First time in years I've seen a snow blowing plow like at the beginning. They used them in northern Canada 45 years ago, blowing snow back 30 - 40' between houses. I don't miss driving in those conditions.

I feel.like we're just having a normal old fashioned winter. I'm from Montana. Recent past winters have been fairly mild with low snowfall. But this year, so far, we're getting more snow and colder weather. Like when I was a young girl. Normal. The snow would fall early and never go away all winter
@kenneycooper6199 Жыл бұрын
I used to drive semi truck out that way and I don’t miss it on bit. This looks like I-80 in the Donner Pass area or on I-5 in the mountains. It’s all headed east now.

First time driving my rig to Cali from east coast to Reno thru donner down 15 got stopped by chp outside mammoth mtn. Cop says where you coming from?, I say R.I. he says what you don't like chains? I say yeah I'm wearing one. With that I get escorted right off the next exit. No ticket tho.

more than normal? in spring when it melts and there's no ground cover due to fires will we see massive erosion/floods/landslides?
@WxChasing Жыл бұрын
More than normal, it is a powerful storm. Not unusual though. And you are correct. The snowpack is melting away 45 days earlier and creating longer fire seasons and shorter snow seasons. The normal in that area is now just extreme.

I never thought of California having a blizzard. I'm from Kansas City and as a child snow like this was expected. It hasn't been like that for a number of years now. I hope everyone stays safe and drives slow.
@davidflitcroft7101 Жыл бұрын
The Mountains of the West are high enough to almost annually have "blizzard conditions." Even one thousand feet, vertically, is like going hundreds of miles north. . . . I ve worked too many winters in the Cascades to enjoy this video; it is dangerous and threatening.
@marcmcdonald2888 Жыл бұрын
This is nothing unusual for the Sierras when California is not in a drought. The Donner pass and tahoe are notorious for this as well as many parts of the eastern Sierra mountains. The mammoth lakes area off us 395 ca 203 can and do just get pounded with snow on a good or normal year
@kathyyoung1774 Жыл бұрын
I’m not being sarcastic or anything. Look at a map of CA, especially a relief map. Few people realize the huge range of climate and weather in that big state. It helps to see it on a map. Best wishes.
