Very well explained. This tutorial helps me enormously to understand how individual modules work in OZONE 9 adv. to understand. Great tutorial!

Thank you for this David, I always learn a lot from your courses and videos! Question: I'm planning on using Ozone 10 to master an album of my songs (we're an acoustic Gypsy Jazz trio) and want all of the songs to be consistently mastered... Once I get the first song mastered how I like it, can I save everything that was done in Ozone and simply apply it to the other tracks (I would still check for phase issues, etc.)? Or, would I bring all of the tracks into a Studio One "Project" and run Ozone in there? Not sure how you do it... Also, that bit about lowering the bass in the stereo widener to get it tighter in the middle and more mono is great - especially if I can work up the funds to release some vinyl. BTW, have you ever mixed/mastered for vinyl and might that be a future course (I'll give you my money right now)? ;)

Yes, you can save a "preset" in Ozone, I believe so that will keep your settings after you finish the first song. I personally would use Ozone to master each song 1 at a time and then load them into the Project Page and make any fine adjustments there. No course for vinyl as honestly, there is little to no market for that from a course perspective, sorry

Hello Mr. David, thank you very much for this tutorial. I want to ask a question about stereo widening in the mixing stage. Should we pay attention to the phasing issue for each individiual instrument in the mixing stage? Or is it okay to solve phasing issue in the mastering stage (for each individual frequency band) as you did in this video?

you want to pay attention to phasing with each instrument during mixing, not mastering

imager is a good as long someone is using it for monitoring the stereo image, or making really really very very very subtle changes with the faders... still the thing is that as long a track hasn't a good orchestration or in a way to cover the freqs spectrum as should, along with panning and proper EQ, Stereo Imager will not gonna fix that stuff for you.... and if someone overdones with it will end up with unnatural sound in one case scenario, the other is having phase problems where both scenarios are bad... widness and depth are coming from the mix part for real, using panning and EQ... and if something doesn't work well, some effects like reverb, chorus, delay can help pretty a lot to control the situation in most cases..... mastering is more about quality control on first hand while with several techniques can bring up some improvements, but it's not something magical... while using Mid/Side EQ or Left/Right EQ can be more effective in most cases also just for note....as a generic rule for me a healthy stereo image corellation is like +0.5 to +1 with setting a fast responce, lower than this for long times means that there are phase issues (this depends also on how fast or slow your imager reacts to the changes) in average being close to 0, means that there is stuff that is actually in most cases out of phase for real and they will probably dissapear in mono for good. usually some heavy drumworking can fool you in the stereo image too... while tonz of things might be out of phase.... Imager is just good for mostly a generic monitoring but turning and checking to mono no matter what from times to timesis the best practice for keeping that MID side as solid as possible...
