I actually saw Mod Trident in osrs before. He was in the GE encouraging players to scam each other he stood there and watched and even laughed as a player was scammed. I called the player out who scammed the other player and he asked the player who was doing the scamming if I was bothering him and laughed when he found out that he scammed a player out of a twisted bow. He is one reason why I have not played OSRS in probably the last 6 months. I just can't play a game knowing that there are staff who actively encourage players to destroy the community like this.

I actually got banned under Oda’s cc for rwt. Yes I did rwt 1-2b throughout the years of being bored and wanting to buy some things. I accepted my wealth removal and ban status bcuz I did break tos. Mod trident finding out my account through “routine” checks is pretty bs. Excited to see him get the boot and potentially get a legal case from jagex. Imagine choosing who are the exceptions to rule breaking if that’s the case there are no rules or tos for osrs. I feel like theres an misunderstanding about rs bans. 1. If you rule break on 1 account the ban doesnt spread to other accounts. 2. Each ban must have its own explaination that you can view by logging into your account. 3. I dont think u can get ip banned. Oda meant that all his accounts got categorically banned (he can still make new accounts from his ip) Oda is mainly upset because he got target banned without account specific evidence

Yeah. Asmon is just applying how Blizz and most companies run their games compared to how Jaggex runs RS, which is very different. Jaggex is ran much more... informally than how most companies run their games, for hood or ill.

That isn't exactly true... RS only handles individual accounts as separate bans because they do zero work actually investigating etc, and leave it almost entirely up to their automated systems. When A Friend was banned, they banned ALL of his accounts at once, for example.(including an account owned by someone else that Dovydas played on occasionally) Nothing about what you said is RS policy, but rather just the result of lazy staff who don't actually want to put work into doing their job.

asmon had trouble getting it at first because he has the perspective of cheating from WoW, where its looked at much more harshly & discouraged in the community. In osrs cheating is looked at more softly. Jagex distinguishes between people who cheat to actually play the game (like buying gold or training services) vs people who dont actually want to play the game but only tries to make money off of it or something like that (like gold farmers and such) and they hand out punishments accordingly. Buying gold will only get you a warning (on your first offence), whereas selling will get you a perma ban even on your first offence. I know on wow its different, where if you cheat even once you get perma banned and not only that if you make a new account they'll keep banning you. That shits kinda fucked i prefer jagex's approach. After all a player who cheats is still a player. Of course they should be discouraged with some form of punishment, but no need to completely remove them from the game because they got a little impatient with grinding and decided to try and buy some gold to get to some more fun content in the game. Jagex also does it like this because they've said in the past that as far as they know at least 50% of the player base has bought gold or botted at least once. Literally every streamer has admitted to doing some sort of cheating in the past (like selling fire capes, botting, or RWT) but since its years ago jagex doesn't have an issue with it. Asmon kinda gets the wrong idea of o at first because he hears him admit to cheating in the past and therefor characterizes him as a bad guy, but in runescape thats looked as as pretty normal (hence why he is so open about it in the video as well). The point is oda hadn't done anything against the rules on the omar account, and had only been account services a little bit 2 YEARS ago on bald. Ordinarily they would have never looked into his accounts in the first place, let alone look THAT far back in his history to find something. In runescape as i say jagex has an "unofficial policy" that is if you did something a long time ago you wont get punished for it later if they discover it, and bans are basically always per account. IP bans only really happen to bot farmers or gold farmers. If o had actually been actively cheating on his main accounts and then woke up one day and saw he was banned, he would have just laughed it off like he does with other accounts. It was about the fact that in this situation he literally didn't deserve it & it was targeted.

Thats their biggest issue though. You cant leave ANY grey area in cheating. Any form of RWT be it buying or selling should be instant ban. Same with account aharing, same with botting, etc, etc. If you leave grey areas, you end up paying for it later when people abuse loopholes and the blame wars start. "I bought gold yeah, but so did X player too, why only i got banned?". It also overall deteriorates the communitys trust in fair play because you never know for sure. Did that player buy gold? Is the cape real? Are the leaderboards botted?

my original RS account i RWTed all the time i mean all the time. ALL of my membership dues were paid for via RWT i also sold gold on d2jsp. point being...i broke ToS super hard...and i never got banned. granted they have cracked down on RWT in the past bit for a while, but it still stands i was breaking ToS. Diablo 2 i was one of the top traders in the game period. d2jsp was against ToS...still used the hell out of it. Runescape has the worst community management of any game. Accounts get hacked and abused all the time, bots are rampent, Account security is beyond laughable, corrupt mods, real life money trading circles even ran by mods in the past. In this situation Oda might just be trying to safe face, but at the same time i wouldnt be suprised if the whole stella/mod trident stuff is legit, since it wouldn't be the first time something stupid like this happens.

