I feel like everything I’ve ever worked at, the release has been the #1 factor in all my faults. This is gold because when I think of my hands and releasing in my downswing, my body does everything naturally. I’m actually thinking about release before getting to the top.
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I'd have to see your swing to give you further feedback. For me the release is just a byproduct and not something I think about much.

I agree 100% with this. I tried it on the course today and it held up. The club was stable, no trying to save everything, and it felt like a much heavier hit than normal.

Precisely what I’ve been moving too. I get so handsy that, when things go south, there not enough room to the left of the planet. Huge hook. This is really beginning to sink in. Cannot wait to get out and swing it.

Thank you for this video. I am still working at keeping the trail wrist bent back and allowing the body to turn. I have a tendency to start the "slap" early and then hit it fat. I really like the thought of turning the corner with trail wrist bent back. I need to be careful and not come ver the top with trail shoulder

I'm confused as well. Milo, I have seen you on a # of occasions using the baseball swing to show the body movement and that has more forearm rotation then is does wrist flip. I think the same would go for a tennis swing. I think my biggest issue is that it's hard for me to connect shooting a basketball and throwing a pitch to the golf swing.
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
The pivot in a baseball swing is very similar to driving but the wrist action is different because there is no face to square. Baseball has 0 rotation in the forearms until post impact. If you follow my instructions on the grip and wrist mechanics very little forearm rotation is needed and the release is automatic.

I’ve had 19 hours of lessons between Milo and Ed. At first it was awkward due to me being more of an arm dominated swing. After numerous hours of foundation drills 1 & 2 it clicked and made sense. It felt I had to thinks about it (the release) until I changed my tempo and let things happen naturally. I hit the ball farther with what seems to feel like less effort.. These two Milo & Ed are not only terrific with their knowledge of golf but are also fantastic people..

Although from UK I do like watching baseball. One thing that the batters do which golfers do not is 'check swing' although Tiger Woods famously did it in the 2007 Masters when the shadow of a bird caught his eye. I was surprised to find out that players even practise the 'check swing'. I imagine that this is the 'moment of release', everything is in position, ready to go and then the brakes are applied.

I think there are multiple types of players. Those who’s arms react to the body (above teaching) and those who’s body react to the arms (Marty Scheinblum, Mike Malaska). As a golfer, you need to figure out who you are.

Would you say it's more of a vertical release? I will say I paired this with "getting my hands to the wall" and the results are amazing. Easy to draw the ball that way.

What’s the key to implementing this release without adding dynamic loft?
@edlasatergolf7 ай бұрын
The release of the club/wrist happens as a by product of several factors such as how high your trying to hit it, how much speed you have, shot shape you’re trying to create.

My confusion is that this move has in previous teaching been classified as a wrist flip. Please explain if possible how to prevent adding loft by using this motion. Thanks.
@Seneale2 жыл бұрын
You move your body so that your low point and ”flip” happens after the ball, that way your not adding loft. I Went from a slicer to a straight to drawer of the ball by learing this. Also with the driver you obviously want to ”flip” right before so that you hit up
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
If the body doesn’t pivot dynamically then all releases are flips of some sort. The key here is a dynamic pivot and the unwinding of the wrist angles with minimal twisting of the face.
@tylerspillman2765 Жыл бұрын
@@Seneale quick question how have you been able to draw using this? I feel when applying it I hit straight to slight fades with it. It feels like an anti hook shot as with the body rotation its a swing to the left?? Find it hard to draw it swinging to the left so aggressively. Hope that makes sense

kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2rOoGtsnMh5adEsi=IHbCp2O_u6NEg_rR I am confused because at 1:37 in your own swing you can see there is some serious twist going on because of how shut the face has become so soon after impact?
@MiloLinesGolf6 ай бұрын
Excluding the shot I am playing at the time, the feeling doesn't always create the reality and the club will tend to roll especially in my case with my matchups. But I can promise you I am doing by best to just turn through and keep the face stable, and not actively "releasing" or "twisting" it. In essence I like to feel that the face remains fairly square throughout, but physics will play its part especially after impact.
@davecohn64072 жыл бұрын
Hogan had a lot of supination ( forearm roll) , but because he had such a strong pivot he did NOT have a roll release
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
Supination in the lead forearm is needed to square the face for weaker grip players even though the trail forearm might not be rolling much at all.
@sigmastodon Жыл бұрын
You barely mentioned the word “tension” and it’s the main factor causing a poor or good release, in my opinion. Especially tension in your grip.
