Just a bit of trivia, Mangrove pods are called propagules because unlike most other plants' seeds, mangrove propagules germinate while still on the tree! This is an adaptation that helps then to grow rapidly upon falling to the soil below once they are ripe, I wish we could buy them like that here in Australia.

Maybe for the mangroves you had in the specimen box @ 8:30 ….. You could possibly try to DIY something like the Fluval hang on breeder boxes that actually have tank water flowing through them by use of an air pump.
@chevyfish40282 жыл бұрын
I really like that betta light. It is great to see all you guys together. The camaraderie is fantastic. An idea that I employ is growing plants in the Finnex (now Fluval) breeder boxes. They work on either a water pump or an airline-to-pump connection so water is constantly slowly flowing into, through and out of the box. You don't have to worry about plants getting uprooted by fish & mud going everywhere. The plants also grow up & out of the breeder boxes so it gives them more oxygen from the air. It is a great duckweed management corral. The best part is that it hooks onto the side of the tank instead of using flimsy suction cups.

The fish room looks better each video I see if it! Excited to see more green in there too 💚 I have a large pothos vine that used to grow out of my tank, but I couldn’t keep the submerged plants going since the vine was so greedy for nutrients. I put it in water in a glass vase container that hangs on the wall just above the tank, so I still get the jungle feel, but the plants inside the aquarium get enough to eat too. A squirt of easy green goes into the pothos water each week and it’s still growing like mad 🌿

I've used mangroves for years. I would use them in a lot of my harder to manage tanks. When they get too big for the aquariums, I'd sell them off. I also bought them in bulk, usually 30-50 at a time. when they were small. I also put them in my overflows and sump tanks. They help manage the water quality very well. Oh and to keep nibbiliers off... I used buckets with craft fabric glued over the holes and the roots stuck in a bit of rocks

I've got pathos in almost everyone of my tanks, hornwort too. I end up composting tons of hornwort almost every week, but it's so beneficial I don't mind. Easy Green works magic on houseplants too. i've tried red mangroves in my turtle stock tank several times, they generally get to 6 or 8 leaves and then will start to die without ferts, i would suggest trying to plant them in substrate with fert tabs, any damage to the rootlets will lead to problems so make sure they are under your substrate and protected

I grow Pothos directly in my 70 gallon with roots dangling and Riccia fluitans growing attached onto the roots. The biggest issue is that it gets gigantic and has to be cut back before it eats the wood walls. I've had huge leaves ten inches long. I thought the brown shrimp were males and the bright red were females. I guess I'm mistaken.
