It would be very interesting to see more restoration videos. There are too many people who claim to be professionals, but are not, and end up ruining good furniture.

Thank you, David. Excellent topic. Would like a vid on regular care of antique wood furniture, as there are so many different opinions "out there" on what to do.

Wow! That was impressive! On one hand you stated at the beginning of the video that you advised one not try this unless trained, but on the other hand just a few minutes of work with that cleaner brought out beauty in that furniture most of us would not have known it ever had. Tempting to try, but I don't want to ruin what I have. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoy your videos here, and receive your newsletter in my inbox, which is always informative and entertaining. This video really made a point about stripping vs. cleaning and rejuvenating existing finishes. I'd love to know what you used to clean the surface, rubbing it in with the fine steel wool and wiping off decades of smoke and grime. As always, thank-you for the lesson!

I would recommend a proprietary furniture reviver/cleaner unless you have restoration experience. David

What kind of stuff you use for cleaning the top of the mahogany table? Or is that a secret? Mirjam

Dear Mirjam, We certainly use a number of different mixtures to clean the dirt, dust and accrued smoke etc. from pieces but I am reluctant to recommend any one substance as being better than others. It is very much up to the individual to decide what works best for them but as a starting point I can say that good results can be achieved using Liberon Wax and Polish Remover and Burnishing Cream provided the instructions are followed and due care is taken. With best wishes,, David Harvey
