Working remotely only is tough. Being in the same place physically makes communicating, brainstorming and cooperating with the team much easier and consequently ideas flow better. You can tell Id are trying very hard to make polished content, however the pandemic is affecting everyone's development process. I think its better to wait a bit more for a more polished product, especially during the pandemic. Don't worry, they have this well in hand.

This. Don't forget that there's a pandemic going on and everyone is locked in their homes w/o access to better work equipment. The mere fact they managed to dish out the DLC (and NAILED IT TOO no less) and this Master Level is a huge achievement on its own. Imagine how it would've been if the pandemic didn't happen.

@@KevBoy3D I mean that’s the thing dude. this master level is a lot more ambitious than just changing enemy spawns. the entire dynamic of some sections have changed entirely, there are rooms you have to swim through now, cramped story and progression sections that are now claustrophobic combat rooms, fog and brand new uses of the buff totem too. this level has a lot going on man so I think the level being this glitchy sucks but’s also totally understandable (as long as it doesn’t happen again)

@@KevBoy3D Still, they're rebalancing the map. Shit' bound to happen. This ain't a custom .WAD made for classic DooM by opening DooM Builder, this is a fully pledged game. Master Levels may as well be entirely new maps almost made from scratch.

The whole master level reminds me of a lot of the brutal trickery the original ID team did back with Doom in the 90's, I love it. The tiny dual Tryrant+Doom Hunter+Carcass room feels exactly like something Romero would have come up with, great stuff. Shame it launched so unpolished.

Blood punch and flame belch allows you to blood punch while instantly recharging blood punch. Equipment fiend is also good to turn on in this room.

Strange how everyone is saying that this level is bugged. I literally encountered 0 of the above bugs. Only the longer loading times. Didn't even notice the chaingun's noise.

Same. Even the Chaingun. Only "bug" I ran into was the "Spectres refusing to spawn in the enclosed Whiplash-Spectres and Pinky Spectres fight room" bug. Everything else was normal - like I said, I didn't even notice the Chaingun sound.

In general, it's the best Master Level. The most intense, pressuring one of them all. However, due to the softlocks, glitches, etc., the level gets partially ruined for most people. In the last arena fight, I just beat each Archville, but the imps just kept spawning. The same thing for Mayo on stream, except a baron spawned in a little pocket up above the arena, I'm hoping the hotfix next week will help with these issues.

Or the gimmicky arenas. A billion cyber mancubi and a dread knight with barely any space. And then 2 tyrants without any space and if you die you have to do the billions of mancubi after a doom hunter and 2 caco's again. And while mayo loves it, I HATE NAY DESPISE the 2 marauders in a small area filled with toxic waste. I didn't expect this on ultra violence, and I couldn't lower the difficulty to hurt me plenty or easy. That's BS. I didn't play extra life mode, just the normal version. I rage quit. We barely have any space, and we have to manage a' extra resource, and we fight a double marauder. I hate this. 1 maurader there would be fine, but not 2. I constantly get locked in place without any rad suit or health. FUCK THOSE ASSHOLES! I hate the marauder now. Fucking hell

@@maxime2445 That's one of the easiest fights, though. What is making it so difficult? Stay near the RAD suit refill, and be sure to keep dashing in mid-air to avoid getting hit.

@@OrangeBox93 Haven't gotten to Nightmare yet, but I'll get it soon. I'll wait for the next series of unlockable content to come up next week, so I'll get some XP for the effort. Oh, yes, and let's not forget about using the zombies in this fight! Either use the Meathook to propel yourself around the arena to avoid the marauders, as well as pull yourself towards the RAD refill, or set them on fire and drop a frag grenade. Either of these will give you armor. Good to have when even the floor is a threat. Use the RAD refill the same as the chainsaw. Don't just go towards it when you're low. Stay near it as much as you can and keep grabbing it whenever you can, regardless of how full your meter is. Integrate it into your combat.

"No spirits" I suspect that they made SGN spirit-less because SGN is a base game Master Level. Anyone with the base game can get it & AG DLC isn't a requirement. Plus NOT having to add in / code in a DLC enemy makes encounters easier to design.

Yea I was starting with 0 as well until I saw Frosty do a speedrun with full BFG in the first room. Then I realized you carry whatever you character has on him in the main campaign into the master levels, so go into your campaign and stock up on stuff/upgrade your guns then try this again.

