Thanks for a differentbcoin hunt 👍 Some channels seem obsessed with 50p or £2 hunts over and over again. I find that annoying (and boring) when there's so much more to coin collecting

Just need the 1905 to complete my daterun of 1902/1936. It will set me back around 500 quid though, for an 05 in Just fine grade 😢

@@BitsAndBobsCoins Plenty on Ebay and also some dealers, they are just overpriced as so many collect the EVII HC's. There are rarer dates and (imo) more spectacular runs...

A lot of those 1920 - 21 were flat as fuck. Off to the smelters. Lovely vid.👍 Yes. I do have the full date run, but collecting British coins have become hard for me as a Dane after brexit.

Why melt them? They still are silver bullion.

You could also keep them and wait for the future when spot price might be higher, no point melting them unless you needed the money and didn’t want to re sell them 😮

The cynic in me wonders whether Treasury minted huge numbers of half crowns in 1920/1 so they could swap out a correspondingly huge number of sterling HC's from circulation, thereby effectively buying 92.5% silver with 50% silver! E.g. I do find the 1919 HC quite hard to source despite >10M supposedly being minted (vs 18M for 1920). As always, follow the money...

I don't understand why you are not comparing the quality of each coin as you go, to ensure that those in the tray are the best of those in the packages, so you can be certain that the very best examples end up in your main collection rather than your stacking box.

I'm gonna challenge you on this, as there are some seriously scarce coins in a complete HC date run. I guess perhaps you have every date, rather than every variety, e.g. I've never even seen an 1823 type 1 (GIV 1st bust 1st rev) let alone bought one. Ditto the 1824 type 2 (GIV 2nd bust 3rd rev ... proof only). Other super-rare dates exist, e.g. 1839, 1841, 1853 (proof only). If you have all these then I beg your pardon!
