Great job Greg! it looks like Mikey had a little trouble keeping up and filming you after a few laps of you getting used to the track! I just wrote up to Chuck Wallace on Saturday just to check things out and you're right it is a long ass ride! Although I do love riding taking the car would've been much more comfortable…

Did my first track day last week. I rode my bike for three and a half hours to the track the day before. Tools and clothes in the backpack. Found shade under some trees. It was awesome and I have already planned the next track day. As soon as I got back I got a ramp to transport the bike next time. Definitely not riding to the track again. The backpack was killing me.

Makes me appreciate how lucky I am to live a 30 minute drive (or ride) from our GP track, where they also provide a free garage with free mains power for your warmers etc. Some of the garages also have drinks fridges if there’s a race event on that night or the next day.

Not all track organizers are equal. Find an organizer that will teach you how to ride. Typically this will involve classroom sessions in addition to your track time. There are also organizers that don't offer this, and will just let you out on track by yourself. If you just "go for it" without any training you'll either be really slow, or you'll crash. Invest in yourself and your riding and get some instruction.

:)) Two hours to an international track and one national, 20-30-40 minutes to other 3 tracks...... Always ride in full leathers to track day :)).... because the weather is the same everywhere here :P (and to go to the big ones is through the twisties and over mountains/ nice roads)..... You're moving the whole house for the track session :P.....I feel so privilaged in a way (I take the bike and a backpack of tools!) Lovely track you have down there .... The crappiest things about using street tires, is that after a track session you have to scrape all the gunk out of the grooves and all the deposits.....and that takes a bit of hard work after you are already tired.

I just bought another bike for the first time since I crashed in 2020. First track day in that long as well. I was riding A group before and was about mid pack as well, but since it’s been so long, I’m going to go B group this weekend, although, now the company I go through offers a B+ and B~ group, which splits up the overcrowded B group. So we’ll see how it goes. Cool video.

Ha! Your final comments remind me of my serious skydiving days. It was less about the jumping, more about the social event with my buds. I was teaching military freefall during the week, the weekend was more about hanging out.

I did a track day at Barber in AL, it was alright but kinda frustrating since I was riding at the limit of my skill and everyone was blowing past me on my rc390 full tuck WOT. It made street riding super boring, there aren't good twisties around here, everything is a blind turn. I actually haven't been riding much since the track day.

do you feel you favor more left hand corners? it seems you twist your torso better on left corners, when compared to right corners. from the video @15:34 it doesn't look like your body is facing the right-hander, whereas for left handers it seems your whole body is facing the direction you are going. I'd like to have some footage like that of myself to see if I do the same :D

Let us all take a minute to hold hands and pray…pray to the motorcycle Gods that BMW motor doesn’t pop on our dear friend MotoJitsu. 😂
@ohhhcrap
@ohhhcrap 18 күн бұрын
Why would it pop? Most of the issues of motors blowing are on the new m1000rr's. I had over 7k miles on my '22 S1K of hard riding with zero issues before I traded it in.
@sonny9608
@sonny9608 17 күн бұрын
Both of you put “s1000rr motor blown” into the search bar. Theres plenty of people smoking their s1000rr motors, I did not say or mean m1000rr. Just because your bike is fine doesn’t mean everyone else having issues is discredited. Maybe you were lucky. There is a few more than motomili with bad m1000rr motors. I am on my third KTM, I’ve only had one sort of major issue and they bent over backwards to take care of me. Others say different. Also..I was making a joke, clearly. 😂

Q. How does the track team monitor down riders and do they always have their own emts / ambulance 🚑 crew there on standby?
@satanaz
@satanaz 18 күн бұрын
at least on the trackdays here in Europe there are always ambulances at the track.
@Renaissance_cycles
@Renaissance_cycles 17 күн бұрын
They have “control riders” out and about in each group, if they see something out of order they will pass you and motion that they need to talk to you or tap their tail for you to follow, for example. Also there’s lookouts throughout the track, at least 3-4 with someone in them holding the flags, in case of any accidents. They are the ones that will radio to the ambulance or crash truck to come pick someone up and their bike. I’m sure it varies by organizations and/or track but in a nutshell that’s pretty usual.

My lessons from my first track day: Use your own masking tape BEFORE you get to tech inspection. If they don't like anything, they will gleefully plaster stuff with their DUCT tape which WILL rip off paint. Also, don't let them apply any stickers to paint. Put masking tape on any and ALL surfaces that need stickers. BUY front and rear stands (and bobbins for your bike) and learn how to take off (and put on) your wheels before you go. If tech doesn't like your wheels, it'll cost you to have the wheel guys take your stuff off, if you don't do it yourself. I paid $90 for 15 minutes worth of wheel exchange labor. If you are getting tired, stop riding. The last run of the day has the most accidents by far. Lots of jackasses are happy to go crazy; and their concern for your safety goes way, way down. The track organizers rarely do anything about those jackasses. Ask me how I know... Ask people for help understanding things. Don't be shy. My coach was happy to do the bare minimum and never gave me any feedback on my skills. He had "over 15,000" laps at the track we were at, and his apathy to coaching novices showed.

I ride a 1000 super bike on the canyon roads where I live. Been riding for 20 years now. I'm 100% MotoGP material. 50°+ leans, 180 mph in the straights, and over 1 G of braking. No one can touch me. Everyone that has ever rode with me always ask why am I not racing professionally? Its too damn expensive even to just do track days. I don't even have a truck or trailer to haul my bike. lol. If only I had the opportunities ($$$) like the pro's had. Well, at least I still have fun.
