🎺⛅️ 1 Thessalonians 4 kJV ✝️🩸 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

At 34:22 I think the key intuition is not that the black rook blocks its kings retreat, because the white rook covers that whole file anyway. It's that your pawn was shielding the black king on that file, so queening and sacrificing that pawn eliminated that shelter, allowing the ladder mate. Thank you for another great video.

I have love/hate relationship with chess puzzles. On one hand, I love when I understand WHY the solution is what it is. On the other, I hate those (unfortunately too frequent) moments when I realize the correct solution the very instant I make the wrong move.

Thank you so much for these videos. After watching these I always perform better in puzzles; as you said, it's very important to know when to stop and try other order-movements. I've never had a formal teacher so these videos are extremely valuable to me. I could watch hours and hours of you solving puzzles, no matter how easy or difficult, it always does good for my chess. I've also been kind of burnout and not paying much attention to chess, I don't know how much effort it takes for you to make one of this series, but if it doesn't take much effort, please know they're always appreciated and nutritive for those of us who are still learning tactics and calculation (=it doesn't really matter the level, just hearing you structure the thought process is absolutely inspiring). Thanks again Danya and hope we all find the balance we need into our lives!!

All your videos are instructive, regardless of the theme of the content. There wasn't a single move you made that wasn't something I should be able to find, but the reality is, you can see many many move themes at once, where a player like myself sees 1 or 2 and gets tunnel vision. I'm sure lots of folks can relate where after solving a puzzle and getting it wrong, there's a huge oh-my moment when we see the correct idea that clearly was something we "could" have found, but missed due to other tactical themes that clouded our overall vision. I don't know how to avoid this tunnel vision, but I would sure like to figure it out.

I know that Danya keeps saying 'pattern recognition' but I don't think that's necessarily the case every time. In Charles Hertan's book 'Forcing Moves' he mentions the concept of 'computer eyes'. Just by a combo of brute force, awareness/visualisation of where the pieces are at each and every turn (for both sides), plus comparison of similar lines to diagnose the problem, one can find winning lines without prior knowledge of a pattern. It might be slower but I think that's the more valuable part of the thinking process. After all, historically these patterns were noted and identified _after_ the fact. It would be a treat if Danya could show us what I think is the biggest weakness of us pleb chess players: how to actually VISUALISE chess positions without getting foggy!

Puzzle 1, 3:54 , danya states that after 1. Rfe1, Rd7 2. RxQ, RxR+ 3. Kh2, RxR that black has 2 rooks for a queen and the position reaches equally, how ever there is a beautiful detail that I feel he saw but forgot to mention. After 4. Qc3, (pinning Re5 to the king threatening f4) black has an amazing resource, Rd5! And after 5. F4, attacking his rook, black is able to force himself out of the pin with, Rc5, hitting his queen, and if 6. Qd4 maintaining the pin, Rd5. And if white tries to be sneaky with 5. B4, black has time to play Kg8 getting out of the pin. The reason I choose Rde1 was because I saw black had Qc5 after 1.Rfe1which keeps the balance of pieces even instead of a queen for two rooks.

Took 2-5 minutes at the start of each position, here's how I scored: 2:11 Solved completely 5:22 Partial failure, I saw Bb7 and gave up without seeing Nb8 10:10 Partial solve, I saw the first couple moves but got tunnel vision on Ke8 instead of Ke6 16:18 Failed, I got stuck analyzing 1.Re8+ like an idiot 18:13 Solved completely in under a minute, was really happy with this one 23:31 Solved completely, though I did waste some time looking at Qh8+ before seeing Nd7 26:48 Mostly solved, I just didn't see any meaningful way for white to save the knight after Nf6 28:02 (Sevian game) Partial solve, I thought Ne5 in the starting position or after Rd8+ since I was afraid of Bxf3 after Rxa8. I missed Rdd8 for some inexplicable reason. 33:16 Solved completely 35:18 Failed, I was too cowardly to consider Rxe6 38:09 Solved completely So overall I completely solved 5/10, meaning the difficulty was perfect. Thank you for a great instructive video!

Hi Danya, I’m a 31 year old self taught 1700. I’ve watched all of your videos at least once for the last two years and then some. Thank you for continuing to be my favorite and most informative chess content creator. I would have never understood the logic of most of these puzzles and now I have several new lenses to look through. I have two questions. I’m 2200 in puzzles and my solve time is often slower than the target time by 5-20 seconds. Do you place emphasis on the speed or am I right to assume that it hopefully will improve through the repetition despite not being a young learner. And second, is there anything that I or any of us can do as viewers on steam or to assist in preventing or slowing burnout? I know what it’s like to burn the candle at both ends and I know you’re on the grind. Just would love to help for everything you have given to me. I also know you’re full but if you ever want an older student on the East Coast I would be elated and would love to prove that older people can become 2000+. I am intelligent, resilient, competitive, and I get good at whatever I do and love a challenge. Best regards and thank you even if you never get this message. You’re truly the man and I have so much gratitude for you.
@blueberryoatmeal4009
@blueberryoatmeal4009 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the speed: You can artificially improve the speed in some puzzles by making the intuitive move and getting lucky. However, in that case you didn't really solve the puzzle, so that's not your true speed. Also, this won't work for the trickier puzzles. Eventually, the constant exercise of calculation and pattern recognition will make you a stronger solver and the speed should increase naturally. Honestly even if it doesn't, accuracy is more important. Speed does matter in general, in the sense that it's possible to flag in real games. But in puzzles, the priority should be to find the correct solution even if it takes longer. In short: I think you're going about it correctly, because (in Danya terms) you don't gain the maximum instructive value from puzzles if you try to rush them.

4:00 I apparently found the right solution in Rde1 but I thought it was because black could play Qc5 threatening white's queen. With Rfe1 in that position if you take the queen he can capture your rook with check and then recapture the queen for an equal trade. With Rde1 the capture does not come with check so black is lost.

At 4:44 currently…I had my own idea about puzzle 1 and that was after Rfe1, black has QC5! Danya didn’t mention it so far so I thought I was mistaken, I put it into lichess and the move it suggested after Rfe1 was in fact my move, whether that is the correct strength or not from my iPad is another story but that felt good:) I’m sure his moves are equally good at refuting the f rook moving, i just saw that whites queen was loose so black had that tactic too:)

What do you think about the website you solved puzzles on (I can't say the name because YT bans my comments) preventing anyone who's not a titled player or select legacy user from having a leaderboard score above 49? It makes my work feel less important than that of other users, I'm sure a lot of your viewers have had the same experience. They couldn't even give me a straight answer on how to get approved to be on the leaderboard.