Here's the problem, as a rs player since 2004. Accounts do not get banned for things done on seperate accounts, especially in this type of scenario with Odablock. The only time people get chain banned is when they are running HUGE BOT GOLDFARMS 24/7 to sell the gold OR if they are apart of a large RWT company (website). Odablocks account servicing was simply to level accounts so that he could make PKing content, he was not using it to buy/sell gold or for any nefarious reason. Almost every RS content creator who makes PKing content use other peoples accounts to make videos/stream on. The accounts that were serviced, were stated to have been serviced on 2+ years ago, while jagex only last year started implementing punishment for said services. How can you be banned for something that wasn't against the rules at the time of the "crime"? It's hard for asmon to understand this situation because RuneScape is a complex ass game and if you haven't played it for like 5+ years you likely have no idea whats going on.

You've entirely missed the issue which has nothing to do with whether Oda should be banned or not but rather the blatantly obvious, and evidence based, corruption of a Jagex employee (trident), doggy simping to some hoe that is making the calls and influencing decisions outside of her authority. That and she RWTs all the money from the competition she is eliminating through her simp mod boyfriend, which is against game tos, stealing as she bans players she is in debt too, and she likely never reported her bitcoin earnings to the IRS which is illegal in the USA. It's also not a stretch to assume that the money she got from rwt is being shared with her boyfriend who is helping her with all these efforts., and an employee working hand in hand with their intimate partner to profit off of abuse of power and cheating is totally illegal. He shouldn't only be fired, but Jagex should pursue legal action against him. How long you've been playing the game is totally irrelevant to acknowledging clear and obvious corruption occurring within a company...nor does it require any understandings of the history or innerworkings of the game...from someone whose been playing since 2003.

39:20 what oda is saying, is that if you and another player agree to risk 1b vs eachother, if one player teleports out instead of stays to the death, mod trident would ban them for that. Which makes very little sense considering its just a player vs player agreement, that you don't have to follow, other players just won't want to fight you if you do that right. So lets imagine we're playing wow, and I say, if you clear this boss ill give you 500k gold, and then he clears the fight and you don't pay him the 500k gold. It's not bannable just going against your word. Same thing as that, just in a pvp fight pretty much. But as you said, I believe they were banned for other things related to rwt, not just solely because they ran from a fight where they agreed to stay. But I heard just for running from the fights, she would try to get you banned. So who knows, only the mod team would know that.

There is some merit to the idea that there is ONE account that a person wouldnt cheat on when they would happily cheat on others. Account security isnt even the biggest factor here although it is a factor- it makes it harder to lose the account. The big thing as you said is this is the no life game where grinding is the whole point. The journey not the destination. People who buy these leveling services have probably tasted the forbidden fruit and generally disliked what they were left with. Theres just so much less personal satisfaction.

Settled, who is another very popular face of the community with the most KZbin subs of OSRS content creators, is known to have account shared during his most popular series that he has on KZbin, Swampletics. Nothing has happened to him, nor any of his accounts. While Oda's past is murky within the community, he was certainly targeted for this ban. Jagex can either use this situation to create a precedent that account sharing is no longer allowed/no grey area, or they should give Oda his accounts back. Simple.

Yeah account sharing is not bannable when it is not harmful to the integrity of the game. Only where there is proof of a monetary transaction (or it is painfully obvious that the account is being boosted from like Venezuela, and only doing tedious activities there. Or maybe the account is played on time across the world, completes an incredibly hard challenge there, and never plays again from there). If you share an account with a friend, let your friend log in for you while you're away, or do stuff like that, that's okay as stated by Jagex. The gray area where it starts tipping over, is if you threaten the integrity of the hiscores by setting up like a team with rotating sleep schedules, so they can be logged in gaining exp all the time. This is actionable, as it threatens the integrity of the hiscore list. However, none of these account sharing or even paid boosting has ever resulted in permanent bans. It is always proportional to the size of the service. If you boost a hard achievement? it gets removed and you get maybe a week ban. If you pay someone to boost 100 hours worth of mining training, maybe a month or two banned. If you threaten the hiscores by account sharing around the clock, just a few weeks to let others take you over and let you know it won't be acceptable.

