A few notes: 1. The US maternal mortality rate places being a mother as the 4th most dangerous job, so still nothing to sniff at. 2. The 1% maternal mortality rate is per pregnancy, not per woman. Remember they didn't have modern contraception either so for the average number of pregnancies per woman (7-10) the death rate would be 7-10% over a woman's life time.

It sounds like Hilary was trying to help Gerald by telling him to disassociate from Crowder. Telling him to get off a sinking ship, before he goes down with it. But Gerald has the energy of the bullied kid who orbits the bully and does all his homework and gives up his lunch money willingly in the hopes that one day the bully will stand up for him, and Crowder is the kind of guy to throw him into oncoming traffic to save a single dollar.

@@pafeso1659In Canada if you work a certain amount of hours before a child is born/fostered/adopted then you apply for parental leave to the governmentof Canada. You get paid 1 years worth of 60% of your salary. You can apply for up to 18 months of parental leave, but you still only get 1 year /60%. A lot of people will take 1 year due to this, but it is an option. Parents can share the 18 months and can even take time simultaneously. Ex: mother takes 15 months leave and father takes 3 months with the first 3 months of babies life having both parents off to care for baby. It is flexible. There are also other childcare credits given to parents as well. There is likely more to this, but I haven't experienced it personally to know all the details.

to hila- i was induced with my 1st baby and i absolutely loved it! i’m more of a “planning” type of girl and i like when i know when things are happening. with my 2nd i had an induction date scedualed but my son ended up coming 2 days before my induction and he also just shot out lol no time for an epidural, no doctor, my nurse caught him with one glove on, and my husband had JUST made it in the room. i’m pregnant with my 3rd baby and due in may (my rainbow baby after four losses🌈🤍) and i’m going back and forth with being induced or not.. but i think if given the opportunity and option with this baby i think i’ll try the induction again because with 2 kids i reallllly have to plan things out now and it stresses me out to not know when the baby is coming😂 with all that said you do what you think is best for you! although i loved being induced some women do not have a positive experience like i did, and p.s. the induction contractions are ABSOLUTELY insane. have a great and safe labor and delivery and a good recovery🫶🫶🫶 family family family!

If I had access to Ethan and Hila’s finances and the services in LA, I’d be looking to hire a live in midwife/doula for the next week or so, that removes any issue of Ethan managing an urgent labour at home… They’d accompany her to hospital to the team she knows but be a support in the interim in case of 20 minute labor.

@@On_The_Piss agreed, can’t specify all caveats in a pretty quick YT comment, but the intention was that either (or another option, I don’t have kids so have no idea the full suite of professional birthing companions) would provide the support and potential knowledge in the interim. @Jordan-nw4sj
@Jordan-nw4sj 2 ай бұрын
@@jlk0016jlkI'm not sure about a live in midwife, most have multiple patients and wouldn't be able to commit to that. most midwifes are on call 24/7, but in the event of a super quick labor may not be fast enough. A live in doula could be an option, but they are trained to support the mother, not necessarily to deliver and care for a baby. Doulas are generally emotional support, not medical care.

Fun potato fact: the part of the potato plant that we eat is not the root, but actually formed by the stem (to store those tasty carbs). Plants, like animals, have different tissues with different functions - where animals have things like a brain, gut and muscles, for plants it‘s their roots, stem and leaves. Tuber refers to a swelling of plant tissue, there are stem tubers like the edible part of the potato and root tubers like the sweet potato (not closely related, more like a second cousin)

@janabanana3977
@janabanana3977 2 ай бұрын
Best of luck with your Andean potatoes! 🙏 They look pretty sick 😎👌 Potato tubers being stem tubers is also the reason for them turning green when exposed to light - stems are often doing photosynthesis, which is what they need the (green) chlorophyll for, while roots, being underground most of the time, usually don‘t. There are, of course, examples of both stems not being green (e. g. when they are instead used mainly for stability, like in many trees) and roots being green (e. g. plants that grow on top of trees, like some orchids that are popular house plants)

The Finns are definetly a group not to be messed with. There was a sniper in the winter war by the name of Simo Häyhä nicknamed "White Death" because of the white camo that he would wear to blend into the snow. It is recorded that he took down 505 Soviet soldiers during the conflict.

@@On_The_Piss Stalin decided to do a false flag operation, blaming the Finns for the Soviet casualties he himself sacrificed so he could go to war with Finland. The allies basically turned a blind eye, the only choice was to accept help from whoever would help. That being said, Finland never sent a single Jew to Germany despite numerous requests from the Nazis. So "collaborated with the Nazis" as you put it, is maybe a bit of a misrepresentation.

@@stedibear No misrepresentations here: “According to the Finnish records 19,085 Soviet prisoners of war died in Finnish prison camps during the Continuation War, which means that 29.6% of Soviet POWs taken by the Finns did not survive. The high number of fatalities was mainly due to malnutrition and diseases. However, about 1,000 POWs were shot, primarily when attempting to escape.” “When the Finnish Army controlled East Karelia between 1941 and 1944, several concentration camps were set up for Russian civilians. The first camp was set up on 24 October 1941, in Petrozavodsk. Of these interned civilians 4,361 perished mainly due to malnourishment, 90% of them during the spring and summer of 1942.” “The Finnish leadership adhered to many written and oral agreements on practical co-operation with Germany during the conflict. Finland was one of Germany's most important allies in the attack on the Soviet Union, allowing German troops to be based in Finland before the attack and joining in the attack on the USSR almost immediately. The 1947 Paris Peace treaty signed by Finland stated that Finland had been "an ally of Hitlerite Germany" and bore partial responsibility for the conflict.”