1:22 That happened to me. I thought a tougher demon go stuck in the map and I couldn't continue. Then after killing several fodder enemies I was able to carry on. 5:43 I was first playing this in Classic Mode I found it tough because I'm use to the Ballista and SSG combo, and I didn't have those. 6:20 This is where I gave up, I'm not good at fighting super heavies in such a small space. Maybe I'll continue after these bugs a fixed though.

one thing that is odd is how many micro stutters I had. I actually the main campaign to see if it is the whole game, but that has barely ever any micro stutters. something about the master level is bugged as hell and after a certain point the sound just completely gets fucked. sound doesn't play properly and all.

If anyone is getting stuck at the map loading screen, try lowering the "Texture Pool Size" a notch. I noticed when I alt-tab out of the loading screen and left it running in the background, after a while a mem allocation error popped up. So I tired lowering the setting and it fixed the loading issue for me. Something in the last patch must have changed the amount of gpu vram it attempts to pre-allocation when a map loads.

I had a Hell Knight glitched halfway into a wall at the part where a couple Archville's spawn towards the end. Fought like 200 fodder demons until I could finally find him.

This master level is on par with the ancient gods in difficulty. I was literally saying "no way" with certain encounters. Also, this is not the level to try with classic start

About the doors not opening that was an issue on cultist base as well and the way I had to fix it was to delete my entire save and start a new game unfortunately

One thing that was happening even before the update, a burning arachnotron dissapearing, leaving the fire effect behind. Its just an egg of fire that dips performance when looked at.

The load time glitch happens in the ancient gods dlc too. Was playing on nightmare and well.. it made me die less as I didn't wanna be stuck in the loading screen lol

I had a bug with an impossible to stagger marauder in the area where the thick fog appears. I thought I was just missing my timing at first but he was definitely impossible to stagger. The bug persisted through checkout restarts and kind of ruined the level for me. I haven't actually gone back to complete it yet, it really soured the experience because I was doing really well on that very first run until that point.

I literally cannot finish this level at the moment if I get killed. I end up in that room by the heart where you pull the switch but the switch is inactive and the door is locked. Also if I got back to that first arena area the Cyberdemons and everything will spawn AGAIN. how did they screw this up so badly.

Does the BFG make the game crash for anyone else? Happens to me since release, happens rarely but it happens. When you shoot the BFG it winds up and when the projectile should come out your game just closes. Ruined my UN run in the last arena on this..

In doom I have ran into very few bugs, but when I did they usually forced me load the last checkpoint. For example for some unknown reason I got a blood punch on a marauder while it was in glory kill state, then I just cant kill it, it took no damage. Once again load checkpoint fixed that but I had to fight them all again. In the new master level I would complete a battle but it kept spawning fodder enemy's preventing me from continuing my rampage. Loading my last check point fixed these problems and I dont mind killing them again. I just wonder if any one else ran into these problems as well. And for the invincible enemy glitch that happened on regular campaign.

the update also brought a music issue in some of the levels in the main campaign - eg in mars core the fight music sometimes just forgets to start, i fought entire arenas without it, instead the game continued running the quiet pass-through sections music. and the 99% loading screen glitch applies to almost all levels, not just the master SGN. and also, yeah, the chaingun sound stuff is annoying as hell.

Even after 4.1 there are some problems with the level. Mainly the part where the berserk powerup spawns. I am assuming the enemies are supposed to spawn when you pick the up the berserk powerup, but sometimes they just don't spawn. Just today, I was playing through it on ultra violence and when I picked up berserk no enemies spawned. Eventually they did but I wasted that berserk on absolutely nothing and that was just frustrating

I do really enjoy the new master level but I definitely have noticed the bugs that were present when I first played. The chaingun sound was the first thing I noticed and yeah it needs to be fixed for sure. I like classic mode a lot! Its a nice challenge since you don't have all the weapons at the start and right away you fight in intense encounters. I hope the master levels we get in the future are as intense as this!

I think all levels are having the 99% glitch /: I thought it was related to my mods but after removing them I still have it. Does anyone know what’s up with the chain gun? Did they try and give it a new firing sound or is it a glitch? I also hate it so I’m hoping its just a glitch lol
