing river..

Hey man cheers. No didn’t see any other anglers

Cool mission. It sucks getting the odd rotten spool of leader material that snaps way more than it should. Just bin it to save the frustration on the water but its not cheap ay!
