Nowhere near the calibre of contestants in Masterchef Australia. This lot would have gone home well before the final.

I didn't much like Mary until this one. But now, realising she actually has a bit of love in her (for her husband) not just the hard-stare thing going on, I like her more or rather dislike her less. She isn't the one I want to win however and so of course I am forced to watch 😃Thank you @Cooking

I didn’t enjoy this series as much as other Masterchefs. The whole design of the show was odd. All of the others I’ve seen were in a studio- this one is in studio apartment. They don’t involve the other contestants in voting or even let them watch the tasting most of the time. They don’t assign them dishes to make or give them ingredients; they give them ones to replicate instead. These contestants were working in restaurants a lot. Usually it’s only one episode in other countries. This gives them line experience. That’s great if you want to be a chef and work in a restaurant but most don’t. They say it tests their ability to work under pressure. That really has nothing to do with how good a cook you are. There are a lot of things I like. No drama. But so little drama it’s boring. The Masterchef classes are great but I wish they were done off screen cuz it takes up a lot of time. The restaurant experience can be a good thing for aspiring chefs. Not all that want to work in the food industry are tho.

I didnt rate this format too highly either. Maybe spoilt after Masterchef Australia. Very good contestants, very good guest chefs and very good contestants. Many of whom have gone onto successful careers with multiple TV shows.

The style is more like the UK MasterChef, which personally I appreciate because it's more about learning to cook and present the dish than the drama.
