I watch a lot of competitive cooking shows and I’ve always wondered this. The food wouldn’t be nearly as good even if it was kept in a warmer. Makes me believe most of these cooking shows are probably scripted.

I remember seeing a video of Gordon Ramsay talking about Masterchef and how they judge the food. He said that the judges taste the food while it is being cooked because by the time it comes to judging, most of the food is cold. The judges will taste one dish then discuss it and give comments/advice to the competitor and then discuss the dish with each other and they do this for every single dish so by the time they get to the last dishes they would be cold. I'll try to find that video and post a link.