In the first place account sharing isn't against the rules, you can lend your account to your friend all you want and it's totally fine, what's not allowed is account "servicing" meaning that any kind of action on an account that is being paid for, is against the rules. Oda admitted his account had been "serviced" a long time ago, therefor he broke the rules, however the severity of this offence shouldn't apply a permanent ban to every account that he owns, especially if the other accounts had only been shared and not serviced. The real problem though isn't the Oda got banned, It's that Stella and Trident haven't faced any consequences when they have both been breaking rules that are genuinely compromising the integrity of the company and game as a whole.

I feel what doesn't get across to asmongold is the social credit and value of word odablock has built up. the man made his living begging for money and took on every penny of that debt. I think the documentary on it claims oda got to like 235k in debt. But he did claw it out, he paid it off, and was the only debt staker to actually back up their word. If oda says he didn't service omar. I feel at this point I will trust that at face value

Some may not like it, but asmongolds way of processing and evolving information and viewpoints is so unashamedly human, and reflective of what most of us do in our own heads as we come to understand something. Its just so marvelling to watch him do so verbally and im here for it. Now I get that not all of us do this in our heads, but genuinely, we should. Humanity would be far better off for it. Being willing to change your mind, is integral to adapting and learning, becoming better. A stubborn individual will hammer the nail over and over even if it wont go in. A adaptive person will hit it once, twice, maybe even a third time, but after it doesnt go in, they will find a new solution. Very basic comparison, that applies to all lines of thinking. Tbh, as illogical as it is, NOT servicing your main account while servicing others makes sense to me as an OSRS player. Your main is your baby, u no-life it and u care about collectibles, achievements, etc. So u dont want to jeopardize it. Meanwhile you occasionally wanna goof off on some random account or try weird shit, but u dont care about it, so u pay for servicing, and u dont really spend much time on it or care if its banned. It may be a thing line, but to me it makes perfect sense. My cousin did the same thing, and while i didnt get it serviced, i had no problem sharing my secondary accounts, but never my baby, my main ironman.

I think your stream had an influence of Jagex deigning to publicly address the situation. I have a distinct impression this would've been shoved under the rug as no big deal, if not for the heavy community backlash. The main source (Odablock) is a very difficult person to like. Jagex probably share that view. I don't think this case is 'an appearance of corruption' , which can be as bad as corruption itself. I think its plain as day obvious collusion, profiteering, and dirty dealing.

I ran from runescape years ago, cause of their mod problems already then and found "Lost Relics" few years ago to cleanse my thirst of skilling! Not really surprised trident has done what the accusations are. This has been happening almost since the start of adding mods into jagex with many weird bans back then already. Oda is a PKer on OSRS. PKing is not like PvP on other games. The enture gameplay is like throwing dirt in each other's faces and cheapshoting. You use spec weps with quick gear switches to spec out an opponent in a single game tick. It's highly skill based, and highly dishonesable. It's also often going after non PvPers who are tyring to farm bosses. Shooting fish in a barrel. Oda is the embodyment of PKing irl. Scammy, scummy, and hyperactive.

I tried Runescape a few months ago and was really getting into it but on the third day was banned. They claimed I was botting and the message on the account was very insufferable; something along the lines of 'our highly trained staff are never wrong'. Regardless, I appealed the ban and threatened a charge-back. But it was late Friday and they didn't get back to it until the next week whereupon they reversed the ban. By then my vibe had been completely lost, I was still mad at such an insufferable ban message-- not to mention mad at having been banned for the first time in 24 years of playing MMOs, and had decided that there is no way I could justify spending time in a game that could randomly ban me. So I did the chargeback on the unbanned account in order to get it banned... In other words: As an alum of EQ and Lineage 1/2 who had somehow managed to never try Runescape until recently, I was really liking its grindy aspects but it can go F itself...
