I have trouble with stress. I know at the stress word we can go high or go low, but I don’t know how. Because I think about the stressed syllable in the word. I mean if the word I want to stress have 3 sylables. And the stress if the first one. So If I go high that mean the second and the last sylable is higher. It seems like i pronunciate this word Ưởng. So could you teach me that.

A stressed syllable means your voice generally gets louder, your pitch is higher, and the stressed vowel sound is longer. (Louder, higher, longer) I have some short videos that might help. Here's one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGq9npycibh7etE

Happy teaching! 🌺🌸

Hi Marcela. Thank you for the support. No, native speakers aren't usually taught intonation patterns. You learn these from childhood -- actually from infancy. Please don't be hard on yourself. The videos are made to be watched and watched again. Review the exercises. Repeat the patterns. You won't master the patterns from only watching once. Record yourself, too, in order to evaluate yourself. Good luck! Hope to see you on Simor. :)

Pronunciation is the key to understanding. it's interesting how tone can tell you where the sentence is going, often sounding optimistic to begin with but ending in gloom and doom. Quite often when you hear the coordinating conjunction 'but' or the subordinate conjunction 'if,' we can also tell where the sentence is going. If we could remove these words from our language, then life would be very positive all the time.

I’m gonna recommend your channel to all my friends and family. You’re perfect because you explain everything so clearly, to the point and what’s more, you give us enough time to practice after you. I was going to look for English classes in a community college, but I am not anymore, I think I understand and speak English so much better just by watching this series. Hi Akam. Thank you for checking out the lesson. Each teacher has his or her approach. Some slow down a lot to articulate. Some never do. I vary my speed consciously and with intention. Have you watched my Fast Speech Challenge? There's exposure to faster speech in that series. In a number of exercises in this intonation series, I say a sentence slightly slower and then repeat it at a more natural speed. This is for everyone's sake, learners of all levels. Many won't catch the nuances if I only spoke fast. I want learners not only to reproduce my intonation, but also my rhythm and linking. I hope the series has helped you to some degree. Thanks again for visiting my channel! :)

Hi.When you make the glottal stop sound, would you feel some vibration in your vocal cords/

The purpose of the stop is the cut off the sound and stop the vibration, so it begins with a voiced sound, but then you stop the sound and the flow of air.
