Honestly the first minute of this video was the most useful stuff on triads I've seen anywhere. Everyone breaks down what triads are and what the finger patterns are and how to move them around within the box, but no one shows how to actually use them for soloing and improvisation. After I learn the triads, what do I do? All it took was that first minute and aha! So thank you!

Been playing for awhile but always check out different lessons like this one. Beginner players: work on triads and knowing them! (Wish I had when I was first started out with barre chords). Start with these that Marty has shown, learn them A through G. 5-10 minutes a day. Then move onto triads on the other strings. You can thank me later! Nice little lesson Marty, keep it up. Be well all 🤘🏼

Great lesson Marty as always ! It’s funny how sometimes eliminating notes in a chord sometimes cuts through more than the open cowboy chords do. Jamiroquai guitarist Rob Harris is also a master at playing diads/triads to articulate the rhythm and it is so tight.

Thanks for the break down Marty. It'll take some practice, but the simplified instruction, helps me wrap my head around triads better. I went to your gig in Nashville at the Dutton a few years back. I keep hoping you'll put on another performance soon. The smaller venue made it seem more intimate. Thanks for all you do.

Thank you. Once many years ago I always thought I was a maths retard. Then somehow (I really don't know how), while repeating first year chemistry, I managed to enroll for 1st year physics. Day one, lecture one, Dr Don Bedford bounced into the lecture theater and announced that over the next two days he would be revising from grade one arithmetic to integral and differential calculus. Right there and then I knew I was dropping out on the first day. Instead, he started with 0 = 0, 1 = 1 and 1 + 1 = 2. and halfway through the next lecture the fridge door opened and for the first time in my life the light came on. I always battled with music theory and never really learned to play the guitar properly. Then a few years ago I had a fall out with the church band and sold everything (stupid mistake). so after a couple of mishaps including being temporarily paralyzed from the neck down, I found myself staring at the ceiling of the cardiac ward last year for six weeks and decided if I ever made it out of there I was going to learn properly. I think your video has just initiated another fridge light moment. Still an enormous lot of work to do but now I have hope.

Of all the cowboy slide chords E the A and the C, nobody ever uses the C. There is a barr chord made up of the cowboy C. That's how the triangle D chord is made. Ok there.
