Master Color Removal without Selections in Photoshop!
Learn how to knock a color out of a layer in Photoshop to make that color look see through. This process uses Blending Options to remove a color using a simple slider without even making a selection of that color. This is so quick and easy and editable but I'll also show you how to bake the effect into a layer when you need to permanently remove that color.

Instead of merging the text layer with an empty layer, you can just convert the text layer to a smart object. Then it will recognize the transparency created by the blend if and you can use the color overly effect to change the color and remove any left over fringing from the outline. The advantage of doing it this way is you don’t lose your blend if options since they are embedded in the smart object.
