Hi Rangerdoc, I have the Ampi-firebox MK II, I know there are good tones in there, but I'm struggling getting anything similar to what I hear online. Specifically, dialing in the various gain and volume settings is confusing. I have gain, master and volume on the pedal, plus the input/output in my interface and my DAW. It sounds like I'm playing my speakers as an amp rather than listening to a recording of an amp. I'd be grateful for any suggestions about how to systematically dial in a good tone.

@@neilkorsgaard I'd recommend Leon Todd's channel. He has a "dialing in" of the amplifire. The secret is absolutely in the EQ blocks.

I can see this pedal being REALLY useful as a sort of "backup rig in a pedal" for a touring guitarist. Like, if the tubes in their amp crap out mid-gig, instead of stopping the show, they could just hook this up to FOH and let 'er rip. Hell, some of those amp models sound good enough that I almost wouldn't be against using this as my entire rig for small hometown shows just playing for a few buddies or whatever.

Would love to see this compared against the Mooer Preamp Live. I loved the Mooer Preamp Live. Based on your review I got one. It did sound awesome & I loved the interface. But it had some distinct digital noise on the higher gain models. I finally got rid of it. Interestingly, I have the BE100 micro preamp pedal & it sounds as good without the digital artifacts (provided you use your own IR instead of the cab sim). Edit: finally got the Firebox.... It Blows Away the Mooer! Simply awesome tone.

It's natural wear. The only relic'd guitar he has is his old Bea Sig with the Floyd Rose that used to be orange burst. All his other guitars have this one very specific mark from playing in between the neck and bridge pickup.
@bremsnix
@bremsnix 6 жыл бұрын
It's his pick that he hits the body with when he is playing live. He even spoke about not being able to play the new Chapmans live because he had to do demo videos on them for Chapman Guitars and if he took them out they would all get this mark from him playing them.

Hey Bea, nice review as always! I wanted to ask you, Im currently thinking about buying the Boss Katana 100 1x12, and I wonder, do you think I'll be able to achieve some ambient tones with it? Cheers mate, and thank you for being such an amazing artist

Bea, what kind of studio monitors are you using? You made this ampli-firebox sound great!
@TidesOnEarth
@TidesOnEarth 6 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, big fan of your vids... This may be a weird question and an odd comparison, but it's what I'm considering. I'm know you've reviewed the Boss Katana series in some of your other vids. If you were using the Katana as just a modelling amp (either into another amp or even a PA, using it for its fx and amp modelling) do you prefer the sound of it for modelling or this pedal as a modeller? I'm currently using a Katana 50 in a signal chain because I want to use the great fx/amps from the Katana for looping as I'm a solo act. Because of that though, my Katana has become essentially a really big amp modeller. I found this pedal in your reviews and thought that maybe this would be a better option. Obviously size-wise this a way more convenient option, but at the end of the day, sound is the deciding factor, although it's hard to ignore the convenience of a pedal like this that can fit on your board, vs. carrying around an amp. I'd appreciate feedback from anyone with an opinion!
@BenFletcherGuitar
@BenFletcherGuitar 6 жыл бұрын
Could you run it clean at the end of a pedalboard and go direct to PA? Some modelling devices sound quite brittle when you run pedals in to them, I was wondering if you've tried this? Great playing by the way, mate!

I felt although it appears to be good value people looking to buy this would still be interested in its limitations as well for such a small unit, especially compared to there larger units. For example with only 2 foot switches how much does that limit you live when you want to change sounds, what can't you edit compared to other units, it appears to have just one mono output, how many effects can you use at once, does it have chorus, wah, etc. effects, do they regular update for new sounds. I know this is a lot to ask from a small unit at this price but these are key questions people want to know to avoid disappointment and wasting there money.

@julianvandenboom8633
@julianvandenboom8633 6 жыл бұрын
Corey you can set which effect sections go on or off globally. But per preset you can set the style of each effect. For example. Channel 1 is clean, channel 2 is high gain, you set your footswitch settings to turn on boost and delay. So the boost button will engage the delay and boost block in both presets but you can dial in a soft digital eco with a screamer boost in the highgain preset, and a clean boost with an analog delay in the clean preset.
